I Think Runescape is a pretty good game. I'ven been a member for 2 years on it and i really enjoyed it. To have fun playing it, you need to have a good character ( above lvl 70 ) and have some great skills like fishing cooking woodcutting and fletching because without that, I admit it's not really funny. But for the graphics, I just don't get why the people want some nice 3d graphics instead of basic 2d graphics I personnally think that 2d is better. Maybe you'll think i'm crazy but I've been around here for about 1 month ( I have been silent since now ) and I never find out a game which i enjoy playing like Runescape. If you want to give me suggestions about some games i could try go ahead but I still think Runescape is the best MMORPG out there. And if you say : Oh he's a 13 years old kid... I'm not, I'm 16 close 17 anyway the question is not there... Pardon me for my bad english it's because I come from Canada ( Quebec ) and my native language is French... Anyway, what do you think ?

I've played both versions of RuneScape for well over 5 years. Yes i know go ahead shoot me, but I seriously agree with the above quote. Graphics arn't a whole lot, but it pends on the game you play. Like Conquer Online for one.

I just want to start out saying that I just made this forum account to reply to this specific topic. I've been browsing the MMORPG.com site for awhile, but this post intrigued me to start one.
Let me start off that RuneScape is horrible. The quests are mediocre and repetitive. It's either "kill this dude" or "fetch this, then that, then this" or "fetch this to make item to kill massive power dude that will own you."
PvP in RuneScape boils down to if you have better stats/items, not skills. OOH, I can eat 30 lobsters and beat you. So what, where's the fun in pressing one button over and over again to do nothing.
RuneScape looks like crap. Yes, I know, graphics aren't everything, but when it looks like a 5-year-old's finger painting, it goes a little too far beyond playability.
Combat in RuneScape is basically click and wait. There is NO strategy at ALL involved in combat. Just click and wait. Click and wait. LEVEL!! YEY!! Click, and wait some more! Ooh, my health is low, eat a lobster! YEY!
Also, the ways to make money are so bland and boring and monotonous it's UNBELIEVABLE. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO CUT WOOD FOR?! WTF?! And Firemaking? What kind of skill is that? There's no real "class" or anything, so everyone can be "godly" - 99 everything. Mining is just basically click to you get your inventory full, and then you walk to the bank and walk back. Repeat. Again. Maybe you'll have a bit of money, but nothing much. And FISHING. Whoa, how boring is that?!
And, there's no real cool items. Sure, there's DRAGON items! WHOA! The choice of items are VERY limited. The names are really bland, and they all have the same names. There's no "legendary items" either, which, IMO, is really stupid.
Now to Guild Wars: The quests in Guild Wars are varied, and are actually fun because of the gameplay. In the main story quests (my favorite), you can complete your main objective or have a bonus mission and get extra stuff for it. It rewards you for taking time to actually do something outside of the main quest. That brings me to the storyline. There's an actually STORY for Guild Wars, that's very interesting and is very thought-out. Where in RuneScape you have no story, and there's no fun!
Combat isn't just some "click and eat some potions so you don't die" spamfest. It takes skill - skill where the best items may not do very much for you. You can't just click attack and expect to kill a monster. You have to use your skills to actually bring them down. And there's a variety to the skills. Do you put a curse on a monster to slow/stop his killing speed, and before it wears off do damage to him for having it? Or do you do a power-strike with your axe and then finish him off with some thunder?
Also, you can team up in GROUPS. In RuneScape, you're just a lone hero, and you can't join a party/group and get some easy experience. It's all solo. It's fun to use strategies between two players to kill. Maybe you have a necromancer/monk to summon creatures and heal them, and have a warrior/mage to be the main damage-dealer/tank.
There's actually CLASSES - you can specialize in combat, anti-casting, healing, magic, summoning, ranging, and you can mix and match classes. Do you want to be an anti-casting summoner? Or a ranging magician? You decide, and your specialities make you different than the other guy, where in RuneScape the guy could be an EXACT COPY of you.
Guild Wars has extremely detailed graphics. The glow of the world makes everything easier on the eyes. The models are well done, and the creatures are varied. There's no boring rats. The enemies are detailed. In RuneScape, giants are boring; they don't feel like they have any real power.
Money is made in the battlefield. You kill things and get items, and you can salvage these items to make money, or an item itself is valuable - or through quests (which like I said - are actually FUN). It's all combat; no boring woodcutting or stupid mining. It's actually FUN to try and make money.
The items don't have boring names like "Iron Longsword." They also have really cool designs. The weapons (even in the beginning!) look awesome. When I started out I picked up an ball axe that looked like a ram's head. It was AWESOME. I felt like I actually had a cool item. RuneScape? Yah, you have a "steel scimitar" - and so does half the world. Almost everyone looks different. You can change the colors of items so you look different that everyone else.
I think that about does it...I don't feel like writing more. All I have to say is that if you say RuneScape is better then Guild Wars (especially PAYING for RuneScape), then you seriously need some help. You're saying you'd rather work at McDonald's than a million dollar-paying job because "it's more exciting" - if RuneScape was fun, and Guild Wars was a ton of cash, I'd take the FREAKIN' CASH.
To end it: THERE IS NOTHING MORE FUN IN RUNESCAPE THAN ALMOST ALL OTHER MMORPGS. The End.
