Is it because I am getting old or do the tutorials in this game blow chunks?
It seems like I am spending more time on youtube trying to figure out things than I am spending in playing the game.  For example, I got a 'tutorial" quest to buy a house with the refinery option.  I did it, went back and turned it in and then NOTHING!  What the frick was I supposed to do with it?  It would have been nice if the guy you turned that quest into then gave you another quest with instructions on how to use it.

Luckily I am still in the honeymoon phase and learning about things is half the fun but I have never felt so old and out of my element, as I have playing this game.  It seems like every 10 minutes I am alt-tabbing to youtube to figure something out.
Funny enough... usually people on this site complain about TOO MUCH hand holding... xD

BDO does take a lot of figuring out, yep, and has very little in the way of tutorials when it comes to the advanced stuff.

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

I always enjoy a solid learning curve, as long as things make sense.
Having to search stuff on the internet because the devs did a lazy job stringing stuff together is a no go.

I think vanilla WoW had it just right.. so many things to discover back then, but everything was rather encouraging instead of being frustrating like i.e. EVE was for me as a newbie. Everything i did or learned was never enough for anything, as something else was always required or missing. Never been so strung along for nothing like i was in EVE.

Sure, I don't think Youtube was even around BUT.  Everyone used to do it the old fashion way.....

    ASK IN GAME !

MMO's are not mmos anymore.  No social nothing.  The way they are built, people don't even think of asking as an option.......YES, its how they are built not the players !

    Solo crap :(

Do not play this game! They are currently in liquidation and are funneling money out of there customers. See: Daum EU Re-branding too Kakao Games! This Re-branding was a result of a mass-exodus of players and a record number of charge-backs for practices that were considered nefarious. Also Pearl Abyss has already moved on and are working on another game (they are the main distributors of this game and its content). Do not get invested or even try this game, it could have been special but that is no longer possible.

Liquidation? seriously thats a very large accusation, is there any evidence to corroborate this at all?

About 10 years back, one dude from my guild i played often with attacked me while i was on my alt in some random mmo, i asked him wtf you know this is our alt ally guild, and he appologized saying he is old and forgets things sometimes.

He died few months after aging about 60+ from alcheimers if i remmember, i feel bad for the guy, but i had some great and fun time playing with him and others, so he will be remmembered.

Other than that, it is pretty normal to google and youtube stuff, well not for the most basic of stuff, but mmorpg's have become more complex overtime and sharing information is much faster than finding solution yourself.

not saying that the doom post is true or not but their porting all awaken  over to this version 1 a month  that a lot work an cost for a project you're dropping as fast a possible.

also your logic for stay away is very flawed it not p2p it b2p you get lot content to enjoy as your leisure you're not forced to buy anything else  am sure you be bored of the game long before it official dropped.

just check site it's only 9.99 USD for the base game dam that cheap

One could ask in this game but the community is a bit lacking.

I've always gotten accurate information from asking in chat, even made some friends that way. You just disregard the id10ts like any other game.

the two worst tutorials are BDO and EVE, yes we can look everything  up on tube but than you have to transfer that knowledge to the game which is not so easy to do and it kills immersion. I had the same prob as Talonson and also prob figuring out the nodes
Kidz these days. When I first joined EVE back in "07" I printed out about 10 tutorials on everything from mining to piracy and null sec living.

I read them several times over 3 weeks, then signed up for a free trial.

    Preparation, EVE requires it.

If we had tutorials I don't recall even bothering.

    ;)

Actully Eve has now improved their tutorial, while I still think it could improve some more I now take it out of the worst tutorials -however BDO is still bad

    "We don't want handholding"
    "We want tutorials"

=> "We will complain anyway, don't bother"

"We want mmoRPGs to add something different!"
"We please change the new thing and make it like the old thing!"
