Been looking for a new game with pvp. I'm hoping for something that doesn't force you to be in a guild. I don't mind joining a guild and will eventually, but don't have one to start with since I don't know if I will stick in any of the games. What do you think about these upcoming games?

I chose CU next would be definitely Crowfall because I like the dark themes it has. CU looks like the best game for me, and I mean me, because we all have different tastes and I respect that immensely. I saw some in action footage of Albion Online, and I realized this game was not for me.

Picked Camelot Unchained, i think it has the most promise, although see how it goes, not a fan of crowfall, but i don't like marvel heroes either, just not my kind of game, Albion Online looks like a moba, so zero interest there.
If anything, CU looks more like being an actual MMO than the other 2, from character creation, to the worlds themselves, doesn't mean i think the other 2 games are necessarily bad, just not the types of games i would naturally have any interest in. :o

I backed CU and will just stay with that for now.  Don't think I will back another one until I see how this turns out!!!!

I like the premise of Camelot Unchained and Crowfall but Camelot Unchained looks like the kind of game that will provide a very well rounded satisfying experience. Crowfall interests me as well. I like their idea of the worlds dying and campaigns changing but seems a game played better in doses rather than CU which seems to be a more full on invested MMO game. Plus CU has the The Depths, the trirealm dungeon that is intriguing and I like that they built a custom engine for their specific needs.
Albion I have no interest in.
I'm actually backing this game. This is the only game I currently back, because I really want to see it made. I hope it gets released, because the team behind it is full of Allstars.

I picked "other" because I never plan to back anything lol.  I do hope the CU gets finished and released.  When it does, I will give it a go for sure.

As I am a KS backer of CU the choice was obvious. ;)

    Crowfall.

I don't know if its ideas will work, but it's different enough that it's worth trying.

    CU

Both CU and Crowfall have some great ideas for PvP that will keep it fresh and interesting for long periods of time so I'm hoping both will be successes.

However, CU wins my vote for the following reasons:

    • Art Style - I just don't really like the way CF looks. CU doesn't look particularly special, but CF artstyle puts me off.
    • Development Approach - The guys at CSE seem to have the best approach. They're building from the ground up - engine, world building, CUBE, ability system - to ensure the game can achieve its goals. The CF guys aren't, which makes me think their game will be less stable when it comes to large scale pvp.
    • CUBE - This single feature in CU has me really excited. Design your own buildings! Not just buying a preset house off a crafter, but actually being able to fully design the blueprints for anything you want, then going out into the world to build it.
    • Persistence - In CF, the pvp happens out in the various campaigns which are limited duration. In CU, the world is persistent. Whilst CFs approach will help keep things fresh, I want there to be a healthy community and persistence helps with that. I'm hoping that CUs crafting / cube system will help change the terrain / buildings often enough to keep it fresh too.
    • Combat - CF is opting for action combat. I dislike that. CU will probably have some action combat elements, but hoping not too much. Plus, the ability builder in CU sounds amazing! There are no fixed skills. Players "create" their own skills for truly unique characters.

All of them should have enough money to reach launch so no reason to back any of them for other reason to play the game immediately. At this point none of them are good enough to warrant an early purchase.

    Heroes and Villains.

Since they don't have any funding system yet, then City of Titans.

One caveat; I don't back games at all  any more until I try them, no matter how enticing the pre-order offer is.

    CU.

Just because i am a fan of MJ, not so much after the TOA fiasco but he has regained my trust.  The team he has assembled for this project are phenoms imo.  Taking awhile to get to Beta, but i think the wait will be worth it.

Would still be CU, the crowfall combat has been so disappointing, it's just not fun. Even at these early stages of development it's easy for me at least to see the difference.

As someone who played DAoC and UO/SB I'm not convinced CU or Crowfall offer the PvP experience I'm interested in. Not to diminish those games, because they were all more enjoyable than anything else currently out there, I just don't see what they've proposed offering a fun long term mmorpg experience. Particularly in the case of Crowfall, which is going for a seasonal approach.

My favorite PvP experience to date by far was EQ on Rallos Zek. Open world contested PvE content gave us both more to do and more to fight over than DAoC or SB ever did.

I'll be playing both games, but I believe Pantheon's PvP servers will provide players with a better fantasy world, more to achieve and thus, a more enduring mmo.

As long as PVP takes second place over behind PVE then cool. If the PVE games starts getting effected because of PVP then many will not be happy. I backed a PVE mmo not a PVP mmo

I remember the PVP servers in EQ which were okay but when they tried to do the same, in Vanguard it was a mess and full of cheaters to the, point of them having to shut the PVP servers down.

Rhoklaw said:EQ PvP better than DAoC? Blasphemy! Well, it might be as good, but when you have open world PvP, you may as well focus on just PvP because no PvE fan in their right mind will play an open world PvP game. This is why games like DAoC, WAR, GW2 and ESO will always have or in the case of DAoC did have higher populations than any PvP focused games like ArcheAge or Black Desert Online.
I agree with your premise, generally, but I don't know if I would put WAR in that list. I think BDO has a better population than WAR. Probably AA, too.

It's interesting that no one here is interested in Albion. I like the art-style of Crowfall. I will probably wind up giving CU a go. I think Albion will be launching soon. Any idea about when Crowfall and CU will launch?

Other, cause none of those titles interest me but again I don't back up any games. I don't understand how a company that has no budget to make a game expect backers to throw money at them so they can make more money?  How is this different from beggin for money?
Gaming Companies have you heard of banks and loans?

Banks aren't great at lending to gaming companies. Developers usually have to get their funding from publishers (like EA), it is extremely rare that developers can fund development of their own games.

However, bringing publishers on board has its difficulties. First, you have to convince them your idea is good AND will make a lot of money, otherwise they aren't going to invest. For niche products, that pitch is very hard to make. For entirely new ideas its even harder. On top of that, you often end up having to make concessions to the publisher, losing some creative control.

As both Crowfall and Camelot Unchained are niche products in a niche market, I imagine getting a publisher on board would have been extremely hard but I believe both teams have experieced the negative impacts of giving up creative control to publishers. Mark Jacobs certainly got shafted by EA when developing Warhammer: Age of Reckoning and one of his main reasons for going the crowd funding route was to retain 100% of the creative control.

CU is continuing the 3 faction RvR system that made DAoC so great. Not having mirrored classes seals the deal.
