During BlizzCon 2016, it was revealed that the Necromancer hero class would be making his triumphant return to Diablo 3 in a forthcoming Character Pack (not an expansion) in 2017. Lucky for us, the male Necro was playable at the show, and we played through the 15 minute or so demo and took some of the class’ old skill made anew for a spin.

EDIT: Nevermind, apparently it's a patch. Any idea when it's dropping?
Hmm Blizzard doesn't listen their fans but Anet do? Cool story dude. It made me laugh quite a bit.

PoE is the better product, damn near objectively, at this point.

They can make millions from a new expansion. But after RoS they're still refusing to make a new expansion. Even after the huge disappointment with the Vanilla Diablo 3 they sold millions of copies with RoS. I think they are not that stupid. In 2 years we only get free updates and what? A single class pack. Blizzard loves money. And Diablo franchise is not a small think to throw away.
Yeah, was there any word on when this becomes available? And what's this I hear about it costing money? Is that true? I don't mind paying, just curious...
It'll cost money, have more features that haven't been announced yet, and "2017" - my guess is February-ish.

Thank you Bill! I'm hyped!
If you didn't play D3 since before RoS then I am 90% sure you will enjoy it for at least few months! I say .. give it a try!
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy?
Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
take my money
So static environments, bad graphics, gender-locked classes, unresponsive combat, needlessly convoluted character advancement, a color palette featuring mostly shades of brown (because brown is GRITTY, right?) and a horrible currency system make for a better product? Well, have fun with that then. I'll be over here playing games (D3, Grim Dawn) made by competent dev teams that know what they're doing.
Necromancer will be awesome, but I was really hoping for the druid or another shape-changer class. D1 remade in the D3 engine has me pretty excited. Should be a nice shot of nostalgia.
AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

there are 4 melee classes and all significantly different, there are plenty of options to go around for Necro/Witch
its this bizarre and complicated concept that the fans are customers and that you should build products and try to fulfill the wants of the people who buy your products....wait is a simple concept, however it is allowed to be ignored in game development because of asshats and kids proliferate the market who has no self control and who crap out money at any lousy product because they are starved for some decent entertainment.
the ironic part is I am sure you complain about every other type of company in the world but give these a pass. You can have passion but still create something your customers want, some day you will have a spine and be able to resist buying subpar retreads that result in you hoping games every other week.
YOu had a very nice critique of PoE then you lose credibility when you pretended Grim dawn doesnt suffer from the same issues.
I completely agree. If it's not Diablo 4, let's hope it's World of Diablo ;-) .
On a side note. I spent a lot more time in Diablo 1 then 2 personally. To me as a kid this was an awesome online experience. It made me appreciate the potential of online gaming. I also credit it to motivating me to give other online games a go like DAoC and UO and FF11.
