Can't help but laugh at the up to our standards comment.
LOL anyone who has played a funcom game at release know there is no company with lower standards of a buggy release then Funcom. To this day I have only played 1 other MMO that I felt the game company could rival Funcom in their total lake of testing and bug fixing. That is Zenimax.
Good luck to any sucker that falls for another of Funcoms great pitches. I for one know it will be a big swing and miss.
When can the loyal subscribers of Age of Conan expect to receive some extremely overdue game updates? Since Funcom is now working on a new, completely separate, Conan title, then does that mean that AoC is on life support? There are bugs which have been with the game for nearly a decade. The classes haven't been revamped since the third year and many of them are in need of serious tweaks.
There's a huge disparity between a brand new level 80 and a fully AA'd 80, especially in classes that are effectively useless without their primary AA ability like Dark Templars and Void of Madness or HoX and Red Shadows of Xotli. When is this disparity going to be removed? There's not many players left, so hitting 80 and finding out you can't raid because you need to spend another month earning VoM on your DT will make some players leave... critical players that the game needs right now. Well, unless you're shit-canning it for Exiles.
T4 raiding was nerfed, which was great as it was a bit too difficult considering that the player base is pretty small. However, that left K6 raids swinging in the wind. I used to log on and find hours of enjoyment doing K6 runs on different characters, but now that scene is dead. Can we expect a decrease in difficulty level of K6 raids so that they're a viable pre-cursor to T4? Especially Jade Dugout, all of the Kara Korum raids, Pillars and Coppice.
Where is the crafting revamp? Craig made it the cornerstone of his developer tenure and over time it has been quietly dropped... along with the monthly newsletters, so we get no news at all now. Is this coming at all or is it cancelled?
But heh... at least they aren't crowdfunding right

"JB: You will be able to play locally (essentially single player)"
just made my day I wanted to give it a try anyways, but with this option, it's even better.
Crafting part was kinda odd, so basically they ditched AoC's crafting revamp after 3 years in works, just to put those ideas into Exiles? Sure, this way they can charge for it as a new game, and not giving it as a free revamp, but still... not nice.
"An example would be that people who worship Set will be able to craft snake arrows (as seen in the Schwarzenegger movie)" lol, that was just a movie, very loosely based on Howard... to a Set follower snakes are sacred. Like saying: as a hindu you will be able to catapult cows into the forts, just like the frenchies did at King Arthur in the Holy Grail movie
That was officially cancelled, they said it in a dev letter (back when there still were dev letters.... )
JB: You will be able to play locally (essentially single player), host a server (on your PC), set up your own private servers or connect to some official public servers. There will be a myriad of options available to configure the servers like increased XP gain, reduced monster damage etc. PvP, PvE and so forth are also configured on the servers."
This is the future of online games. Paying for a product, then spending a lot more money in the long run just to see the servers eventually die while leaving you out in the cold, is a ridiculous and old/outdated idea. Being able to host your own game sessions (just like in the old LAN days) should make a full return and blend with more mmo-ish games. By today standards, non massive online games are considered mmos anyway due to server capacity, not because x number of people show up on your screen.
Good luck to Funcom, i'm looking forward to this game. Hopefully this will be successful.
It isn't disloyal to phase out a game, however Loyalty to the fans would be to straight up say it.

The Ultimate Breakdown
This game will release with game-breaking bugs
It will be under-marketed
People will look back and say,"Wow, they had some innovative ideas. Too bad they just couldn't put them into action.
It will be put on semi-life-support to die a slow painful death like Conan and TSW but not before a variety of interesting and often bondage-themed outfits are available for purchase in the cash shop.
