Star Wars: The Old Republic gets its 4th expansion this December with Knights of the Eternal Throne. The expansion will continue the story of the current expansion, Knights of the Fallen Empire, bump the level cap up to 70, and more. Any new expansion is a great time to come back to your favorite MMO, but we think Eternal Throne makes a particularly good case for a return to Star Wars: The Old Republic.

    Great time?

The new chapters will probably be worth a play through.  Once.  That'll take you maybe an afternoon if you take your time.

Dem gear changes doe... The summer event, DvL, was all about regrinding new characters through the old content.  5.0... Austin decided they wanted to be a Korean grinder now.  And beyond whatever the Uprisings 4-man content is there's nothing new to chase.

Everything you do gets you points.  Harder content gets you more but you still accumulate points as long as you complete it.  Probably more efficient to run the easier content which has a better success rate and can be ripped through faster.  So unless the easy stuff bores you... why bother?

Oooh, yah, one last thing.  If you're not a sub, GTFO.  Austin doesn't want you crapping up their servers... or making the queues pop.

Just when I think I've purged myself of all expectations they go and prove me wrong, lol.

Didn't these lists usually to be in groups of 5? That this is only 3 is a bit telling...

You get the entire story of all 8 classes up to level 50 for free.  How much more do you want?  If the price of a sit-down lunch is too much to ask for 30 days of access to all content plus 500 cartel coins, then maybe your expectations are too high...

I understand if you dont like the game, there are plenty of games I dont like.  But complaining about a free to play model that gives you so much is just silly.

RNG ugh!  I saw an article on the SWTOR reddit that said we'll need somewhere around 91 boxes to get a full set of gear.  That's 91 max levels to re-grind just for a set of gear.  That was run on a simulator 1million times.  His highest attempt was 400 boxes.  Ugh.  To each their own, but imo the RNG aspect sucks.

RNG or cash shop.  Pick one.

How about another option?  I've always played this game with a Sub.  Keep the cash shop for buying extra cosmetic items or mounts, etc.  How about I continue to pay a sub to get access to all content and can use an in game vendor to buy the gear I want after I earn the currency?  They've had these in game vendors in the game for a few years now.  I've yet to see a good reason for changing the system to RNG.

P.S. - I think charging only the $15.00 dollar sub is a missed opportunity for Bioware.  Blizzard charges something like $50-$60 dollars for their expansion.  Most people play for awhile and then leave.  Point is they get the sub amount AND the expansion amount.  It seems like Bioware is missing this possible revenue stream.

imo preffered accounts should still be able to gain GXP at a much reduced rate. Max 50% and probably more like 25% rate.

I just dont think it's a good idea to take away all incentives to run any type of content at level 70 for preffered accounts.

I enjoyed the story the first three times I did it. After that it was boredom.

If someone makes a game and doesn't let the player base Play For Free (P4F), then why even make a game?

F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing.
    Even telemarketers wouldn't think that.
It costs money to play.  Therefore P2W.

Those who have a sub, get a cash shop allowance. They can buy the gear, over time or spend real money transaction (RMT), from the cash shop. The RNG is only for those who don't have a sub. Playing For Free (P4F) is about filling up the world and making it look lived in, filling up the empty space in a sub player's pug, again, again, and again.

How much did Bioware pay for this commercial?
  • sui2ksui2k Member UncommonPosts: 30
Why Bioware? it's EA , and they don't care about the costs if it gives them a boost of 30% more subs for a couple of months (like the last expansion).

The original game was one of the best ever and for my taste, incredible CLASS stories. Later every expansions took something away. Now for the first time I do not even bother to try. Guess when after six or 12 months I will need break from Wow, Teso, Rift, .. I might return to try. But with CLASS(!) stories - which made game uniquely fun - gone I'm less and less attracted to return. Guess this could be first expansion I will skip altogether. Give me back ORIGINAL release QUALITY and QUANTITY and I would gladly return as subscriber.

Is it just me or does it seem like Bioware just somehow took the plot of "Stranger Things" ?
