Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward News - Upcoming Patches will Tease Next Expansion Details

In a new interview at Game Watch, Final Fantasy XIV Producer Naoki Yoshida laid out some new information about upcoming game patches and revealed that the first details about the game's next expansion will be shown during this fall's FFXIV Fan Festival. While it won't be a direct reveal of the expansion, Fan Festival panels will provide more  information on the upcoming 3.4 and 3.5 patches, both of which will start the process of moving to 4.0.

    Now though Yoshida... if your going to do big changes... you better not go cheesing a lot of them away like you did in 3.0. It took out a lot of the flare of the 2.5/2.55 story having some of those elements haphazardly handled.

    Anyone who's been remotely interested in this would already know that at the very least 3.5 would've been setting up events for 4.0. Thanks for letting us know I guess.

    well they ended the 3.0 story in 3.3 , the ending cutscene....shows something.... that wont spoil here , we still have 3.4 - 3.5 to shape 4.0 maybe we even end the "other story" before 4.0...or it explodes with a huge cliffhanger and there it goes 4.0 .... still unknow :o

    What's worse is that people made a whole thread in the past talking about how samurai could work as a cast time melee dps just like bard/machinist are pretty much cast time ranged physical dps....please god no. And technically 3.0 came out with 4 jobs, not 3. They just released ninja early. I dont know why people think there was only 3.

    Sayzon, this is pretty much THE PvE mmo nowadays. FFXIV has always been a MMO that does story in an exemplary manner, and it will only continue. One of the few games I would say I would pay a sub for, and actually get my moneys worth.

    They tanked content in FFXI, so that's a definite possibility.
