Is there a stream that shows when the game will release? Because estimated release date of late 2016 3 months from now while the MMO aspect of the game is still in "Design Phase" seems optimistic unless 2946 is the actual release date?
2946 sounds about right. Be sure to put your ships in a trust fund to be passed down to future generations.

Nothing much for now, just the normal playing the current live version of the game and other bits. Waiting for the 9th for the actual thing.
This one going to be the most interesting for me as to finally show SQ42's mission gameplay.
Wait, didnt they also show things from SQ42 at last years event? You do have to hand it to Chris, all he has to do is show a video a "proposed gameplay" and it rains money for a month. I am honestly a bit jealous.

It was never a proper mission playthrough, it was that walk inside the ship and talk with some characters, no mission actually took place.
So it's interesting to see where it stands today in terms of quality comparing to 1 year ago and finally, see a mission playthrough to check into how SQ42 plays.

That wasn't what they were saying last year. Last year it was 'Star Marine! Out in two weeks!'
Will be interesting to see what does get displayed. Doubt SQ42 will be out in two weeks though.
Cross your fingers that Erin has been able to keep Chris distracted enough with other gee gaws while he worked to finish things up on the single player.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
Oh anyone who backs Kickstarters, buys into Early Access games and such... you'll eventually develop that skill. If not, well then you'd better avoid alphas/betas/pre-orders and buy stuff once released.
So yet another batch of carefully scripted promotional videos to try and pretend the game is actually making progress? I think I'll pass. This is getting to be comical at this point. I'm amazed anyone is dumb enough to fall for this kind of stuff 5 years later. They are already 2 full years past the original release date with no firm timeline for anything that resembles the game they promised. The only good thing is when they finally admit what a total failure this is, then it should make people think before they start throwing money and these crowdfunded projects. Crowdfunding just doesn't work for MMORPG's.
@MaxBeacon: You are not helping SC in any way pretending that everything is always ok. It is called short-sighted. If something is to good to be true then it probably is.
Making
jokes about SC (or any other game) has reasons because people are
getting sick of the business tricks that companies are pulling. (Early
access, preorder that are digital these days, free2play which is more
expensive then traditional gaming, selling ships, fake reviews, flatout
lying to their customers, day 1 dlc's, exploiting younger generations who are not
always aware of this yet or know no better because they grew up with the
nonsense, etc.)
All these things are not helping a business for the long and healthy run.
For me SC is a prime example how not to make a game because it is all about the money and not the game. I am not gonna play a game where people owns whole armada's of ships for thousands of dollars. I am not crazy!
We are always in a race what our intelligence can do for us and what our intelligence does to us.
So the not short sighted version is agree that what CIG is doing is pretending they are developing a game, to go to Citizencon and show videos to pretend the game is progressing? That's where the logical view stands?
The prime example? Now that's short-sighted! About the money not the game... so that's why the money is put back on the game, because it's not about the gam... w..wa..wait a minute!!
You don't have to play the game, you aren't being forced to do so; if you're not okay with the ship pledges model SC follows, then is as easy as not play SC.
I showed a friend of mine a SC video presentation (because the game looks good in theory) and he says;
"Are they f#%ing cheering at a door opening?"
I found that hilarious.
I'm sure I'll be told I'm wrong, maybe even with some examples, but the whole vibe I've gotten over the last year or so of announcements and reveals is that they aren't really aiming to grow their market so much as continue to pull from their existing flock. Many of them come across more like pep rallies for the troops than they do announcements for the general public. That's just my feel though.
These threads never fail to deliver a little of this:
and a little of this:
What I was hoping for is some Squadron 42 info.
That will never change. Game could release tomorrow, bug free. People would still be trash talking it. That is just the way the gaming industry and gaming communities are now. Not that it is always a bad thing. Gives me plenty of entertainment, reading the silly things people keep posting.

Why anyone would get up and say anything, in the face of being more than 2 years past delivery date, many missing features, and other blown project deadlines is beyond me.
We choose to support Star Citizen and do the other things, not because it is easy, but because it is hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept.
Pretending the game is making progress? That's what over 300 employees do every day? Pretend they develop a game?
I like how you say that as if it's impossible that 300 people can go to work every day and produce nothing. It happens all the time. Plenty of games wasted nearly a decade and almost as much as SC has. Tabula Rasa, Vanguard, Firefall just to name a couple of massive expensive failures. Wasting time and money is a very popular goal of MMO development. At some point they realize they can't deliver, then they just go into stalling mode until the house of cards falls apart. The only difference is that SC is doing it with your money and not investor capital. As long as your are ok with funding Chris Roberts retirement fund then so be it. I think some people were actually expecting the game that was promised in some reasonable time frame though.

Well I think SC is more like Apollo 13 than Apollo 11. It might end up being considered a success by some just because no one was killed, but it will fail miserably in accomplishing the original mission is set out for.

I went to the first one... lotta fun.

Given when they've promised it in the past, you probably have skill levels in waiting. At this point....
