The reactions of some of these "outraged" respondents are just as bad (if not worse) than the clumsy attempt at humour that triggered those reactions...
Reaction or not, it does not make the "attempt" any less "clumsier"...at the end of the day, it is indeed just a bad taste.
When the "bad taste" is equally evident in the original article as well as the responses to it, then I'm inclined to think that the "bad taste" is in good company, lol

I find it amusing and disturbing that people think it is unusual to make light of bad news and normal for people to get their exercise chasing digital characters around the outside world.

Bad taste or not, a unique occurrence where a person was introduced to a rare part of reality by playing a video game. Real Life being found by playing a game, I applaud that even if this specific event was on the tragic side of things. Getting out of your comfort zone, out of your routine, experience new things, I might give this Pokemon Go a spin.

On a side note, if you want the cruelty of life being captured on film, go watch the French movie Amour, that is what real tragedy looks like.

    /Cheers,

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

I still want to know if the game have her a pokemon and as learned in Stand By Me poke it with a stick.

I know this is kinda off topic but it sucks they ditched the turned based combat to who spams the most wins.

Also capturing pokemon is quite lame when you don't have to weaken them but just throw pokeballs at them.

Had no idea what this pokemon go thing was. What I do know is if people near me attempt to capture "water pokemons" they will probably end up as alligator food.

This is a game site, not yahoo, not msn, not cnbc or fox or whatever news site you check out often.  This is a site about games,  so in that respect I don't see any issue with a tuned focus on the gaming aspect and not the death aspect.

    Example:

Gaming News Site:  Wiimote Flies Out of Hand and Gives Kid Black Eye,  Dr. Mario Called.

News Site:  Video Games a Danger to Person and Property

Whether or not you find it to be in your personal taste, lets move on people.

I think the word respect shouldn't exist in this comment.
so you are saying gamers should disrespect another people feeling and joke about people death? wow nice community

Isn't this a bit dangerous what if people don't watch where they are going and fall or gets hit by a car ?
It will probably happen at some point. Like the man who died near a lighthouse in Ireland while playing the game Ingress. http://www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland/irish-news/online-gamer-died-on-poolbeg-pier-capture-mission-inquest-hears-1.2645636

I see no intent in the article to make fun of the corpse
Um..how do you interpret "Dead Body, I Choose You!" not to be a joke about a corpse of someone's beloved?
Because I read the whole article, not just the headline. Context and intent are important.

It's clear to me that the author of the article didn't write this to make fun of the corpse. The intent was to make fun of people playing Pokemon GO.

Hence I'm not part of the crowbar-armed mob that is searching for the author....
I think it's safe to say you're reaching, you realize people can share an opinion on an article without being in some form of rage over it right? I've seen no one say anything harsh about Bill in general.

not finding it humorous =/= enraged... that's quite a leap...

You folks are making more of a deal about folks not finding it humorous than anyone has made about the article itself.

The game wouldn't be to blame, it would be the scapegoat. Severe lack of self-responsibility is what leads to frivolous lawsuits.

If my daughter wanted to play pokemon go, I would first play the game with her. Teach her to foremost pay attention to where she was going and what she was doing. Stopping to check the screen, and if it leads into a dangerous area, to simply back out and try to find another pokemon in a different area.

Parents need to parent their children. That includes taking an interest in the things that interest them, and even engaging in the activity yourself to learn whether it's appropriate for your children or not.

I wonder if Pokemon go will be blamed when hipster asshats start wandering into dangerous neighborhoods on their "adventures".
But that's where the best pokemon is dude.

There was a recent article about a boy using pokemon Go and went into the wrong neighborhood and got beaten up and had his phone taken. I can see Bills humor in this and I can also see why some people would be slightly offended. No one knows the body of the person as it is very vague. There is no name or voice given, but how long would it have been for that body to be found if this person was not wandering around...and like another poster said using a gaming App. That I think is what makes it funny, then relating the body to Professor Oak, come on you can't tell me that is not funny.

We all know death is not a good thing, but lets face it everyone here is going to die. Death in and of itself is not bad, but the circumstances we find ourselves in. There are two sides to the coin, there needs to be a bit of funny to balance out the loss.

Exactly I don't see how others cannot see that. The whole point is the girl is playing Pokemon in Real life and runs across a consequence of doing so and it's funny because of it. I don't know, I thought it was hilarious. Next thing it will be a Pokemon Go player randomly stumbles into a drug bust...hilarity ensues.
