DarkFall: New Dawn News - During a recent stress test event, over eighty Darkfall: New Dawn players entered a village of fire shooting goblins simultaneously. Citing a few minor hiccups that were easily ironed out, the New Dawn team declared the event a success. The event not only tested the simultaneous game play of that number of players but also the spawn scaling mechanic.

80 Players killing 50 mobs is newsworthy? and considered a successful stress test?

I guess my low expectations of these 'official' p.servers are well placed and why there is so many 'free tests' for them in the mmo news.

How these are meant to sustain on a subscription model when they can only pull together 80 people for a public free test is beyond me...

They are having those 80 players on the same spot, the same node in combat and that is very different than lets say 80 players together in World of Warcraft, in DFO you will feel a change of ping very fast, big siege wars were actually pretty impressive to run so smoothly in Darkfall imo.

I am not a fan of what New Dawn is trying to do but Rise of Agon seems to come along just fine and seems to be the more popular option of these 2 but calling this a failure based on this is bs I am not going to be playing any of these servers untill theres a full release and im a big fan of DF1 and cant wait, noone who already played on their "indev version" would bother.

80 people vs 50 mobs eh.. Nothing new by any stretch.. Nothing impressive by todays standard.. Maybe 16 years ago that was impressive.

Then the mobs dropped items and the server crashed.

I was just stating for a game like this its different than your average mmo.

Also what part on the new dawn website or this post are they trying to IMPRESS you,  they are testing their spawn scaler, I know it is standard for most people on this forum to give a negative taste to all their posts, I didnt say I was impressed myself so ur point is uneccesary in any way.

Holy shit by the sound of this, this guy is really cool. Look at how he's able to inform us just how uncool this test was for this game. Man, if it weren't for you, I don't know what I'd think about this!

    Thank you for your service.

It is after all supposed to be a PVP game that has lots of sieges etc. numbers should be in the hundreds, even Planetside 1, which is probably at least 10 years old now, could handle hundreds of players in the same location, fighting, using a wide variety of weapons, 80 is not really a test of the server which is what this was supposed to be about, it would be hoped that the numbers stated were due to limited player involvement rather than server capabilities, because 80 players is a ridiculously small number, it would be hoped that the game could in fact support over 300 players in the same area without becoming unstable. :o

Hilarious that an 80 player stress test is considered a success.

I didn't find anything funny about it.

Modern MMO's. 80 players is a big deal now eh? That's barely more than a BF server from 20 years ago. Now if they stuck a 1 in front of the 80, or better yet a 2, then I'd say they have an MMO.

And people still have the cheek to say the genre is in good shape when this is considered news worthy.

Sorry but the game has been dead since our first run through the original Darkfall. Throw in the towel, the people holding onto this with rose-tinted glasses won't keep the game alive for the 5th time.

BTW anyone else think that video looked like an EDM music fest? I was kinda expecting an appearance from Chainsmokers or David Guetta to drop some beats.

Actually this would be perfect as one of those vids where the guy tries to explain something on the show and he can't stop laughing:

"Ok so we rebranded the game for the third time so the suckers have to buy it yet again. But of course no one else gives a damn so in order to lure in people we announced a stress test. Everyone knows that this can be done by simulations but whatever.
Only 80 people bothered to come and even that was enough to cause some problems.
    *slams table
And here is the best part.. WE TOLD THEM WE FIXED THE BUGS AND THAT THE STRESS TEST WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!"

    *audience goes wild

Funny.. last time I played those games I didn't have to tab target anything. The game realized whether my sword was hitting something or not.

you aren't hitting anything in those games, your mouse is locked in the middle and you target what you mouse over or you perform a standard aoe attack, glad you learned something new.

I mostly learned that people will go quite far to defend this game with the epic 80 people stress test and some fps elements as if that was anything new or innovative in 2016.

i think this game died several years ago if your main objective in this post is bashing, so be it, I'm not defending anything; yet I think you are trying too hard making false statements on a game you clearly don't know.
