3. Is it a good solo game or is it best to join a guild
4. What does grinding mean?
5. Is there other things to do besides killing monsters and looking for gold

2: Best class? Every class in WoW is fairly easy, and as such, every class is good to begin with.
3: You can easily solo all the way to level 60, you do not need a guild. It's recommended with a guild tho'.
4: Grinding is often refered to as the act of doing the same thing over and over.
5: Not much. WoW is based around killing monsters, getting items, gettings levels. Endgame includes: Doing 5 man instances for items, doing 10 man instances for items, doing 20 man instances for items, doing 40 man instances for items, grind 'honor' in battlegrounds(This is PvP. Thougth WoW is more suited as an PvE game, than PvP), and grinding rep. for different factions so you can get better items(This includes: Killing mobs, gathering drops from mobs, doing quests, doing repeatable quests, like: Turn in X amount of Iron and X amount of Scales).
Welcome RebelRob.
1) There is no best race, and i would say that all races are equal when it comes to learning the game. Most new people seem to gravitate towards the alliance side, but im not positive why. I personally think the horde are more fun, but its a matter of personal preference.
2)Again, no best class. But, most newer people start off with warriors because they are pretty black and white to play. Shamans on the horde, or paladins on the alliance are also good choices since you can do a little of everything.
3) Both. You can choose to solo your way to 60, or you can group the whole way through. Either way though, joining a guild is a good idea since it gives you a group of people to learn from and help with some of the harder elite quests. Even though you can solo to 60, i recommend you group as much as possible, because learning to play your part in a group is an important aspect of raiding and will become very important at the highest lvls.
4) Grinding can mean many things, but basically it means doing the same repetitive task over and over again. Such as, killing a certain type of monster for xp, or questing over and over again for xp, or killing for faction, or the list goes on and on. It is a mainstay of the online rpg. Some people accept it, some people hate it.
5)There is a large crafting system, and there is a PvP system. Other than that, WoW is basically a hack and slash game, and most of what you do will center around killing something. Making friends alleviates alot of this since hanging out with friends is something you might spend alot of time doing.
*looks like someone answered all your questions just before i did :P At least we agree on pretty much all the answers*
well...these people said it all...
when you start the game, there are several servers out there that besides their classification about the population they are hosting are listed as Normal Servers, RPG Servers, PVPRPG servers and PVP servers. if you want to enter an RPG server please choose an original nick. its very stupid to enter a rpg server with a nick like "ikillorcs" or "mynameisbondjamesbond"...:)
Glad to hear that another has fallen to the power of mmorgps
And since you're new to the genre WoW will be a great choice. If you fall in love with the genre you can always move onto other more complex games afterwards
one reply is enough you are posting 3's..

what are you guys doing here? stop on the fence!!
just tell what you like and how you are playing now!
i like trolls which is best for me.
1. For Horde, Tauren or Undead. For Alliance, Night Elf. Choose Horde if you want to PvP, Alliance if you want to lose at PvP
2. For Horde, you can't go wrong with shaman. For the Alliance, grab a hunter. All classes are easy to learn, hard to master, and fun to play.
3. There is a large solo game with lots of group elements. You don't really "need" a guild until 60, but having one is always good. On a PvP server, you probably need a guild as soon as possible.
4. Doing the same boring action over and over again in order to advance. Grinding is a fact of life in any MMO.
5. In truth? No. But like all things in life, it's the execution that matters. WoW executes this basic concept wonderfully.

1. What is the best race to start out with
"There is no such thing as a best class"
2. Best class to start out with
"a new player would be easy off with "paladin" for one
reason.. its easy pve, u can heal urself, deal decent dmg, bubble and
hearth if ur in trouble, u can learne about the game easyly with pally and when u get better either re roll or continue"
3. Is it a good solo game or is it best to join a guild
"guild"
4. What does grinding mean?
"farming, if u dont know that it means killing monsters over and over for xp + items"
5. Is there other things to do besides killing monsters and looking for gold
"merchanting (buying and selling stuff for more expensive) + proffessions"
ill give u a good hint before u start playing mate.. play watever class at the start and if ur not enjoying it, simply re-roll! every single person has a race/class that suites there personallity! i really dont like pve tanking even though i got a 60 warrior so i re rolled a few others.. i really like hunters + rogues, idiot me i should have tried all classes before starting
Allso before you join WoW.. i would highly advise in joining one of the fresh new servers so you could get an equal footing to the game.
