Mobile overtakes PC and console gains grown on PC

Furh79Furh79 Member UncommonPosts: 185
Now there is a poster here who like to brag about how PC sales beat mobile and console. He uses this link for his reference.

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2016/01/dont-look-now-but-the-pc-is-the-worlds-biggest-gaming-platform/

A new projection shows in 2016 mobile games will overtake PC gaming and Console gaming will gain ground on PC gaming.  Both mobile and console gaming will increase their revenue as PC gaming decreases their revenue.  Is this a sign of things to come?

Not sure you read the article correctly. It stated PC growth continues strongly, but the other two platforms are growing more.

Which just means the outlook for gaming is great overall really.

Besides, the PC will continue to have an edge in hardware performance, but only if Devs choose to code their games to take advantage of it vs homeginizing everything to work across multiple platforms.

The other interesting thing in the article is the short and long term outlooks for VR and AR, but I'll leave that for @SEANMCAD to bring up.

    Console-25B

The article I posted with projections

Mobile is only that giant due to 99% of the games being pay to win, and they have TONS of whales willing to pay to beat other people. Plus it's so easy for anybody including non gamers to just download and play whatever the hell. It doesn't matter at all what the market is saying is making the most money when one of them is blatantly worse in terms of quality but has access to everybody in the world who owns a phone.

    So untrue.

Please explain to me how the following games are "pay to win":

    Vendetta Online
    Desert Golfing
    Minecraft

Failing that, you shouldn't have a problem naming 297 other mobile titles right now that *are* "pay to win" as "99%" of mobile games are so.

Furthermore, please explain why the above three titles are "blatantly worse" than games like "Ride to Hell" or even "Over The Road Trucking", both PC games that are in the running for worst video games of all time. Better yet, please explain why Ars Technica, the publication cited by OP, includes mobile games in its "best games of the year" list every year.

Otherwise, I'll have to assume you are trolling.

Howz about we wait until the data comes in for 2016 before stating its a fact?

I never said it was fact I used PROJECTION when I referenced the article and numbers.

So does that mean you are taking down your post that  projects VR sales in TEN YEARS?  Or do projections only work when it's something you can push?

PC Decrease?  Perhaps between the two reports which probably can't be compared, I went more by the text in the article

    Guys take note!

This guy is crying about a projection that is projecting 4 months out based on the current year figures.  But in his own thread he is perfectly fine stickingwith, defending and holding on to it like fact a projection that is projecting something he likes 10 years out...

Dude, Steam, that's all anyone has to say for an argument. Game over man, game over.  Plus CNBC doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground, corporate media shills.

You are joking right?  What about steam?  It's free there are almost 100 MILLION users paying for xb live and PS4.

So are you pc elitist shill or a steam shill? Because Steam doesn't release financial information so I'm not sure how "Dude, Steam, that's all anyone has to say for an argument " when you have zero facts to back it up?

Well for me the main reason just in case mobile game beat PC and Console is that you can bring your mobile device anywhere you want. If you're stuck in traffic or simply killing your time in a lobby waiting for someone. Also, if you're not satisfied with the screen you can always use emulator so you can play it on PC. For example, with the game that I'm playing right now Global MU Origin, I can play it on PC using NOX or outside by using mobile internet. But of course there are some limitations like the number of skills you can use the quality of graphics etc. this makes PC gaming still at top notch.

If one thing is growing annually at (32 X 2%) and the other thing is growing at (25 + 4%) percent and assuming that this will continue forever, how long will it take the smaller number to equal the larger number?

    again

first article is ACTUAL article being discussed is PREDICTION.

Its fine to say 'that mobile games might beat...' but its showing a ridiculously large level of bias to suggest 'it is' to take a statement of 'PREDICTION' as if its already true and as such contradicts the ACTUAL.

With how well the Xbox one s is selling and the new PS4 coming out plus all the good games coming out on the consoles it appears that 4% is a low estimate.

Look at AMD their 3rd quarter beat expectations because of Consoles.

Bias?  Coming from a guy who is crying about a projection that uses current figures and projecting 4 months out but in his own thread is defending a TEN YEAR PROJECTION on another subject like it's life or death...yeah there is bias alright and I think you have enough of it for this entire site.

White knighting a TEN YEAR PROJECTION and crying non stop about a 4 month projection based on current figures is just down right ignorant...but based on a conversation in your white knight TEN YEAR PROJECTION thread that is common knowledge about you around here.
