Earlier this week, our community's interest was piqued by the news that a Tibia player had reached level 998 and would soon be ready to open the 'door of mystery' that can only be accessed at level 999. We had the opportunity to chat with Lead Product Manager Martin Eglseder about this and much more.

    I figured it wouldn't be content or anything like that. It's probably just you in some crazy looking area or a dev area for teleporting or something.

    its funny if you were to take away the screenshots of this game and just read the transcript, you would think there reviewing some epic game. then you see screenshots and your like...Am I In Ready Player One?

    That's why only a level 999 player is strong enough to open it.

    There needs to be one correction to the article. It says:
    that a Tibia player had reached level 998

    If it had been a person that gained all of those levels of would indeed be quite an accomplishment.
    Tis well known that the game is over run with bots.
    Along with rampant account sharing and sold accounts.
    So this is nothing to celebrate.

    Not old news at all. We ran the story last week, sent the questions to the devs and posted them when they returned them. Same story, extended version.

    I play tibia. and obviously, not for the graphics. but more for the content and activity and fun. Im 26 yrs old and Tibia is the greatest MMORPG ive ever player. those of you who disagree and play games like WOW. U wanna know what happens when you die in WOW? nothing. You just respawn. IN tibia.. You lose EVERYTHING. so much exp. all your loot, and bag,and even some equipment. Making it one of the hardest yet most satisfying and fun MMORPGs ever. Thanks for reading.

    We are already in 2020 and there are currently 478 players level 1000+

    Unfortunately none have yet found anything interesting on the island, or at least have not reported it.

    That's insane that guys had already reached 1000+ several years ago with how slow the leveling is (or at least was) in Tibia. But I haven't played it in ages, safe to say they have much better areas for very high level players to grind now than they did in the mid-2000's when reaching 1000 was a pipe dream (I don't think anyone had even reached 400 yet and the game had already been out for a decade).
