Same. Why waste time playing an MMO when I can play Overwatch and have fun immediately.
Instant gratification are what MMOs are all about these days, isn't it?  You should feel right at home.
Nah, it just needs to be fun from the start and longterm. I once could invest 100 hours+ doing boring stuff to Get to the fun. Maybe I'm getting old or sumthin, but I cant Get myself to do that shit anymore.

I also cry for games where playing a class means hitting 3-4 buttons. I miss posibilities, like if you are smart you can defeat Goliath. I miss counters, counters to the counters and counter to the counter of the counter. That is using skill = win, but not the fps aim = skill, but knowledge-preparation = skill and win.
    sumthin?

    there lies the problem :)

in my view if you are a gamer and are still thinking in terms of 'classes'' 'levels' and 'combat' you havent yet 'actualized' as a gamer just yet

How dare you!!!! I'm true to the old ADnD pen and paper style class gaming. If you aint got class, well then you have no class!!!  :p

there is already a ton of that going on. there just isnt trailers at E3 and 'first party developer' approval stickers all over it. you have to look but its not that hard once you allow yourself to look outside of 'aaa'

I'm still interested in MMORG's. I haven't played any for longer for a while though, mostly because the available MMORPGs suck, compared to titles of other genres.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

Only games on my radar are Obduction, No Man's Sky, and Skyrim remastered.  Not a single MMO out or in development that interests me right now.  Very depressing.
This makes me think you aren't looking very hard. Have you seen Saga of Lucimia? They are basically making a hardmode survival mmorpg version of skyrim.

Keep in mind that games today are designed for a different Generation then you are probably in.  Our Generation played games very differently then today's kids.  For example, I think it's terrible that I can spend 30 bucks to buy a mount at level 1 in the current games... it's just a mechanic that is pathetic to me.  I'd rather go through a dungeon, do a huge quest and earn my mount.

Until games get back to the designs that make it entertaining for me then I no longer will play them.  BTW, I don't expect this to ever change.. I'm pretty sure my MMORPG days are over.

    I
After installing Rift which i still have my original account & characters i started a new character played a bit but couldn't get back into it at all.
i tried out wildstar for the first time last weekend played up to the almost lvl 10 but have had no urge to get back into that game either.

normally i have no problem getting back into a game even if i've been gone for awhile but then again this loss of interest could be because i've gotten older and have other things to focus on like PS4 gaming or gaming on Steam but aside from a handful of games on steam i don't feel like getting into many other games i own for one reason or another.

has anyone else had this issue where their heart just isn't into certain mmo games anymore ?
I kinda feel the same. For some reason when I return to a mmo, most have been revamped to a f2p. I can see some improvements in gameplay, some quality of life has been added, but most changes are supporting ways to get more $$ out of a player. Want an extra bag, give us $10, ofc you can buy it with ingame currency, but you can only refine X per day, so it will take 30 days to earn an extra bag by just playing. Oh you have a subscription to our F2P game, the bag is only $9, because you are our friend.

The game industry is not innovating gameplay, most of the time the come up with stuff they can charge me extra for.

Is more that a lot mmo are getting old. The leveling so not as fun with out a reason to do it other trying to get to max level and do same thing over again but with gear in a dungeon or a raid that one looks at for weeks or mouths with little meaning with out trying to get the left over before a new gear grind.

The advertisers on this website are quite pleased that so many bored and burned out fans return here to have the same discussions week after week.

Let's do a "what's the true definition of MMORPG" again. It's been a few hours now.

Or maybe "why sandboxes are superior in every way."

There are two types of people. Those that make things happen, and those that don't.
People that make things happen have no time, and people that don't make things happen have all the time in the world.

People that make things happen don't play video games. They are to busy making things happen.

If you lost interest in MMOs and gaming, means you grew up. What you gonna do with all that spare time?

    Make things happen bro.

I agree with this except for the grow up part but maybe that is because I am a happy manchild who doesnt give a fuck.

but generally yes that is accurate

What scares me the most is the time investment. If you quit a single player game and later come back to it, it's most certainly the same.

If you quit an ammo, you will feel behind d, you will feel that you missed out and are late to the party and that will inevitably put you off.
If you are a Star Wars fan, why not try the Star Wars The Old Republic?
