Really? I find it greatly improves the game. But it's not the expansion that was released, just the pre-patch (a la WoW).

Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

Devs still couldn't get rid off the feeling how this 0.85 version is just a placeholder till 1.00 will be ready 1 year later.

    Thank you for your time!

Really? I find it greatly improves the game. But it's not the expansion that was released, just the pre-patch (a la WoW).

Well, all of the major changes, the new class and the new content safe for the fish avatar battle was released with the prepatch and today's patch changes nothing really and people who have been keeping up to what is happening with the russian version knew that was the case. Today's is a release in name only - the prepatch was the expansion.

I can see that the changes might seem like an improvement for someone who has not played the game for a long time and did not enjoy the atlas system but the game is really worse in comparison to the previous version of the game.

First and foremost - the character customization is gone and so are half the skills. You can no longer choose what stats you increase or what skills you use. As a result the game feels a lot more shallow. Some people say that you could screw up your build before but that is not really the case as every single point to any stat made you stronger and most of the stats you got were from equipment.

The combat speed is actually lower than it previously was due to high-health low-damage situation for both the mobs and the player. This leads to long, drawn-out fights without any challenge. The promised focus on skillful gameplay with being able to dodge any attack is nowhere to be seen and combined with the longer non-challenging battles the game feels a lot more like a tab-targetting MMO than an action one.

The grind required to unlock anything meaningful is increased and time gated like a mobile game. Yes, you had currency limits before but they added up if you were away from the game for some time and afterwards you could catch up - this is not the case now as the quests that are required to progress stack up to only 7 which means that any break from the game for more than a week is detrimental to the character progress.

Another annoying thing is that you must do a particular content to complete these quests. Previously you had to get a certain type of resource to progress but that resource could be obtained from a variety of places and there was a large variety of missions where you could choose what reward you get and even if you wanted to play content that was not one of those missions but disliked the reward there was an item you could get to change the reward you get from that content. If you disliked a certain adventure you could always avoid it and go for something else and you did not have to participate in PvP or PvE if you did not want to.

There is more content that was removed from the game than added. I do not doubt that they will reintroduce the content again later but having 2 invasions active at a time provided more variety in what you could do in the game. The current long invasion with not being able to get the best gear until an arbitrary week of the invasion from content that is readily available otherwise is another annoying time-gate more suitable for mobile and browser based games than for an MMO.

    lol abahnur.

With the way the game is structured now, you may have Berserker and some other classes you didn't expect. At the worst you'll be a minimal amount of grind from gaining Beserker if it's a classes you really wish to play.

I do agree with a comment made in another thread that it is in the range of the worst change to an MMO I've seen in years. The one where SOE entirely changed SWG from the pre-CU/ CU version to _ugh_ NGE. Though they did eventually bring it back to being an enjoyable game after several years of updates.

So don't lose hope! Skyforge may eventually accomplish the same. :)

P.S I'll even offer some incentive to you. I've an old pre-Ascension code that gives you 30 days prem time and a few gifts along with it. If you've not used one before on your account message me here at the boards. I got it from Alienware Arena or maybe MMORPG I forget.
