Was looking for a new singleplayer game to play for a while as I've been so hooked on mmos, I've not been paying any attention to some of the other good games out there. Which of the following should I play first in your opinion? Basically just wanted to get some ideas before investing into a game for X number of hours. I've played the previous versions of any sequels you see below so I wouldn't just be jumping straight into the 3rd game, or anything like that. My choice is basically as follows:
- Dragon Age: Inquisition
- Fallout 4
- Assassin's Creed: Rogue
- Quantum Break
- Batman: Arkham Knight
- This War of Mine
- Ryse: Son of Rome
- Life is Strange
- Just Cause 3
- Pillars of Eternity
Thanks guys.

or pillars of eternity, that game is good too.

DAI has action combat, kind of bland quests and skill development.
POI has quite a restrictive ruleset and too combat focused imo.
Fallout 4 is a giant sandbox, if you enjoyed previous installments you will like 4 probably.
I have heard terrible things about optimisation of jc3 and batman arkham knight if playing on pc beware. Can't really comment on the others.

Don't get me wrong, it's not perfect (I had to replace the starter music with some I found on the Dragon's Dogma Nexus site as the original was, to me, deplorable) but there's a lot of great stuff, the battles are very fun, especially once you get to the dark isle (black isle? dark isle, the expansion that comes it but I don't remember the name but is for higher level characters) and the "pawns" which are your battle buddies have decent ai. Heck, I was swallowed by a Hydra in the isle dungeon (which I love) and had to rely upon the pawns to kill the beast. That was a blast as I could see myself struggling in its throat.
The gear looks great, honing and training your own pawn is cool, the harpies are awesome as they lift you in the air and drop you if you are not careful, and there are some "multiple ending" things going on with some quests.
In some cases you have to make choices in quests and those could have small ramifications later on. Not huge but noticeable here and there.

Stuff like that makes fighting monsters really dynamic and can be pretty thrilling at times. DA:I big monster fights tend to be on the dull side due to the monster behavior is kind of limited. However, overall they are both still great games but I think Dragon's Dogma is a lot more bang for the buck and will give you gaming moments that you will remember and compare against other similar games.

I really liked the ending on both titles.
With DAI plus DLCs you'll be getting about 200 hours. The first one was definitely a better game but Inquisition is better than the 2nd one with a decent story and nice closure in my opinion.
If you're a Batman fan this was the darkest most terrifying Batman ever but sadly the Batmobile made half the game like Rocket League. I'm not saying it's bad, just it doesn't mix well with rest of the game, it felt like they wanted to give everyone something.
If you want to play a new game both Dragon's Dogma and Divinity are the best titles in this thread. They are not as flashy as other games, but they have undeniable depth and integrity.

Dogma can be tough at first, but it's doable. Just try to create a pawn (or pawns) with abilities which complement your own and of each other, and you should do fine. I do have two pieces of advice though: When fighting lizardmen aim for their tails or you're in for a bad time, and try to stay indoors at night. Nights are very, very dark, and you are very likely to be eaten by a grue (or worse) at low levels. Even at high levels after a certain event things that go bump will still pose a challenge. It's one mechanic I really wish more RPGs would make use of.
AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

The first time I experienced a night I was out in the western part of the world and was trying to head east to the main city when suddenly in the dark I saw a purplish light. These skeleton things started rising from the ground. I tried to take them 3 times (almost won on the last try) but couldn't. Decided to make a run past them and as they were chasing, I ran through a stream and SURPRISE lizard men.
Was the most fun I've had in a long time. Oh, I "could" have used the fast travel transport stone but I try to limit that.

Could I make some alternate suggestions?

Outside of that list, Dragon's Dogma and the Witcher series.

1 - The AI aka pawns can be thought how they behave in combat which is very cool. That however means that people that have no idea about this just have their pawns with random behaviours. You could have an archer that goes melee for example. If you hire a pawn and you see him being retarded, that is why.
2 - Until you start buying ferrystones you will be walking back and forth a lot! That for me wasn't a bad thing but it could be for you? I don't know.
3 - There is a specific boss that you will encounter randomly deep in the endgame island mentioned in a post above that will frustrate you a lot. I won't say why or it's name if you'd wish no spoilers but it's quite cheap and annoying.
4 - The storyline is not that great but it works enough I guess.
5 - There's a weight limit on each character and when you create your character, each modification from height to muscles adds/remove to this weight limit. While a very interesting idea, you will often be over encumbered if you loot everything you see. You will need to loot everything you see tough if you want to upgrade your gear/weapons. The alternative is to use mods which are supported.
6 - You might stumble on some pawns that look ridiculous or talk way too much. This can be lessened on your own pawn but some people love to troll.
7 - It's a ps3 port so if you intend to play it on pc graphics aren't the greatest but they aren't terrible either.
With that said it's one of the best rpgs I've ever played with one of the best combat systems there is. Sure melee roles are underpowered in the end game due most enemies being weak to only magic but I still used strider and it's one of the best classes in the game unless you go the hybrid route (The mage/archer or mage/fighter). Mages can buff allies with elemental damage so you can still be a melee fighter.
I own the dragons dogma for ps3, but I would say you need to think of it as a cocktail of darksouls/arcania/divinity/monster hunter games. I have never completed the game but the story is not really on levels with dragon age games - those have better stories and mini stories I think.
Also Dragon's Dogma is way harder than Inquisition if that's you thing.
