Whats even better is that seemed to be a whole trailer for a star wars film without any lightsabers! The star wars universe is amazing and whilst lightsabers / the jedi are cool, they aren;t needed to enjoy the galaxy. I'm hoping the film remains mostly that way too (although with vader at the end, guessing we'll see some force stuff).
The trailer also made it look like this film is bringing back something that has been missing for a while: dirt!
It may sound like a trivial thing, but the original trilogy was (comparatively) realistic - people were sweaty, armour was scratched and dented, dirt was everywhere. The originals looked like real places with real societies. The prequels, with their heavy focus on CGI, were just too clean. It really made so many sets and scenes look fake which detracted from the experience. This trailer looks gritty and more realistic and has gotten me very excited for the film.

I agree with what you said and will add something. This is based off the original trilogy. It is not a continuation or based off of the newest movie series. My father-in-law couldn't grasp that until I explained that it is the original attempt to get the plans to the death star. It fills the gap in some of the original story lines.
The Director has stated this film will be lightsaber free. It's in a time when Jedi's have been wiped out, although there will be force users. Looks like Donnie Yen is one of these, as a blind staff wielder taking out a bunch of troopers.
I'll be honest: I've been a Star Wars fan since I could toddle, but I got bored watching even that short two minutes of film. I'm a big believer in the idea that if a story needs to be told, it will be told first... and that every time you attempt to revisit said story via embellishment, you're essentially doing the original narrative injustice.
Or, in lay terms: we never required an Episode 3½ because it wasn't material that needed to be on screen. The plans got stolen, they ended up in Leia's hands, and she inserted them into R2D2. Boom. Now we can begin.
This world is fantastic. I can imagine a SWG style mmo, open world with features from No Man's Sky amongst other games. Just imagine flying in and land in Coronet spaceport on Correlia, that is once you have your own ship.
No lightsabers, so I would assume that Donnie Yen is a Teras Kasi of sorts that uses the force.
Looks better than every star wars movie out before it and the concept is much better. Even though I always disagreed with the idea of Deathstar type weapons as canon in the star wars universe. Too many untold stories pre-Return of the Jedi. TFA sacrificed the massive star wars universe for real effects and sets making it seem like a movie made in a cubical with about 20 characters and 1-2 extras. TFA copied an outdated formula, they could have modernized the original trilogy then end it there and create other stories without calling it a sequel to episode 6 because I wanted it to end there at 6. Even though the prequels had more flaws than pros, they at least made the universe feel massive to an extent.

Finally a Star Wars movie that seems to go back to "dark and gritty" and that has this long lost feeling of a desperate rebellion fight against an overwhelming opponent to it.
I think Felicity Jones is a fine choice, as i'm tired of all these Daisy Ridleys and this trend of casting shallow, inexperienced teenagers for roles that require more depth to their character and some actual acting.

Who would be your choice instead?
Emily Blunt
I don't really know Felicity Jones so I'm happy to wait and see what she's like, but if I was casting then I'd go Emily Blunt. She really won me over in Edge of Tomorrow, but she's done a large range of acting roles to prove her diversity and talent.
As for Daisy Ridley, I thought she did alright in TFA, just not great. Its a hard call to make though: do you blame the actor, the director or the writers? Most Star Wars films suffer from really bad dialogue, some actors can get away with it by injecting their own personality and style into it but some can't. I think Daisy's accent just highlighted the bad dialogue more than other actors and her inexperience meant she didn't challenge the director to make it better.

Call me crazy but I was hoping with the name Star Wars and covering Rogue Squadron there'd be some space combat this time around. Instead it's just atmospheric flight and ground combat. I'll watch it just for Donnie Yen, mind you, but gimme some spaceships doing spaceship things in freaking space, okay?
