imageTwo Marines Assist Police in Nabbing Murder Suspect

Two US Marines in California helped local police bring in a murder suspect after he had been seen approaching several women with children in a local park while they were playing Pokemon Go. The man behaved inappropriately with one of them. A woman called 9-1-1 while the marines kept an eye on the man until the police arrived. On apprehending the man, it was discovered that he was wanted on a murder warrant in another California city.

I think this should be rewritten so that the body of the text tells us that the two marines were in the park because they were playing Pokemon Go. As it is, I may as well be reading the local news.

Actually everyone was in that park playing pokemon go.  It didn't say if they had a hotspot or something and the man was stalking the children.  Also those two men are not active duty Marines.
Are you onto something or just on something?

All headlines here are "You'll never guess what happens next!" clickbait. Most of the "System" and SBFord articles posted have nothing in their titles telling you what game the article is about. It's why I mainly stick to user posted articles/threads now.
One of those people who thinks the cover and title of a book should explain everything.  It isn't clickbait the title perfectly describes what happened.  You realize clickbait is something that is off topic to cause people to click the link?

The fault is in the delivery connection between the site and the forum NOT mine. When a news item is posted to the site and is imported to the forum, the associated game isn't part of it. The issue is complicated by a limit to title size. Most of this should be resolved with the new site.

The title has been edited with "PG-Playing" for clarity.

And, lastly, active duty or not, a Marine is a Marine.

Pokemon go is more viral than anything ever. No matter who I met the last 2 days the center of discussion was pokemon go and I'm not talking about kids either.

I've always considered that absurd. While I respect those willing to serve, when you're done, you're done.

Why isn't a burger flipper always a burger flipper? Why isn't a CEO always a CEO? Why isn't a doctor always a doctor?

Once a Marine,  always a Marine.  That is a motto of the Marine Corps.  Doesn't mean it makes sense its just a motto and all Marines are taught it and use it.  But yea I get what you are saying.

Meanwhile criminals will be criminals no matter if PG is around or not.  The problem is they suddenly decide to use it when they can very easily just walk outside and do the same thing.
Are you onto something or just on something?

I think "Once a Marine, always a Marine." is rather fitting though, you don't suddenly lose all your training when you aren't on active duty. You're still better equipped to deal with potentially dangerous situations and people than the average citizen. And assuming they're inactive due to anything but discharge for misconduct you can be fairly sure that the Marine is going to handle the situation properly.

Now, mind, we're subjected to some situations that stick with us and could cause an unfavorable reaction because of PTSD but for the most part we rein in any crazy reactions fairly well in my experience.

I was in the US Marine Corps 36 years ago, and it has had an affect on my life ever since.  I still remember the stuff I learned, the year in Japan, hitting 9 out of 10 bullseyes at 550 yards using open sites.  That stuff never goes away.

And oh, by the way, if you have a critical MOS (Military Occupation Specialty) you can be called back to the Marines (or other services) up to the age of 35 + the number of years you were in.  So I could have been called back all the way until I was 39.

And one thing I have learned over those 36 years;  It's the same for those who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard.  They don't forget those years either.

The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!
