That could have been a nice housing ornament, or even a backpack skin. I'm not sure i want to face Jormag with that shield.
EDIT: just to clarify people complaining about art direction, the art direction in GW2 is some of the best in mmos. The decision of making this design into a weapon is what's f**ed up. Maybe i need to learn what art direction is.
A glass shield does not seem optimal to me either, it is like adding those silly 70s shoes with goldfish in for an armor.
I don't really mind that they have a few silly weapon though but there are a few weapons with no good legendary skins, like pistol. We could at least get 2 serious skins for each weapon before we get silly ones.

Agreed, I haven't played since not too long after HoT launched really, but I have Quip, and it's really a ridiculous weapon. When I saw the new pistol skin I was like... I guess I'll stick with quip for now. But .. then I stopped playing.

At least you don't have the "my little pony" bow... But yeah, my thief uses 2 pistols and 2 daggers, getting incinerator was not a hard choice there.
90% of my PvP kills is with the daggers since they nerfed dual pistols (not complaining about that, when I often could solo 3 guys with them without too much trouble something was seriously wrong, with the daggers I have to work if I fight more then one opponent) so I guess I was lucky .

I only have Kraitkin so far but I'm 90% done working on Incinerator now. Quip is definately on my interesting weapon list but something tells me I should slowly work towards Nevermore because 3 of my chars are using staff.
I think the reason why people feel going for legendaries is so grindy is that they want it asap once they made up their minds. It is meant to take months if not years though.

Yeah, took me years but I wasn't really working very hard at it, the only problem was really getting the precursor. After flushing down a fortune into the mystic toilet I gave up and sold mats enough to buy it for gold (I still have a rather huge fortune just in mats lying around).
I think it is good that the game have a few long term goals, something to work for. If I felt I had everything I would probably have quit a long time ago.
It is somewhat annoying though that it actually is far easier to just buy the entire thing for gold you farm then to honestly craft it yourself, particularly with the rather lousy pre-cursor collections. The collecting in itself is fine but it uses a fortune in ascended crafting materials which is far more work to gather then the collection in itself.
I can understand people doing it for the new pre's you can't get any other way though.
So: a somewhat easier chance to get the pre's in the Mystic forge and a serious nerf on the ascended mats for the collection and I would be happy (besides a few new actually cool legendary skins for weapons like pistol).

Ha! That's also the same with precursor quests. I like doing these as a challenge and to finish collections. However.. rather unpopular precursors like The Bard require so much wood to craft that it's way cheaper to just buy the precursor from the TP. I feel it's weird that they punish us for doing the "quests" they created.
It was at this moment my internal "F$%K ArenaNet" clock started counting down.
Well it is meant as one of the non-serious weapons. The quest to earn the precursor nowadays contains tasks such as:
-tossing harpy pheromones at Mai Trinn and various other bosses so they will fall in love with you -mocking the minstrel in his misery (oooh that sounded nice) -laughing at the good natured giant when the bullies kick him out of his cave -barfing into the mystic forge after eating too much candy as special delivery for Zomorros
and can anyone explain the shortbow pony legendary (Dreamer)? Being a condi ranger, I quit working towards it when I realized thats what I was working for...
Edit: Sadly, this was the 1st shortbow legendary (and they finally came out with a second after the expansion) . But you cant say every weapon already has 2 serious legendaries, because they dont.

The first weapon stands for love so you have to discover different facets of love. From classic romantic love by delivering a black pearl to Peneloopee from season 1 to find out she is now married with kids over to love for freedom by freeing slaves, love for money and even as abstract things as love for gardening.
The second weapon stands for the hunt. I actually finished the first tier of this and had fun doing so. It is a very linear old school questline where you have to track down 2 legendary tigers who are causing trouble on their prowl.
Note: I only described the first tier here. The 2nd tier is always about gathering a lot of materials to craft an actual weapon. Step 3 will always be a scavenger hunt again and new weapons like the second bow will even require a step 4.

Hope is meant to be a good legendary pistol. It's not my cup of tea but it isn't bad either.
As for silly weapons, I find them okay, if slightly annoying. As long as they never make another obnoxious auto-attack sound effect (I'm looking at you, The Dreamer) it's just a minor blemish on an otherwise fantastic art style.

I hate the pop gun and horn noises for Quip, I guess it would be okay if I wanted to RP the Joker.

The slingshot and pop gun weapons are horrid too. Just really grating to listen to.

Either way it was nice to see the old LA again.
You're explaining this as if I'm supposed to say;
"Oh wow, I didn't know this... Quip was an absolutely incredible choice for the end all be all LEGENDARY weapon."
The lore can kiss my bottom. Quip was a bollocks legendary, the fact that they okayed it into the game without some alternative still boils my blood to this day.
"As far as the forum code of conduct, I would think it's a bit outdated and in need of a refre *CLOSED*"

Considering the other shield is the Flameseeker Prophecy which has All the Lore attached to it and about as serious as can be, having the other shield they're coming out with be a quaggan in a bowl is fine with me. As long as there's an option to have a serious one, what's the problem? New area is great, loving the story. Bugs will get ironed out as usual. Nothing like a new area and new story as free content to make people mad.

Anet has to find a balance there.
