imageA Brave New Multiplayer Experience - Atlas Reactor Review

Atlas Reactor is a game unlike any other. Trion Worlds has managed to create something that’s unlike any other game in the crowded competitive marketplace, and therefore it just may well succeed where so many also-rans have failed. It also helps that Atlas Reactor is a hell of a lot of fun in its own right, with style and panache all its own. Read on for our full review.

This was kind of entertaining and the turn based team combat was a nice change of pace but I probably wont play this unless they come out with a PVE campaign, Love the fact that a lot of titles are focused on PVP and MOBA but its just not for everyone.

I actually don't mind playing this game I don't know why I hear so many complaints about it.

This game looks to be right up my alley, but, Trion. Ahh well.

If you're interested in playing, I recommend watching YouTube videos for a while before going in. The tutorial teaches you the phases... backwards. I finished the first tutorial very confused and failed the second. There is no option to re-try the second so I just uninstalled and moved on. Needless to say, I did not have a very good experience.

On a serious note, been playing Atlas Reactor a lot yesterday and a lot of Grim Dawn.

Maybe it's just me but how is it even possible to be in a gaming slump with SO many great games?

Because some folks don't play "games" but only MMORPGs? (OK I only know one person for sure like that) :)

But the idea of turned based combat has intrigued me, so in an all time first since the 90s I'm going to try something besides a RPG/MMO.

Free trial this weekend for sure.

I really really enjoy this one. Not playing it currently, but still great.

My thoughts exactly, but I'm dl'ing the free trial anyways out of curiosity.

I thought even in it's alpha and beta phases it was rather refreshing and innovative for an online game. It was more of a mix of TBS and table top games. Over time I had some mixed feelings about how many of the matches played out rather similarly though. At the time, it was always about doing the most damage or getting kills per turn as possible so there weren't very many different strategies or builds to pursue. So beyond the turn order the game wasn't very complicated. Hopefully that has change by now with some kind of tertiary gameplay loop. I'll have to give it another try.

Good review of a good game. With AA turning itself into a great MMO, Trion might be on the cusp of being a respectable company.

Some stuff was Trion was on them that did it, and the rest of the game was XL game problem. Got to make sure. If it was Trion or XLgame that did something that people didn't like at all.

Gotta let things go.  They've had Rift, AA, Trove, and now this.  It's a pretty good track record, all things considered.  Even AA has come a long way.  Move on and enjoy the new things in life and don't dwell on the negative past things.

Things aren't in a vacuum.  There are downs and despite popular perception, there are ups.

Trion should add trading system so people can trade skins with each other while payment uses cash shop currency (dunno what the name is).

This system works well in relatively short time span lobby-based game like Warframe and Dota 2. It will generate more revenue to Trion while at the same time giving players one more reason to grind the skins.

" Could use more game modes"

In addition to ranked they apparently have plans to release a new game mode by the end of the year. They also plan on having 2 events, 3 new lancers, a new map, a bunch of new skins, and something called "trust wars". All in all it looks quite interesting, I especially can't wait to see what trust wars is. I'm imagining something along the lines of faction PvP matches but I could be totally off the mark there.

Mistakes were made for sure, but AA did come a LONG way.

Look at how Atlas Reactor is monetized - no nickle and diming, heck free mode cash shop is completely disabled, so free players can't even spend ANY money in the cash shop at all.

I mean I know that word greed gets thrown around easily when it comes to game dev studios, but AR is monetized right.

C'mon we all know the game is designed with the idea to become f2p when population drop below certain point (like a lot new b2p multi-players). The no-shop limitation is there for more efficient monetization - i.e. get 20€ from the impatient ones. Not that it's evil, but that's not eather some kind of charity or "do good for players".

Hated it, tutorial was slow and painful, and hated the gameplay as well. Guess I'm not into turn based. Uninstalled after 10 mins trying
