Friendly Fire

OuchmuchOuchmuch Member Posts: 340

There is a post about adding some form of friendly fire to SWG several players have come out against it because, as they put it, they don't trust the skills of players they group with and I can see where they are coming from.

Before my account expired I was chatting with guildies saying they should implement FF with severe faction penalties for killing same faction to include anything from rank loss to courtmarshal putting the player at a nasty negative with their chosen faction (imagine killing your guildies so many times you need to grind up from -5k lol). The response was less then enthusiastic from several members who were sure they would be at -5k in record time, so it seems to me that many of the current players don't want the game to require any kind of skill... very odd.

Personaly I think FF and ammo would work wonders on the current form of pvp in swg

Sure.. make the s#!tty targeting even harder. Let's see if they get collision detection to work before you challenge the devchimps further.

It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled :( - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me.
I don't like it when you say things. - A Vanguard fan who does too.

In the Pre-CU system, friendly fire would have done a lot for the game in certain areas.  Area poisons.  CMs would have been MUCH more careful with area poisons if EVERYONE who was TEF'd would get poisoned, not just the enemy.  I don't think friendly fire in all aspects would have worked, but for area poison/disease it would have made CMs be much more careful.

Yes, it would indeed do wonders.

FF AoE: Declare, go to your overt group, drop AoE, hilarity ensues.

Mygot has a guide on using FF to grief others in BF2. I'm sure he could expand that to SWG (and bring some new subrscribers with them as well).

Ammo is great. It would add "complexity". Like foods and spices used to. For some reason, majority of people whined and moaned about having to prepare to fight.

Faction isn't worth the bytes its printed on. So what if you're -5k of your own faction. Go to a faction spawn, farm it back in 15 minutes, 13 while there are still ents that can xp buff.

What is rank? That colonel/leutenant/private thingy?

How do you determine when FF causes faction loss? What if i hit opposing overt 4 times, and friendly once. Does each AoE tick count as a hit, or just any hit causes me to lose it.

Isn't FF just a form of voluntary revenge TEF?

Wouldn't this remove imperial/rebel factions entirely, if you can attack anyone at any time?

Another idea: be of opposing faction, get under fire, run inside your opoonents group. Several of them will hit their friendlies, losing factions.

Once collision detection goes in, will the bullet trajectories actually be considered when firing? Will a large wookie be able to fire over the head of a short Bothan?

While we're at it, "ADD HEADSHOTS". And add a voiceover: "headshot", "double kill", "multi kill", "rampage", etc. with selections of voices: Vader: "hhhuuuhhh HEADSHOT hhhuuuuhhh", Leia (the xxx version) and Luke "whaa headshot whaa"

And add 3 more combat additions: armor shards (+5 to armor), health packs (run over them to gain +1000 health) and of course, the BFG-9000.

This would be so cool. Please implement it ASAP.

I'm with ya guys on this one. I'd love to see them implement FF in the middle of all this chaos. Bugs? F**k bugs!

Being able to shoot your friends. It's genius!

FF would force PVP upon everyone right? What kind of crappy FPS would it be if you could attack your own teammates but not the enemy? I'm sure that would go over well in Battlefield2.

rofl now now don't be knocking the BFG image. I do hope they bring back turn based combat, as for how things are it would be really nice, I think, to give the players what they want, then let them figure out on there own why it isn't working with the way SWG is designed image.

Friendly fire, that would be great, you will only want the best around you then and will need some real skill. That would be a pretty neat addition into the game actually. imageimage

Actually in Saturdays dev marathon they mentioned they're still working on the collision detection stuff.  When it's released we'll apparantly have the ability to jump over stuff.  Force jump anyone?

So... does the brown stain ever come off your nose, or is it a permanant fixture?

is it a big problem for the current ( and masses of newcoming ) players that there is no collision detection? - they have played 4 months without and obviously don't mind that much.

..and yeah- friendly fire would be funny-  a good TACTICAL game ( shooter) should have it- or it would be only BOOM BANG hold the trigger down.

they cant even get the current combat specials to work right, why would the add friendly fire? More importantly, why would anyone WANT them to add it? Thats just dangerous.::::36::
