For the next 3 weeks, New Dawn's testing and development phase known as InDev will be free for players to try. This will last around 9 months and be followed by another free trial before the wipe and final server is launched.
As of now, they have already made some important changes to game performance, UI and default settings as well as streamlining redundant passive stats and abilities. All in all, its an improved version of Darkfall but they have only yet begun the process of transforming the game into a deeper sandbox world.
https://darkfallnewdawn.com/news/The upcoming changes that define New Dawn and differentiate it from previous Darkfalls is its localized banking, improved player progression and meditation system, player alignment system, improved territory ownership and taxation, and the title system encouraging more diversity among player builds. These are just a few of the long list of changes that will hopefully revitalize Darkfall and give it a wider appeal among sandbox mmorpg fans.
Ub3rgames has also revamped the website and added new information explaining the process of developing a better Darkfall.

I really think these 2 New darkfall games are only going to Confuse the majority of players, who will not understand which version to buy, or what is even the difference between the 2 games
Very confusing having 2 darkfall games being released at same time
I Predict both games will fail because the majority of players wont be able to decide which version of darkfall to buy
I really want to play darkfall again but I am in the majority of players who are Confused
Confused over which version to buy, which leads to buying None of the version because people wont be able to decide which version will last longer ect ect
Example : Hey joe I just bought darkfall to play , come on over to darkfall and play with me again
Friend buys the Wrong version of darkfall and Now they are both playing different game
Both friends get angry at having different versions of the same game, 1 month passes and they decide to quit
Rise of Agon wants to offer a classic Darkfall experience with minimal changes.
New Dawn wants to overhaul the game and fix the major flaws making it more appealing to a broader audience.
Rise of Agon will probably attract the hardcore arena pvp fans. If New Dawn delivers, its likely to attract at least some of the other 95% of players that left and believe Darkfall didn't live up to its potential.
do you not understand how the Mass market of people work ? (ALOT OF STUPID PEOPLE) hahah
I was just stating the obvious
The exploration of the game world was pretty cool because it seemed huge and unexplored when I was playing (maybe in part because I was in very safe areas and I don't think here were a lot of newbies in the game).
I can't quite put my finger on what it was... but I also kind of liked the combat system in a visceral sort of way. With major improvements to UI and character development systems, I could see myself giving it another shot.
FFXIV ARR vs FFXIV vs FFXI is much worse.

When you say "hardcore pvp only people" do you mean the ones that enjoyed sitting their characters on rocks all day to harvest materials and fight when they get the best gear/skills?
When you say "appeal to non-Darkfall people" what does that mean?
Its all very vague, and I still don't know how any of this is meant to be better than UW, or why many DF fans don't like UW.
Edit: Educating myself now through links in OP, duh.
This should be listed as a primary issue. The closest they have is decreasing the power gap, but that's just going to mean that those that bot skills are not going to be quite as more powerful than you as they were in original Darkfall.

We're about to see why nobody has ever tried to do this before...
We've got people in this thread even talking about bloodwalls for Christ sakes, lol. Talk about being completely clueless.
"Mr. Rothstein, your people never will understand... the way it works out here. You're all just our guests. But you act like you're at home. Let me tell you something, partner. You ain't home. But that's where we're gonna send you if it harelips the governor." - Pat Webb
I'm not going to waste my time on Canada Day doing the little bit of research you should have already done if you wanted to actually have a valid opinion about these two (very different) projects.

I did like a lot of things about Darkfall but I'm not seeing them address this issue I found most annoying, like I said.
The degree of difference is really immaterial, unless they decide to remove PVP from one version, lol
I understand having two darkfalls is different and not ideal. However, I would rather this than two very different darkfall communities arguing over the vastly different directions they want their game taken in.
Hopefully, at least one will survive. Some crazy people out there like me really like this game and are very excited it's getting one last chance with a real developer who wants to do something with a cool, unique, skeleton mmo.
