I know season passes have been the "norm" for the past few years, but people never find an issue with pretty much games not releasing 'complete' products? Of course one can argue that the game is done and the season pass only gives stuff that is extra but its day one dlc content like episodes, is that really true? If the episodes are pretty much completed by release of the actual game, isn't that just the company purposely cutting out content? Doesn't really bother me much since I wait on discounts on 90% of new games anyway....(Tales of Zesteria got me....)

While this sounds tempting for $25 i will wait until release. I want to make sure we get a full game for $60 bucks. Why aren't those 3 episodes part of the base game if they arent part of the expansion pack either? Seems a bit shady IMO. I'll just wait and see.

SE hasn't been too hot imo or they are full of themselves, one or the other. Hitman being episodic. FFVII remake being episodic. Lets not forget what they tried to pull with Deus Ex and you build your own pack junk. I love their products, just not the company from a business perspective. Its so obvious that they're trying so hard to make money which is worrying.

More than a decade of waiting and they won't release a complete game so they can sell a Season Pass.

Should've seen that one coming. Let me know if the game is any good.

Buying it. I love Final Fantasy and the demo just made me want to play it that much more. I have replayed the demo countless times. Very excited for the release! =)

    LIES!

I have done the math, the timestamps of all your forum posts don't leave room for playing any game!

Sheez, if I didn't already know FFXV was an offline single player game, I would have thought this was a news article about a greedy cash-grab founder's pack for some cash-gated gunk.

    ....oh wait, it kinda is.

I have a feeling that season passes for singleplayer games will increase piracy a lot. In online multiplayer games it is one thing because there is little people can do against it but in a singleplayer game it is different.

When people feel rip-offed by devs they often feel justified to rip-off the developers in turn.
In my case I miss the era when you actually got all content made until launch included and then bought an large expansion every year or so instead of DLCs and seasonal passes. If the publishers can't live on that they should increase the prices instead of giving us incomplete games.

Square Enix is actually still one of the better companies out there.

They are doing great with FFXIV and did so before with FFXI. One of the few, if not only P2P MMO's that actually give you your money's worth paying a monthly subscription.
When it comes to mobile games, they are also one of the best, delivering high quality Final Fantasy releases to mobile, without using dirty F2P practices like most other mobile trash games!

EA, ActiVision and WB are far worse offenders and have been caught with their pants down time and again for purposefully holding content back for paid DLC!

I post from work most of the time. I have a very cool job. I have 4 monitors at work. Did you time stamp this? I have been off line for hours. Was playing a game and helping my daughter with homework =)
Also did you ask the numerous people on this site I game with on a regular basis? ;)
I am pretty sure that was just a playful joke?

To each their own, I bought the FFXIII trilogy package before the summer on sale for cheap on Steam and really enjoying it.

Yeah, not sure what to think of this. When I saw "Season Pass" I figured it was for the mmo. Then I saw the "XV" and got confused.

go play the witcher 3 and say they didnt release a complete product. Season passes give devs, REAL devs an incentive to expand on the story of a game you enjoy.

Yes some devs have exploited it and sold bullshit, fallout 4 i am looking at you, but Seasons passes are potentially a great thing when done right.

The reasoning behind FF7 being episodic makes a lot of sense. The game is HUGE. The amount it would cost them to release the entire game at once would make them go bankrupt. It was way easier for them back on the PS1 since everything wasn't expected to be perfect and in extreme detail, the expectations for a FF7 remake are already going to be too big to be possible but I understand the episodic releases.

Hitman was a bit weird, but people I know that played it like the fact that it was episodic because the levels are so large that they have a chance to do everything, not that it really excuses it but some people are alright with it.

SE doesn't have the kind of money they did before, the Final Fantasy series isn't the money bringer it used to be and games of the scope just cost so much to make now that the return has to be insanely high. The same reason a lot of companies are moving to just strictly mobile, since the cost of development is so low and the return is extreme. .I'm hoping FF15 can bring them enough to get them more stable but who knows.

Season passes are great for developers. Who doesn't want to get paid without giving any guarantee on the product which will be delivered later on. Great business concept.

But as a customer I have to say no thank you. In the long run I save a lot of money paying only for existing products where I know what I get before I have to pay for it.
