It's cool but it's also yet another nostalgia cash grab by Nintendo.

Even if 2$ each game isn't much - these are 30 year old games and let's be honest.. anyone who buys this now already owns the original games and has them stashed away together with sweet memories.

They're so late to the party on this. I've got every NES game worth playing on my wii via the Homebrew channel as well as my custom firmware PSP.

Dispite the above, I still see myself picking this up since it has replica original controllers!
Edit* I didn't see any info about adding more games. Roms are very small so space shouldn't be an issue. I think they missed a good opportunity here if they did not give the console the function to purchase more games from their online store. Bionic Commando missing from that list makes me sad.

I think they're going the wrong direction with this. You can already get most of those games on the virtual console. What I think they should do is offer a Steam style store/drm platform for PC.
My posts always come across a bit more angry than I intend to - what I meant to say is a bit what you are saying now just in the opposite direction.

These games are unchanged - we own them already - yet we will buy them again.
From a business perspective it's brilliant from Nintendo to sell us games that they already sold us before.
Even if this doesn't sell well (which I don't believe) it will mean getting money for zero effort.

Then to pick up your opinion and the side of the players:
I don't see myself paying for this when I already own the originals and virtual console copies.

I share the feeling of Nostalgia but at some point I feel Nintendo got enough money from selling me the same games over and over again.

I don't see why everyone is getting so excited. I guess it's the ability to get that group of games for less than you could physically get them and an old console for, and it has HDMI output which is neat. But honestly I would like this way more if it had the ability to also play old cartridge games as well. If I could go out and buy a game for the NES pop it in and have it work on here, that would be great. But as it stands, I don't really want to go out and get something that will only have the ability to play 30 old games, and have to sit in front of my TV when I could just as well go out and get an old console that I could get hundreds of games for and have it sit in front of my TV.

Sounds good in theory, but if there's no way to add more games then I'll pass. I'm interested in maybe ten of those, and most of my other childhood favorites aren't included. I'll stick with my emulator.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

Uh, these games are great to play when you have get together with friends.  A lot of side betting and drinking, it's awesome.  lol

This is a must buy for me. I've sold my console and those few games i owned long ago, and people ask more than 200€ for a console and 6-7 games, which they also will get.

I could pay even more than $60 for this console, that's for sure.

Never really been an overly fan of Nintendo and/or the NES, but quite a number of titles also came on the PS1 and I'd love to play those again. Only thing I'm wondering is what kind of video output is used *hopes for HDMI* [EDIT] just saw it'll have HDMI, so I guess I'm game (pun intended :D )

I still have my original NES and about half of the games on this list...but I'm still going to buy this - so awesome!

While people like you me maybe went with the virtual console option
I don't agree with you about the direction being wrong, I know many people that are not into current generation console, and if they will have a console its either ps3 or ps4, so for them this console is a must have, either for them or for their kids.

As for me I always hated the virtual/emulators option, when i want to play a ps2 game I always think why don't i buy a ps2 and play the game (but being lazy, I don't buy the console nor i play it on emu).

I think the people Nintendo are targeting this time are the people that played some of these games ages ago and adore them, and at the same time trying to appeal to other by it being a mini console with a controller etc.

OMFG! So many great games pre-loaded too.

Feature Request: Could they add a sensor that requires you to open it and blow into it before the game will start?

I am buying one. I have not had my NES since I threw it out in the 90s. These games are better than many games today.

Cool to have, mostly just to have it on your shelf or something. Pretty expensive for something that can be played on pretty much anything that can connect to the internet.

I'll pass on this for one single reason, the games are pre-loaded. I would pay well over $60 if they offered 30 cartridges. If i want them digitally i'd either get them on Nintendo's virtual console or on emulators. It is a cool idea, but digitally.... definitely not for me

Why wouldn't a guy just get an emulator and some ROM's? for free....
Fools and their money I guess.
