I expect launch day, and maybe the next day or 2 after, to be a mess.

I'm expecting them to launch earlier than expected or later than expected. For the sake of trying their best to make the launch as smooth as possible, a slower influx of players logging on might make it more smooth. But DDOS'ing on the other hand, idk, probably rough launch. I thought Aug. 9th was going to be bad though and it wasn't. Anythings possible.
The acronym MMORPG use to mean Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game.

But the acronym MMMORPG now currently means Microscopic Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. Kappa.

I am expecting ddos as well with the fact they have been hit this past year.

The last DDOS they got hit with was a no factor for the most part. Didn't even notice it ingame or logging in. They have gotten way better at handling DDOSes and being able to mitigate it on there end by switching providers and spreading the services out over there many data centers.

They where hit just last week with a DDOS and I didn't notice a thing.

Agreed. This expansion pack seems to be getting far more buzz (positive mind you) than the past two at least. Blizzard may see a large surge for log ins. For the fan's, I hope this one lives up to the hype. WOW needs it.
Which is funny, cause as far as WOW expansions go, Legion (To me) has the least amount of content. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills watching people get more and more hyped for games that offer nothing. Games are offering less and less yet people get more and more hyped. It is insane.

As someone who has already played it this xpac is a step back into the direction the game needed.  It plays more like the game did with the first couple xpacs.  They tired to get rid of the you can do everything at one time and make the roles for each class have that individual feel again.  The weapon system is basically just another form of a talent tree that you choose which way you want to go in unlocking.  It is fun the first few times you do it but like anything it will get old if you do it on alts over and over.  I did enjoy the level scaling and being able to go wherever I choose to but it does take a little bit away for getting that feeling that you are getting stronger as you level until you get max level and get everything leveled up.

Overall I think most people will be more than happy with this xpac.  And I rather like the 3am launch for me as I sleep during the day so it works perfectly in my favor.  Want be quite as many to compete with like it would if it launched during mid-day.

And I do foresee DDOS attacks by the little kiddos that think it makes them something special to do it but it will have little effect most likely.  They have gotten really good and shutting these guys down lately.  And most likely they will have a full staff on hand just for that.

This isn't a classic launch. Game servers won't be down like it's traditionally the case. People that will be there for the "launch" would already be ingame doing their thing it's just at the announced time game will trigger an event and certain NPCs will offer a quest that sends you on a new journey.

So no traditional hammering of login servers this time only instances that host new landmass will see a surge of players.

Regarding EU launch we also start on Aug. 30th at midnight CEST that means EU will be having Legion whole 9 hours before US which I'm sure some Americans will find preposterous :) Anyways that was taken from dev's interview I could also be wrong or things changed.

I know I enjoyed the Demon Hunter and leveling up alts, some I haven't touched since the game launched.

I look forward to the server queues and ingame lag for the first 1-3 days =S ... oddly I dont mind it demonstrates how popular WoW still is. My guild is reforming for this after disbanding at the end of Cata (firelands).

How come all the reviewers say it has more content than past expansions?

You must have missed the complete mess that was the Warlords of Draenor launch.

Actually since I  set up my trading empire  in Black Desert Online and my 19 workers are all busy at their nodes things have definitely slowed down for me . I have almost reached all my goals you see except for the Grunil armour and connecting Valencia.

So I thought I would download WoW again although my last foray as a hunter failed after a week I was hoping the lower content might be challenging. I was halfway downloading and was going to sub when it occurred to me that there would be queues for at least a month and I did not fancy paying to sit in a queue. So will revisit this in a month.

That will depend on which server you're on. My horde characters are on one of the original servers that has dropped down to low pop over the years and I never have a queue even during the busiest times. My alliance characters are on a high pop server and will definitely see a queue for a while after launch.

I should take the day off and veg out on the PC!

3am launch should help them get things going a bit more smoothly. I don't even know if I can stay up that late anymore lol.

Unfortunately I always pick the most populated servers when I create a character. Mine the ones I want to play out of the 12 servers I belong to just on Europe are on Silvermoon and Nagrand.

According to the stats on https://realmpop.com/eu.html you'll have a much better chance on Nagrand compared to Silvermoon.

There's one other problem that bothers me a lot as I start thinking about playing .The money I have. I have about 400+ gold on the character and no way will I be able to gear up and play with those paltry sums with the inflation the way it is in WoW.

If I was going to just solo as hunter and explore my previous goal it would have worked but not if I want to join dungeons and play as a healer. I will not be able to get gemmed and gear up effectively. I might as well just give up. Thanks anyway for the advice.

All the best gear is from drops, you really don't need much money. And you'll make plenty through questing. Gemming was removed in WoD. In Legion I think only a few slots can be gemmed.

Should be some good Streams to watch too. Should be a good gaming week hopefully. That or a week of frustration.
