    .
(and you cannot even fit T2 mods with Alpha clones)
I couldn't find if that is true or not.
There is a whole list of mods that can and cannot be fitted with alpha clones, but yes, don't expect to be able to use tech II mods, and possibly some tech I mods. Its not as bad as you might think though, as there are 'meta' levelled mods that approximate tech II functionality.

Blanket statement but mostly true due skill levels limitations - you won't be able to fit most(if not any) T2 modules.

It is precisely as "bad" as one could think.

I guess you haven't played for some time but modules were rebalanced and they got rid of that "meta 4" that were as good as T2 or even better - same stats, less fitting requirements.

T2 modules are now indeed worthy.

You can still use faction modules tho, they are cheap(ish) and got silly boosts...

Will not get me back.  I was happy years ago with paying every other month. Start a long skill training then cancel and come back in a month and pay and play for a month. Then just do it all over again.

When they stopped me from being able to train my skill after sub stopped. They lost me. Have not been back since then, and this training lvl 1 skills will do nothing to get me back.

Might get enough people to play to keep them going for a few more years. We will see.

If you are still training level 1 skills you are doing it wrong. Again if you were not able to buy plexes after your first month.
If you were a total noob you'd easily be able to plex multiple accounts after 4-6 months of subscriptions.
    Not to mention dual training.

But the way you were doing it, sub, set long skill training, cancel, play for some weeks then disappear till the long training is finished, you probably never learned the playing skills and got to know the game to make decent money ingame. edit: fixed typos.
I was way way past lvl 1 skills:P all the ones i was training were 30 days or so.

I would play for a month then set a skill i wanted and cancel for a month. They were getting 2 accounts paid from me every other month.  Did not like playing for more than a month at a time. Take a month or 2 off and come back an resub.

But that was not good enough i guess. So they get nothing from me ever again.  It is  their game, their call. Just saying being able to train lvl 1 skills with this trial thing or f2p whatever it is called is nothing that interests me at all.  Lvl 1 ships again no interest at all.

I do not care  about plex...they are always trying to get me to open my old accounts with the trade my isk for plex.  Just not something i wanted to do. Heh i have plenty of isk though.  I liked running missions with 2 accounts so i always had more than enough isk for anything i wanted. So ISk or getting plex if i wanted was not an issue. They made the way i liked to play no longer an option so i left, that was it. And this move does nothing to change that.

So you "exploited a loophole" in the system to train your skills without paying and then complain it "was not good enough" to CCP.

    Priceless.

The only thing they specified that I saw was they will limit you to t1 ships and limit you on certain skills.  They didn't say how limited the skills are.  We would hope they will only limit the ships and allow everything else but I'm not seeing any definite answer to that yet.
Are you onto something or just on something?

This reminds me of Anarchy Online. They had froobs (free playing noobs) for years and they were welcome , if only for keeping the numbers on the servers up. It can work well for a MMO that offers a lot of group content.

Difference though is that f2p in AO was less restricted it seems then what EVE is going to offer. It is tricky, offer not enough and most people will only try it and then move on to a different game. Offer too much and most people will stay f2p and won't move on to p2p.

It does limit your ability by making it so you cannot use any T2 modules.  But it does also allow you to prepare yourself for that climb by letting you train a lot of stuff up to lvl4.  Considering a lot of the lvl5 skills will take you 15-30 days anyways.  I can see this as an easy setup to grind ISK so you can buy some plex for full membership.

Just though of something. Each system will have one f2p dude in t1 frig with t1 cloak spying for big alliances. No need to spend money on scouts now. Yaaay ccp.

Also massive inflation due to f2p desire to purchase plexes. Watch the price of tritanium drop and price of plexes rise.

No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.

Getting ISK wasn't a problem of trial accounts before in the first place, only now it will be "harder" because the limitations are much severe - lower train rate and limitation not only on skills but their levels too.

I think people do not realize how much T1 sub BC suck...and I say it as someone who was running T1 sub BC ships pretty much exclusively(and still love it), despite +50M SP.

As usual you talk about things you know nothing about.

This "loophole" as you call it was advertised by them when they started this game. And was there for several years till they decided they could make more cash by changing it.

Well they did not make any more from me.

Was not a loophole since they advertised it right?

Like i said their game, their call to change it, as well as it was my call not to continue subbing.

And back on topic, like i said nothing that this trial/F2P adds will change that for me.

EvE online was never a good game, it's a pretty game and sold on its good looking ships and space scenes. Even the original developer called it a pretty ship game. Unfortunately it's what sells. The endless grind is atrocious and the PvP is no absurd only the veterans are having any fun I guarantee you. Epic space fights in that game or so rare it makes the news. If you have some community you're enjoying then great, you can get that in WoW also. Most veteran players mention the same thing when talking about their experience in Eve  "The few cherished moments you experience in the game does not make up for the years of overwhelming boredom"

Eve Online is an old game and it will be replaced by Star Citizen, another game which has been hyped into oblivion on nothing else but it's good looks, production value, "cool feature list" and elitist P2W gameplay. Space ship fighting with Newtonian physics has NEVER been a fun way to play. FPS fighting on a ship has been done 1,000 times before with LESS realism to make it much more entertaining. Having "death" translate to loss of real money to make fights tense is a very old money grabbing trick.

Perhaps I'm just older now but I've experienced these games for decades and I hope that most of you can see them for what they are and move on to actual good games within weeks or days of trying them out for $10-$20 instead of 8 years and $1500.

    1) If you put the effort into making friends in game, the game can become F2P early on. (Join a wormhole corp)

    2) Eve already has an in game store.

    3) You can already buy characters for in game money and if you choose pay real money for PLEX to buy the character. (Plex is a month sub that can be bought from CCP and sold in game for in game currency)

    4) Just remember that any real $$ spent for pixels can be destroyed.....forever.

    5) There are large corps that will pay for your losses for T1 ships. If you want quick pvp and don't care about politics and being canon fodder....this extended play model will work for you.

    6) If you are into the politics, only the top 6ish on either side of the war actually have fun in the battles. Everyone else is hitting F1 and changing targets.

    Strongly disagree.

Don't play EVE anymore, RL took over, but played off & on for 7 years, had 9 paid alts at one time & my Main had/has over 100M SP, & EVE is the MOST immersive & uniquely fun gaming experience I've ever been a part of, EVER.

Some hated the game, which yeah, happens, it's not a game for everyone, but, IMO anyway, EVE isn't just a good game, when I had the time it was a GREAT game, close to the best I've ever played in too many ways to count. Mainly for me because with time, planning & effort, in EVE I could be anything or everything I wanted to be.

The lack of rails is yes, very daunting & challenging, but scraping out a living via your wits & the skin of your teeth versus any & all opposition, is what made the game so much fun. Yeah, sometimes those same teeth got kicked in mightily, & there were discouraging setbacks & hard disheartening learning experiences & virtual life lessons all around, but again, that was a huge part of the fun.

That's why even though I haven't even logged on in almost 2 years, I still feel a 'draw' from the game, I still follow news about the game. If it wasn't fun for you, ok, fine, to each his own, it's a totally subjective opinion so that's ok, & also completely understandable, it's never been a game for everyone, especially for more casual players, but to say that players only play the game because of the graphics is ludicrously hilarious.

The game wasn't always so shiny, take a look at the original ship models, & I didn't even have any great-looking ships in the beginning, I was flying crap.

The reason that EVE is & was great & popular & uniquely addictive was always because of what you can do in the game, not what you had, or what it looked like, it was because the game is a living breathing universe, which is why I couldn't continue to play it, because the game requires more time & dedication than I can give it right now.

Was talking with 2 friends who used to play EVE as well when I did & also had to give it up, & we all agreed that if we retired tomorrow, we'd ALL go back to playing EVE. Not many games have that kind of draw, do they?

It was bound to happen. The sub-only model is no longer viable for the genre. It hasn't been for several years now. Not even WoW is a pure P2P game ever since they introduced the subscription token which can be bought with gold. EvE's plex system is also similar, so it wasn't really pure P2P either.

What amazes me is how many multi-subbed to this game...i was never impressed by it tbh but still for people to throw that kind of money at it was unreal.

I think between the two of us a friend & I had at least 16 subbed accounts, lol. Totally worth it though.  =)

    I find it very fun.

That stated, I appreciate Eve for its near-religious following, the ship designs, and its strict adherence to a 'single-server-single-shard' architecture which a MMORPG should ideally have.

I don't really have a feeling on this either way to be honest.  It's a pretty shitty F2P with extreme limitations so it will only be good for a trial really.  I don't think it will effect population trends at all, except with maybe a slight bump after the big ads go out advertising it.
