For the second year in a row, Funcom has a spookilicious Halloween game to share with the world. Last year, the company debuted The Park and is following up this year with a competitive 1v1 game called Hide & Shriek. The objective is to spend ten minutes literally scaring the opponent to death.

I'd play this with my sister but I value my eardrums too much for that. She's AWFUL for spooks, good lord.

I'm a bit disappointed, since I look at it from TSW's perspective   Park was great, added to the lore (and even had a "conclusion" in TSW next Halloween), not to mention I like "walking sims".

Traps and spooks and strategy is fine, I've played the whole series of Neighbours from Hell... so in a similar form I'd jump onto this one too. Too bad that's not the case... it's online, it's pvp, and it's mostly unrelated to TSW (except that one Anansi logo). Heck, I'd give it a try even against those, just for the kicks - but it's also steamy-only, so nope.

I understand that they want to practice their netcode, and that's fine. Just hope this time there won't be TSW goodies attached, some already yelling p2w due to the Woodcutter talismans from the Park...

edit: well, no "power" goodies, just cosmetic ones.

During the TSW stream yesterday they've told some infos about this. First, as it was asked a lot: no, there won't be a gear piece in H&S. They've learned their lesson with the Park   so, while they like to make connection between the two games, and reward players who buy the other game, they won't put a powerful item in it this time.
However, there will be cosmetics, and it will be a two-way street, owner of both games will get HS-themed cosmetic(s?) in TSW, and also extra cosmetic(s?) in HS as well.

A few questions based on the colour and font type of Hide: no, Shriek is just a pun on seek, so Shrek won't be in the game   but they said there will be "special" guests (I assume they mean the election ones mentioned on the homepage?)

Tilty said kudos for Onevia and Vomher, and the community as a whole too, for their mindset of puzzle-solving (he started to tweet pics of the title, and those two solved it after the 3rd pic https://forums.thesecretworld.com/showthread.php?97580-A-(halloween-)-tiltease-on-the-twitter-!/page2 )
HS is set years before the events in TSW, that's why only loosely tied to the game, there may be characters from TSW there, in their younger times, or may not (this part was fairly vague)
There will be ties and references to TSW, some stuff in HS is written by Josh (the previous lead writer of TSW)

Gameplay is unique, not exactly what one could anticipate from the term "1v1". It isn't really pvp and competition, more like around the fun. (whatever that means  )  They promised they will show the gameplay in the next stream.

Well, while there's a maintenance in TSW, they just dropped a tweet about the preorder and a video (https://youtu.be/OzE6kD_4lFs )
Still don't think it's my kind of a game, and it's steam-only apparently... but on the other hand quite cheap, and arrives next week. Maybe if the cosmetics are nice, I'll just drop the buck o' five

Back in the day, I fondly remember having a lot of fun playing Spy vs Spy.  It was 2 player split screen (which kind of allowed you to cheat), but you placed traps to try and kill your opponent.
For under $5, I think I'm going to get this!  That I'm also a fan of TSW is just a bonus.
