I've been playing Warhammer Total War for 400 hours now. Wood Elves are soon. Mods out for it make it even more epic, and unlock and upgrade many factions to be playable and fleshed out.
I can't think of another Warhammer 4x strategy game, that is as epic and huge as Warhammer Total War is. And later DLCS+expansions will add so much, to make it one of the biggest if not biggest Total War game ever made.
Do you guys agree? Are you happy with your purchase of Warhammer Total War? Or have you not bought it yet or is it just not your thing?

And many other people do too. Even lists it on the wiki (which while not always accurate, is in this case)

But really, how can you compare Total War: Warhammer to any other Warhammer game? It's easily the best Fantasy Warhammer game. No contest. The only Games Workshop game that I think is better is Dawn of War, and that's mostly because I really like 40k more than fantasy.
Literally Warhammer Total War is exactly like other Total Wars, no diplomacy or anything, just focused on combat (as all other Total Wars). So it should be in that list.
It just isn't as involved as Civilization, or Europa Universalis or Crusader Kings. Its more a simplified 4x strategy series in general. There is diplomacy, but its so basic its a slap in the face. Always been a huge issue with total war. It IS a 4x, just a very simplified one, only focused on combat. Its still a ton of fun to play though, just not a very advanced game series.
EU4 is far more advanced than Total War will ever be, same with Civilization. But, there isn't a Warhammer like EU4 or a warhammer game like civilization or Crusader kings 2.
