What's your image of SWG is burned in your brain?

Mine is way back when on pre-cu starsider in my jedi days.... The yellow grass on dantooine when I was completely alone and grinding grassland voritor lizards (1150xp biatch). It was so relaxing for me just to be chatting in guildchat, watching my radar, and listening to music (while spamming derv 2 :P). That's really what I remember the most, and I loved those days.

Hell, I spend hundreds of hours playing that game pre-cu and didn't get bored, cu was bearable since people were still around. Now when the NGE came out I got bored within 15min of playing. COMPLETELY new for me.

I still remember my first day of playing, was with a newbie friend and we had our camp stolen, and then the guy packed up and ran off with it. I would give anything to have those days back, I miss all my friends in the game....that's really what I played it for. I made great friends in that game, and I still keep in touch with them on a daily basis. It's just nice to have a game where you choose when to fight, and when to relax and go shopping for guns :P.

What about you guys? What image do you remember in swg the most?

My favorite images are playing with my bro. He had a Bounty Hunter (Rand-Poul Stryker) and I had a Pistoleer/CH (Lothor Crestingwalker). We would group and I would send my pet to aggro the target and then we would mercilessly shoot the beggar down. Then the adventures we would have. (Fort Tusken, Rogue Corsec Bunker, Etc, Etc.) The one I will always remember is the night we went gungan hunting. That is a classic memory for me. The there was the time we went to Endor and got chased, yes chased, like fools by spiders. Well we got cocky and tried to kill us some eight legged freaks and got owned by them. Thankfully a Master CH/Master rifleman came and bailed us out.

Some other images were of my friends I made along the way. I loved hanging out in the cantina and watching my friend Shina Caline dance. Then there Was Tubek Tykerian (another real life friend of mine) He and I would group and hunt babies for me to tame. I remember the Galaxy City Mall outside coronet. Loved thier stuff. They had the best crafters IMHO (pre-CU). Miss chatting wih Doku Skye (Thanks for that graul baby BTW). Never got to adventure with ya but enjoyed talking to ya. I enjoyed hunting creatures for fun and profit as well as babies for my menagerie. Miss talking with Kiten, she was a sweetheart, sorry never went adventing with her either. I really liked fighting Imps on Rori. Got whupped but whupped some my damn self. ::::17:: Miss running in to the whole HVND crowd, was a member for like a day but always helped defend the island when I could. ::::17:: Miss the VED dudes (sorry Ezis I quit before I could finish payin ya off for that Krayt tissue pistol)

I miss the nine year old kid feeling the first time I fired a blaster. I laughed and felt that I was part of Star Wars that very first time. Yeah Pre-cu was cool, nay awesome, and I miss it. Tried a few times to play after cu and didn't like it. Then when the nge came out I tried for like a day but couldn't play it because the game was too far gone for me to enjoy.

I miss roaming the wastes of Tatooine, dodging Tusken Raiders as a newb and later owning them as TKA. I miss the intense times crafting, hoping, begging, that this buff packs succeeds. I miss hanging out with the Anchorhead Rebel Task Force crowd, man those guys were fanatically territorial! image

The MO and Coronet filled with people trading and getting buffed. Meeting new and old friends there and heading out to kill a Krayt, do a vette run, geo cave, base take downs or hitting Bestine.
Man those where the days ::::01::

Coronet, Corellia. Sitting with the other Image Designers in a packed ID Tent near the shuttle, experimenting with new looks on a wealthy young zabrak pikeman. He stepped into our tent looking like just another Darth Maul and lamenting his lack of success with the ladies. He left our tent looking hot enough to melt durasteel with a pair of twilek dancing girls.

The screenshot is long gone, but the sight is indeliably marked into my memory. XLu was the most beautiful zabrak I have ever seen. Afterwards, I have always called that particular eye colour Xlu Blue.

Lots of players. When i started they were everywhere. Never a dull moment. When i feel an urge to play i just remember how few people were on last time i played and just try to forget about it.

And for those of you who were on Chimaera, Babette!!!

The primary image that comes to my mind was a guild exploring trip to Endor. We'd been hunting for a while, and several members of the group had to leave - so the rest decided to go check out some of the near by POI...one of which was an Ewok tree village.

We were standing there, looking up at the city, and admiring the cute little guys...when all of the sudden, one of our group members that unbeknownst to the rest of us had negative faction with them rolled into agro range.

What ensued was a brutal massacre as the 'cute little guys' proceeded to kick the crap out of most of us before we knew what had hit us. Those that were not almost immediately incapped and then DB'd presented a fairly Monty Python, "Run Away!!!"

The first Sunday, after the game was released. I had been going back and forth completing delivery missions for the Imps so I could join them. That evening, the server crashed and I was stuck at the Imp outpost with no money and no way home. So I had to walk back to Daeric.

Now remember this is the second day of the game's life. It was the longest walk I ever made. Completely alone in a universe I knew absolutely nothing about.

From then I was hooked and started exploring. That is what I remember most.

Mine started in Theed just after fendng off a rebel raid me and the officer from another guild formed up a mixed group of Sanctuary and The Imperial Guard to hit Moenia. Once we had the full 20+ some tag alongs we all hit the shuttles and started loading in the Moenia starport, all the fast loaders rushed the halls to defend those that were taking longer, once all where in place the battle that began was more Star Wars then ever (even with the lack of Storm Trooper armour image).

It was a step by step battle, blasterfire everywhere, the corpses of the fallen littering the hallway, as we continued to push the rebels out into the streets. After a prolonged battle the rebel force was finaly destroyed..

That battles was such a huge blast I am sure it will always be in my memory image

After the NDA was lifted, someone asked what Ewoks were like. A beta tester replied "They are what happens when a wookie and the devil have children."

Early Ewoks were freaking psychotics. They could tear a group 20 elites up in a matter of moments. I loved them. First few months of the game there were places you just didnt go.

any of you ever log onto tat in a house out in the middle of nowhere, and when you walked outside there was a tusken observer waiting for you? Lol, I had that happen to me and I waited for about 30 min for some of my friends to come buff me/help me get the hell out of there.

And remember all the combat spam at hospitals? "so and so stands up, stands up" with the tumblers? And buff lines and 10 min shuttle waits? Those may have seemed like little annoyances but THOSE were the times when people kicked back and socialized. I met MANY people in bufflines

I remember the Battle of Daeric on my server. It started because I was a bugged Imperial. I would pop overt without doing anything. And I loaded into Daeric unknowingly overt. I was set upon by 4 Rebs. When the Imperials in my guild got the news, they got upset. So the big hancho grabbed all the Imps he could and we all fell on Daeric.

Half of us headed down to Daeric from the Imp outpost, on foot. The other half waited for them to get close then loaded into the shuttleport. The fighting was ferocious. They came at us, near the shuttle, enmasse. Then our guys they footed it hit em from behind and we began pushing them back to the cantina.

We cleared out the Rebs around the cantina (No fighting in cantinas or med centers was our server rule) and pushed them further back to the med center. Finally we were in front of the clone center. But instead of corking them we pulled back to the cantina. They regrouped at the spaceport with reinforcements and pushed us out of Daeric completely.

We retaliated by swinging way out and coming in from the south. Something they didnt expect. We took Daeric again and held it for about an hour before I finally logged.

The next day I logged in and found Daeric was in another battle. Unbeknowst to me it was the same battle. It lasted past server restart. I fought a little while. But it was mainly a pushing pulling contest. I went to hunt on Dath and found the battle still going on

The following day, a Sunday, the battle was still raging. 3 days and still no end in sight. Finally in the evening, the Reb leaders and Imp leaders came to a truce. No more hunting of bugged players or exploiting them.

That was a good weekend. And yet one more thing we will never see again.

crowded cities full of people dueling, laughing and SPAMING lol

starting solo groups and trying to make people laugh to get the conversation going so that we could all kick back and relax and laugh as we spammed f1

shopping in people's shops that were decorated amazingly with aquariums and fireplaces and tv's and anything else you could ever imagine.

standing around in cantinas with my guildies just laughing and chatting and making fun of the rp'ers ::::40::

spontaneous pvp battles in theed, bestine, and ah

seeing how many krayts i could tank at once with my mswords/mdoc while my bf shot them with his exceptional t21. I used a shitty little axe to tank and people used to /t "omg what are the stats on that thing!". I guess they didnt see the rifleman behind me. "Its an exceptional heavy axe, it dropped off a chuba" "NO WAY!".

The flat part of northern endor where my jedi friends and i would grind endlessly.

ahhh so many more, i'd be here forever trying to list them.

    For the Horde!

  • Ok, I'll say it...

The music and such that went off when I mastered Doctor (profession 21) and it unlocked Jedi.

THAT image and sound will live forever for those of us that did it.

It was the doctor trainer just outside the Hospital in Coronet. I freaked out (as did my family), spammed guildchat. They met me in Coronet and we celebrated... surrounded by TONS of people that congratulated me.

I was the first in the guild to do so.

Watching multiple enemies run off in terror as their minds ticked for 600-1000 after I applied my uber dots lol. MIND FIRE FTW!!! The best weopon ever concieved is the mind fire weopon imo, for like 3 month in SWG after I had my uber set of armor and dots I was unbeatable by any player 1vs 1 pre-cu and that will always be burned into my mind.  Best pre-cu temp ever: Master swordsman/Doc 4030/Pikeman 2004, 90% base 39% stun comp armor with extreme mods, jaunta blood cures and stims, (exceptional) NS lance 610 mind poison, 285 mind fire lance and a 1021/447 damage powerhammer! TAXYOU AXYOU was a freakin PvP beast and SOE just had to go and ruin my fun((.

    The sounds.

Although Mr. Sarge eluded to the sounds regarding a specific event, my "burned image" is the overall sounds of the game.  The firing/ using of certain weapons, the roar of a Krayt, the tunes of certain musicians, simply opening your inventory window, and all the ambient sounds of a city with the shuttles landing and taking off.

Ironically, all are most of these are most likely still in the game.  I just can't justify paying for a game with my eyes closed.  It would be like going to a restaurant for the  "atmosphere" when the only food served is Opossum on the half-shell right off the highway.

Running the gauntlet through thugs, Desert Demons, Spice Fiends and Jabba's henchmen on the way out from Espa to my house.  Burstrunning and hoping I'd get out of range without getting too mauled.

Opening the frond door of my house after logging in one day and finding a giant womprat camping on the front step. I was incapped before I had time to think "ok, this is awkward..."  Then when I was lying spradeagled on the ramp up to the house the dirty rat came down, sat on my chest and DB'd me.  Very Room-101.

    I miss...

    Fun.

    And friends.

    And helping newbs.

    And planet chat.

And my first composite armor. If i recall it was 34% Kinetic, and it was the best on the server.

Looking for a good place to put a harvester, a Kryat basically spawned on top of me.  I almost crapped my pants!  Needless to say that I died because it breathed on me!
