Your explanation for the pop-ins is so ridiculous. It's just lazy and poor programming and design, nothing more. And its the main reason why I quit this game in the first 5 hours. It made me rage and boil inside just by looking at the screen. (Ps I never rage)...
The health bar actually got down quite a bit. Each time you hear that "clink" sound, he sips a potion. And those are just regular mobs.
It was the same in AC1. And it was fun. And it's still fun.
Now try to go do the same with Ogres for instance... good luck.
In BDO, YOU, the player, chooses his difficulty level. That's a concept I noticed to be hard to understand for people used to forced grouping MMOs like EQ.
This is just a try-hard potshot at EQ. "YOU, the player," chose your difficulty level in EQ as well, but you also choose your group difficulty level and as a massively multiplayer game, the most rewarding content was grouped.
Sorry you felt so oppressed playing EQ, you really missed out. Hope next time you go to a restaurant you don't have a panic attack when you realize there's "forced" seating. Its sort of an inherent part of dining, much like grouping in a traditional massively multiplayer game.
Almost the very definition of trolling imo (what Dullahan is doing that is).
Pointing out slavery in a game is trolling? Seems more like I struck a nerve.
You didn't just point it out though, you tried to make an issue out of a non-issue, hence the trolling:
"Frankly with all the racial controversy as of late here in the US, I'm surprised this game is even legal."
While you or I may not think its an issue, the belief that its a non-issue is like, just your opinion, dude.
When one considers the fact that slavery has absolutely nothing to do with race, and has been used in most developing civilizations since before recorded history, then yes it's a non-issue. Saying "I'm surprised this game is even legal." is just ridiculous considering the amount of violence in modern video games. But then again, you didn't really have a point to begin with, you just wanted to take a pot-shot at the game and the OP.

Who said it has anything to do with race? I didn't contest that it wasn't part of history. Those are "non-issues."
Honestly, I pointed it out because its funny, and controversial. That people are going full on apologetics mode only suggests that its of greater importance than they are letting on.
Ignore the haters. I have been playing since release and have no grown bored at all. It is not perfect, but what MMO is? There are issues that I am not happy about, but I am still logging in and playing every day despite them. Good MMO in my opinion. Yes people, go look up the word opinion.
Aye, no good mmorpg nowadays, you can find like dozens of cons on any number of them , but if pros are worth playing, enjoy the hell outta them untill you burnout
I'd like to try it by myself, usin the free trial giveaway offered by this site, but I can't enter the code in BDO shop. No space for that, only links to 'Change password' and 'BUY NOW'... Any help?
I keep writing stuff on your review Holden forgive me but just wanted to share my experience and my kids and husband are fed up with me talking about this game so you all have to listen to me.
I finally got enough lead and started making my ferry in Velia. I do realise that it would be better to make the Fishing Boat but for now with my limited contribution points this is the best I can manage as my highest level is about 28. I chopped the timber to planks then I made the plywood. Got my workers to craft the lead ingots and I slaved getting the sap and scantling. I put everything in Olvia and I send my worker to Velia shipyard and I then realise to my horror he has to work on each individual resource one by one. Of course nothing is that simple naturally it makes sense that you need time to make a boat ,how daft am I. I get it now when people talking about putting more workers so I yanked everyone off their resource gathering and set them to work on my row boat/ferry what an odd name for that tiny row boat to call it a ferry. Some of my workers were from Velia so I had to load my shitty wagon and drove the ingredients and dumped them in the warehouse in Velia, I do not trust the transport system plus it was faster for me to take them.
So I am now in the process of getting my wagon made but when I tried to get to the node manager this petrified guy in Oze Pass the mobs around him are level 50. So I just ran around like a chicken and could not talk to him. I was wondering and I could not get any confirmation but if I use a Gathering outfit that reduces aggro you think I might be able to get the node without getting one shot ? I can't even talk to him he has mobs right next to him and they all seem very angry swinging their pick axes at me. I high tailed out of there, gee whiz.... talk about possessive colleagues.
The other thing I was curious about is whether each fishing boat like the one in Calpheon,Epheria and Altinova do they look the same or does the Altinova one look different and does the one in Altinova take different ingredients.
I looked enviously at some whale hunting videos and looked like fun this whale hunting and you can even hunt baby whales by yourself. I will need the bigger boat though..... I sound like that
You should make a thread for your BDO adventures. It's interesting to read about the game being played the way you're doing it.
I'm pretty boring and am a typical rush to endgame kind of guy, but I do wish sometimes I had more patience/didn't care about GVG so I could enjoy all the rest of the game.
Thanks for finding it interesting but I am not brave like you I'm afraid it will be savaged by the usual suspects.
I do not want to argue about what joy I find in this game and inadvertently ruin the things I do like by delving too deep and having to justify it. I am grateful that I have people like you and others who share my interest and that is enough for me.
Sometimes when you look for warts that is all you end up with and which is why I steer clear from reading too much.

The currently ongoing Seals of Valencia Event awards a fishing boat. Just wondering if you have been able to take advantage of it.
Glad you're having fun with BDO. You are enjoying yourself because you are playing it the way it should be played. A lot of people simply rush to end game to PvP, not liking to be told how to play an MMORPG, but then complain ad nauseum about MMORPG game play. BDO is an MMORPG and stopping to smell the roses and enjoying the journey is the best way to play an MMORPG. You have the right play style for BDO. You will enjoy the game a lot more, and for a much longer period of time, by playing it the way you do.
I wrote it because there's been a lot of unfairly negative and inaccurate things about BDO on the forums for the past month and it needed counterbalanced.
Your review is 100% opinion.
My review is 100% opinion.
Neither is more accurate than the other - they are just 2 different opinions that is all - because we play the same game in 2 entirely different ways - you enjoy PvE, I enjoy PvP - and as a PvP game BDO is a failure - this is my opinion.
The need to counterbalance is something that *you* seem to need - as this is something that is based on your opinion of "negative and inaccurate things' - which in reality are = anything that is not prasing BDO.
Not everyone thinks that BDO is the best game ever - and that is ok.
Not sure why you think I'm a PVE player- I'm playing the game currently with the sole goal of becoming competitive for guild PVP. I'm not a ganker and I don't kill horses, but there's more to pvp in the game than that...
Also not sure why you think PVP is a failure- node wars was the most fun I've ever had with GVG in an MMORPG during the practices and I'm greatly looking forward to official release.
And no, I don't think anyone that isn't praising BDO are "negative and inaccurate". However, many inaccurate things have been said about the game, especially recently on here, even by you, and the focus of all new threads were pretty much negative.
So I figured it would be a good time to post something positive.
Yeah I realize not everyone thinks BDO is the best game ever. Never said everyone had to agree with me and I had no problem with your opinionated review to counter my opinionated review until it was cited as "the honest review".
I apologized for that already. Maybe I should have called his more "fair and balanced?"

No?
It was very Fox Newsish if that's what you're getting at. Lots of citations of what "most people are thinking and doing" when really he's just talking about his own experiences and his guild.
In any case I was explaining that I didn't go off on his post (I didn't respond to it at all, in fact) until your comment.
I'll take the blame for this one, I lauded DMKano's post as an "honest" review, ergo by default I'm implying Holden's is not honest, which wasn't fair on my part.
I would have been better off not using modifiers that might be character related so I should have said I felt his review was a more complete effort, which appeared to present both the good and bad parts of the title.
As another noted, DMKano's post may have been promoting a bias and employing good psychological tricks to appear at first to be fair, when it really isn't, but I don't try to look to deeply into people's motivations when posting, I'm not good at that sort of thing so I take it more or less at face value.
Holden likes BDO and feels it's the "greatest MMORPG ever made", yet many would disagree. I think EVE's the best game ever, and "legions" disagree with me on that point. (cretins)
All good, we all have our favorites and I think I'd actually enjoy playing BDO for the systems described if not for the action combat, just not something I'll likely ever be into.
Psychological tricks?
Is this what this has devolved into - calling my *opinion on the game* invalid due to PSYCHOLOGICAL TRICKS??
Oh for fucks sake....
No you definitely are an infuriating poster. I'm not convinced it's intentional though- it could just be your personality and you're actually blissfully unaware of the strife left in the wake of your posts, but I don't think I've ever encountered someone so successful with passive-aggressive posting on a forum.
I'm going to blame @LacedOpium as he made the implication, not me.
