Pre-CU things I miss

Apart from the usual things like friends/community/interdependence/population/freedom (the usual gripes):

1.Crafting all my own meds for my combat/doc and enjoying the feeling of self-sufficiency.

2.Watching some beggar getting told to f*** off outside of Bestine sp, wheras some noob who'd shout "can anyone tell me how I craft/use....." would be bombarded with a bunch of advice and free gifts such as speeders, armour, weapons and cash. We all liked to help a keen noob.

3. Studying the combat log to try and figure out why I got owned so badly in pvp, then realising my armour had something like 12/33000 condition left on it.

4. Tooling up for pvp and getting everything just right, buffs, watching my stomach contents, pups etc. Annoying to die quickly in pvp pre-CU but very satisying when you lived and got a few scalps of your own.

5.Playing with a template calculator for hours, dreaming about the possibilties of endless types of builds.

6.Watching general chat in Coronet back in the busy days or just general people-watching.

7. The lag on entering Coronet SP, it was a good type of lag caused by all my pre-CU loving brothers and sisters.

8.Old fashioned grouphunts with camps and ents while we hunted sharnaffs or rancors with very little clue what we were doing

I could keep going all day but please someone else continue...

    I miss:

    1.  The fact that I (a TKM / MCH / novice Ranger) could group my two 35-level pets and droid together to get two 27,000 credit missions at a time on Dantooine all by myself - I'd clip along at earning $700,000 credits per buff (3 hours).  Once money was made, I was free to explore and do whatever with friends.

    2.  Base destroying!

    3.  Decorating my house with all the awsome furnature and loot choices.  Our guild would have weekly "House Decor" contests which I used to win a lot.  Then decorating my other houses as labs and the like for my crafting characters (I had 6 at one time!)

    4.  Using my TKM/MCH character from above to fund my other characters businessess (Tailor / Chef character, Doctor / Merchant character, Architect / Shipwright character, etc.).  Then watching them become self-sufficiant.  Then watching them make money themselves.

    5.  The annoying process of setting up all those darn vendors and then the reward of watching people buy my products or loot.  Dressing the vendors so they were all in "uniforms" and looked like they worked a K-Mart.

    6.  My guild!

    7.  Waiting for the shuttle!  And the conversations I would have with people during that wait...

    8.  Going landmark questing to fill up my rewards page.

    9.  Having the confidence that my TKM (buffed) could go anywhere without fear of being killed (except on Dathomir, of course!)

    10.  (speaking of Dathomir) Losing 7 Swoops in one 2 hour period and having to go on Guild Chat to have somebody in my guild bring me a case of Swoops as I was stranded in the middle of nowhere with those evil witches everywhere.  That was funny!  I miss memories like that when guildies/friends would rush to your aide!  Or I'd rush to a guildie/friends aide!

    11.  Knowing all of your favorite crafters for armor and weapons.  Getting to know these people well enough to special order anything!

    12.  Remembering how terrified I was of Mountain Squills early in the game (remembering the "hunts" that formed on that bridge in that rebel village west of Mos Eisley (can't remember the name of the town)... and then taking out entire Mountain Squill lairs solo when I was mastered...

    13.  Griding Doctor and Chef "day in" and "day out" but finally getting master.  I felt on top of the world!!!

    14.  Logging off each time with my toon sitting on the edge of her bed in her own house.

    edit: typos

I miss Swordsman/Doctor (my original build). That was overall probably the best all purpose tank build...

I miss a triple HAM system where you could target any one of the pools and incap if you drained any of them.

I miss the fun of my Doctor/Dancer, and the HUGE demand her services were in, as she could heal anything and buff anything...

The need to FIGURE STUFF OUT, such as how to do those 2500+ doctor buffs...

Meeting people and making in game friends out of the buff lines.

I miss SWG.  It was part of my life.

I kept at work a list of the resources I had in stock.  Every morning first thing I would do upon arriving at work was logging on to sites like swgcraft.com and swg-resources.com to check what resources have poped up during the evening.  If I found something new, I would spend the rest of the day impatient, waiting to go home so I could find a good spot to place a harvester.  If there wasn't any, I'd go out searching for resources so I could contribute to the site.

Driving around the planets looking for resources was great!  I saw the most beautiful sites the game had to offer.  It was sometimes exciting running into the "local fauna".   I wasn't completely defenseless because I was a Master Swordsman, but nonetheless, most of the stuff would kick my ass so running away was most of the time the best option.

Then going home to craft.  Checking my list to use the best resources.  Checking my e-mail for orders.  A friend bringing me a brand new Geo-Cube, a Kryat tissue or some Gorax shards so I could make him the best weapon possible.  Then putting it all together and praying for a good assembly  and an even better experimentation.

That was my second life!  I loved it!  I miss it!

Hehe, that part made me smile for obvious reasons.

I know what you mean and I miss the game I bought: SWG.

Things from Pre cu I miss...

I miss crafting, not that I was much of a crafter.   I got the 4 engineering trees and made some decent powerups.  But one time I got a wild hair and took the food tree (sorry can't remember now what it was called) and got the Homemaker title.  I was standing in the bank at Tyrena, damn it i miss Tyrena too, and had just gotten the title and my Bro came home from his work, I got off early that day, and logged in and he sends me a tell to see where I was at.  I told him and when he showed up he said, "Oh Hell no.  I am not huntin Imps with a blankety blank Homemaker"  I laughed and changed the title back to gunslinger.  Boy he teased me about that for weeks.

I also miss full cantinas.  I miss getting banged up and being nearly all black in mind and needing that special kind of healing.  Telling bad jokes to the ents was one of my fav past times.  As well as tipping well.  Loved Coronet but Tyrena was home.   I met my friend Shina there.  She had just started dancing and was there trying to get some xp and here I came in with a blown mind and tipped her like 20 large after she was done.  She moved up 2 and a half boxes off me alone that night.  Then  I went out side to train some baby Gilgunaws I had aquired from the same nest.  I miss the twins Olatharis and Kitharis.  She came out and asked what it was I was doing and the rest they say is history.  We became fast friends that night.  I was her unofficial manager after that.  I used to do an Ed Sullivan thing when I would see her stroll in and she would always send me the same tell. "Shut up you fool. It is embarassing.  But I like it."

One of the other things I missed was being a musician as well.   I played the sax instrument.  Got to the novice musician before I decided I wanted not to do that anymore.  Here is a funny story.  I was a dedicated rebel, made Sgt. stopped takin promotions after that cause we all know Sgt.'s are cool.  Anyway back to my lil story.  I was playin the sax in the cantina in Mos Espa when this poor guy comes in adn needs a mind heal bad.  I played my ass off and he proceeds to tell me that he is an Imp.  So I told him i was a reb.  Instead of fighting we talked.  Sone after his wife (real life wife) comes in and needs mind healin too.  We all talked for like an hour .   They both tipped me well and the guy said before leaving, " Most rebs spit on us, but you give me hope that we can all get along here."

During this time my dad came over and saw my  dude playing an instrument.  He being a trombonist in a jazz band watched and got a kick out of the stuff  I was doin.   I told him that he and his band mates ought to do this while performing he laughed and said, " Ha and see a bunch of old farts on a one way trip to the hospital.  I think not."

Mostly I miss SWG, the game I bought and liked to get lost in.

    1. I loved crafting. I had a MDoc, MArchy, MWS, MMerch, MArti. Such fun making stuff for people

    2. I don't know how much stuff I gave away helping newbs trying to get into the game. It was also fun to see them freak out when us Imperials would begin RPing infront of them. Many of them would get so excited!

    3. I never did a whole lot of PvP. I loathed the damn Dot pikes. But I remember getting slaughtered on Endor and I couldn't figure out why until I realised my VK had basically melted. hehe

    4. I got recruited a lot to scout for PvP battles. It was kind of cheating in many ways I suppose but I'd ride around and locate rebs on my swoop and basically direct fire in that direction. There was a few times I would get enabled (usually through my own idiocy, hehe) and get smoked.Keep in mind I was a crafter for most of my life in SWG.

    5. The Buff lines in Coronet used to be fun. As an MDoc not only would I make truckloads of credits but it was just fun to talk with all the people. One thing I always wished though was the game was a little more optimized so it wouldn't lag so much. Oh and that I could shut my stupid R2 droid up.

    6. See above

    7. Those were so fun. I remember my first combat group when I made TKA/Fencer. We did a NS group hunt. I got my ass kicked so much it wasn't even funny but it was a lot of fun.

    Few things I miss specifically.

    8. Standing in my first shop I'd put together greeting customers as they'd come in looking for some item. If I didn't have it I'd always offer to make it either right there or ASAP. If they placed an order for later I'd always throw in something interesting in a backpack. Usually they'd tell me what they were doing (decorating or some weapon) and I could make something for them to put in the order. People really seemed to respond well to having the crafter there in the shop.

    9. Handing out swoops in the newbie places. Mos Eisley usually. Giving out swoops and giving out lower end weapons Kits depending on what they were shooting for.

    10. Endor

    11. Dathomir

    12. RP cities and the events we planned.

    13. Imperial patrols.

EDIT: Using the list function on these new forums is ugly. :(

Im prepared to get flamed for being 1st to say this but i miss "Deverish" going to corrsair canyon for loot and watching for the little spot on my radar coming in my direction fast.

I miss heading upto the Nightsister Labor camp or place of equal distance from starport where i could have fun without making it easy for the persistant BH.

I enjoyed hunting for LS resources knowing every shuttle journey into city could spell my downfall or scouting my friends list to get them find a doc that was online so i could survive that little bit longer

One thing many dont miss that i do as a by-product of what i was is space, i spent alot of my time hiding/fighting up there and didnt find it as much a chore as others seem to!

My alt was BE/Chef i miss that too but will limit what else i miss so others can have the space or i would be here all day

Ah, Tyrena Corbantis.  That was where I started on March '04.  And logged out for the last time, standing in front of Tyrena starport in Scout clothing with a CDEF pistol in my hand.

I loved crafting.  And healing, mind and body.  And hunting, and playing music, and being able to do all of those with one toon and still be (reasonably) combat-effective.  I remember the hair-raising runs to the Village, to dump my crafting and scouting and medical experience to train up those FS branches, trying to become a FS crafter/healer.

    1. Crafting and running my small chain of weapon stores with my crafter.
    2. Hunting with my 2 Greater Sludge Panthers with my combat toon.
    3. Shopping for bargains.
    4. Decorating my house/stores for hours.
    5. The many battles in front of Theed Starport.
    6. Hanging out in the Med Center and chatting with others while getting healed.
    7. Raids on Fort Tusken.
    8. Too many more to list
