imageDo You Enjoy Horse Breeding

Earlier in the week there was a Reddit post where the author discussed finally obtaining a Tier 8 Horse. Named Diablo, the community was rightly pleased for the individual. Tier 8 horses are bloody hard to come by. Although I was glad the player obtained such a horse, my first thought was, “I can’t be arsed!” rather than, “How?”

Think with tier 9 horses the 3 neat looking ones then are added i.e. unicorn,Pegasus and the Fiery steed of some sort....I am about to get into the breeding aspect my self burt I love RNG and grinding so I am sure I will enjoy my self...(I know im off to enjoy those things but I do)

Didn't know about T9 horses thanks for the info. As to the article I feel the same way. I prefer not to grind for stuff when the reward feels minimal. But would rather release my inner whale rather then grind at times, depends on the game.
    T9 horses sound cool.

I've been playing this again and enjoying the hell out of it. I don't mind the P2W stuff so much since it's not THAT impeding on my experience. I want to breed T8 horses gahhh

Oh great another P2W BDO shill article... /sarcasm ;)

In seriousness, horse breeding is something I never even started doing, because finding wild horses was so rare when I was playing this religiously. Perhaps when I make a return.

I spent three weeks training two tier 5 horses to level 30, one male and one female. When I finally go them to 30 I though hell yeah no more slow poke sammy for me! I was going to get a T6 horse and my guildmates wouldn't have to wait for me on scroll runs anymore.
I bred them together, then I traded them in, and I received two slower T5 horses than what I originally started with. Both males.
This was the last straw for me and I uninstalled this wretched game. I still troll the forums though, it's more fun and rewarding than actually playing.

It is almost so exciting as watching paint dry or listening to grass growth. Fishing in other games is like Mythic Raid level of entertaiment compared to this :D

Sounds pretty fun, but I'm from Kentucky after all.

Personally I enjoy it. I know it can be frustrating as hell and at times is, but too many games the barrier to success is too low. Take a look at classic WoW for example. The amount of effort the Warlock had to put in to the quest to get their mount versus the effort put in to get the Paladin's mount. One left you with a sense of accomplishment that lasted for days and weeks, the other, left a hole in your wallet for about 2 days.

Yes, there is such a thing as setting the barrier too high, and an 8% chance does suck, but if the biggest complaint about Tier 8 horses is that they don't cosmetically look different than Tier 7 or Tier 1 horses, than I'd say the publisher has done a good job. The goal of a game is to have fun yes, but also to feel a sense of accomplishment as you complete goals, and since if everyone was able to get Tier 8 horses in the first 2 months there would be no lasting sense of accomplishment, I applaud their efforts to challenge us. And since you aren't required to have a Tier 8 horse, they were able to make that an actual challenge rather than just running up to a vendor to purchase it.

And yes, chocobo breeding was fun and simple.

The only issue with horse breeding is the time it takes to level a horsed which is important to breeding success, otherwise it is a nice distraction and something "different to do". Right now it involved afk auto pathing on your horse for like 4-5 days to get into the level 25-30 range, I think they really needed to add some sort of active training activity to help you level your horse really fast like some obstacle courses or such.

It's very RNG makes me feel more like "The Claw has chosen you!" more than something earned. The Bigger breeders I know do more than I thought with their Credit Card. Breeding resets, skill changers, are the obvious it was the "Premium Appearance Change" that surprised me. They got this to give the horse exp so they did not have to level as much. Also this added more skills so they can sell off their stinkers for more. Then buy other "stinkers" off the marketplace and send them to their Fairy Credit Card Mother to be turned into sexy top sellers after resetting breeds or just to turn some silver. Very slot machine like with a horse theme.

"The chance of getting higher tier horses while breeding has been increased." :)

hey, I'm the author of that reddit post! I'm currently working on getting a female t8 for t9 horse breeding, when they become available. Months of effort, very frustrating to say the least :/ I'm leveling up my umpteenth wagon of t7s currently. Also there is a clear difference with the t8s. I got double instant acceleration so it's twice per cycle instead of once. I can pretty much outrun any other player on the server and as a mounted witch, it's pretty awesome in node wars :D

Seriously, how much time do you spend playing this game on a weekly basis?

I have only just started playing and still in the honeymoon phase but I can see myself enjoying this game much more than AA due to the bigger array of non-pvp activities there are to do in it.

    can't say that I do.

I just have the two horses given to me by the game (one for buying a starter pack and the other was for some sort of event) and I ride and level them that way and that's pretty much it.

When I was still playing it was one of my favorite activities, much better than the lackluster PVE.

I've done my fair share of it. Like most things with BDO's RNG, it's an exercise in frustration. I've even got a T8 horse, and then it got complete shit abilities.

My advice if you want a good horse? Try to buy it from someone, because RNG will fuck you over time and time again.

The only real way to get one of the super horses that move at the speed of light seems to be to drop a few hundred bucks on gambling tickets to change skills. :D

That, or be extremely, extremely lucky and get the much desired instant accel + drift combo. And even luckier to get 2-seater atop of that. xD

The real question there is... "How much do you leave your PC on with your wagon auto-pathing back and forth?" ;)

No one trains their horses actively. xD
