Hot on the heels of Wasteland 2 and its Director’a Cut, Brian Fargo and InXile Entertainment are happy to announce that Wasteland 3 is coming, and this time we are leaving the desert for the snow covered peaks of Colorado. We stole a few moments of Brian’s time to talk about the announcement, the game, and what to expect.

W2 was a great game that wouldn't have been made if wasn't for crowdfunding. Looking forward to W3.

Just curious as to why they would need to crowdfund again, did W2 not sell well enough for them to be able to fund it on their own?

It's a good and fair question. Larian just did it with Divinity: OS 2 and I asked the same question. It's not the way I would hope these companies would continue to fund their own games, but, on the other hand, they're keeping in the spirit of crowdfunding. They ask for an amount and deliver the project. It's not a requirement to participate in the early funding. Wait until it releases.
    Fair enough.

You know in the middle of all the crowd funding, early access, and indie drama with NMS, SC, CoE, etc. This team and company are an example what make crowd funding so important as an option.

For sure. I crowd fund (as a comic reader and table top gamer it has served me well), and I have supported numerous PC games this way as well.

Wasteland 2, The Banner Saga, Shadowrun, Superhot, Elite Dangerous, Darkest Dungeon, Divinity OS... And I am really looking forward to Torment: ToN :)

Really hoping they improve the combat system, which to me was easily weakest part of WL2. Also, the vertical progression in WL2, where each gun of a certain type was simply better than the last, and having a certain 'tier' of guns was all but required to get past the next encounter, pretty much killed the immersion for me.

Apart from that if they can make the world generally more reactive, interactive and less buggy it should be pretty great. Change of setting is also nice.
