Few RPGs have ever made me really think about the consequences of my actions. The last time it happened was in the Witcher 3. Obsidian’s and Paradox’s Tyranny is right up there with last year’s multi-award winning Game of the Year. If you prefer your RPGs a little more isometric and your combat more party-oriented and strategic, well then Tyranny may just be one of the best RPGs in recent memory.

What about replay ability, does the story move and change enough to where it would be worth it to run through it a second or third time with a different type of main character?

Yes, definitely. I haven't done playthrough 2 yet, but I can speak to the many choices and effects of your decisions.

I got Skyrim SE, World of Final Fantasy (don't let the childish look scare you off) and now Tyranny to get me through the week.
I have to wait 10 minutes more to find out how correct your review is.

It appears that it does certain things i really don't like and that is EASY ,like VERY easy game play that pretty much stares you right in the face.
Scroll "might need that",well yeah since it is the only thing in the picture and glowing right in front of your eyes ...doh.It is like games that put a lever right in front of your path...geee i wonder ,am i suppose to pull that lever?
Second keen eye spot, gee there are npcs over there, hmmm my path is blocked, gee i wonder,am i suppose to get through that wall or just exit the game with no idea what to do?
Could the combat and AI actually be good, who knows ,i need to see an actual video to determine if i like it,mere words don't mean squat to me.Combat and AI ,well and the entire design are very important parts of a game for me,if done really well,i can overlook the obvious hand holding part of the design because to be honest,MOST games have way too much hand holding, seems i can't escape it anywhere.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I was happy to see this. I don't much care about gameplay when I play RPGs. Well, as long as it's decent. Mostly. OK, hard to put into words. Let's just say I would laugh at Tyranny - Platform Gamer Edition. CRPG, JRPG, Turn-based, action, whatever. They're all fine, IFF they provide a good story. I'm old, and like to sit back on a night off and enjoy a well told story rather than beat up bad guys. Pillars of Eternity left me a bit wanting in that department. It felt bloated, and I felt like I was still reading the prelude 20 hours into it. I'm very glad to hear you say that Tyranny does a better job of cutting to the meat. I'll certainly be giving this game a shot.
Besides if one likes something they tend to find arguments which align with such decision Tthe opposite applies as well I guess.
LMAO , now thats funny , you should put that in your Sig Wizardry

Combat is abysmal, it's like there's a 3-4 second delay between every attack. It feels more like playing a novel than a game, it felt like 80% of the time I was reading text and the remaining 20% was lackadaisical gameplay, maybe that's just the beginning but I lost interest. I honestly had more fun doing the conquest than actually playing the game.
Maybe i'm being too harsh and it's actually really good and I should stick it out, i'm just not sure I have the drive. I'm glad some of you are enjoying it though.
