Hewlett Packard The Machine. Thoughts?

So HP is unveiling as they say a new way of computing the memory centric computing. Here is a article from HP about it.

Do you think this is just a new marketing thing or something that could change processing going forward and will it have any effect on gaming?

"The developer tools available now include the following four contributions of code:

    1)  Fast optimistic engine for data unification services: A completely new database engine that speeds up applications by taking advantage of a large number of CPU cores and non-volatile memory (NVM)."

Looks more like they are working on a super computer model.  It might have applications in large server arrays such as MMO server farms but none that would currently apply directly to personal computers.  That might help reduce debacles like Black Desert Online putting a lot of their calculations on the client.

It is just marketing talk.  They thought they had a breakthrough in memristor technology, but that didn't pan out.  Memristors were a key part of their strategy to reinvent computer architecture.  Without them functioning as they wanted/predicted, the best they can do is gamble on the next technology:  light-based processing.
