Should I Go All Digital

RainbowDoll59RainbowDoll59 Member UncommonPosts: 11
As much as I like my old game systems and games I'm getting tired of my games taking up so much space in my room.  I have been thinking about selling my older game systems and games and going all digital to save some room in my room. Is this a good idea?

Buying all my lucasarts / Sierra Big Box Pc games in a store was really good times

I wish I still had all my Old PC big box's I used to have Hundreds over the Many years of buying

But alas they all got thrown out as I grew up over the years (Regrets)

What do you mean by all digital?  You still need a game worthy PC, although there are a lot of good gaming laptops out there.  My next rig will be a gaming laptop hooked up to a 4k TV.  As far as software, I download just about everything, and the few games I have left that are on disc I usually end up downloading anyway.  The last time I installed ESO I saw it was a 31GB download.  So I installed from discs and then it downloaded a patch.  a 26GB patch.  Next time I will just do the digital install, it will be about the same amount of time to install and I don't need to swap out discs.

The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!

I have collected many games and game systems over the years myself, but now it's to the point that they seem to be taking up a little too much room in my room, which I could be using for a small graphic design studio (I'm a graphic design student by the way.). I will have to think about this but I really think it's time I go digital

I say yes but don't go throwing out everything, it might be worth something in a few years.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

I think you should consider cleaning your room and getting rid of things you aren't using any more. Going digital is one thing, not being able to let go of useless junk is another thing.

I turned my dvd drive bay into an air intake for my psu. My case is an inWin 904 with the DVD drive below the psu.

Four years ago when I bought my house and moved out of the place I was renting, I finally bit the bullet and decided to dump all the physical game boxes and other junk that I had been holding onto.  Personally, I don't regret it a bit.  I took all of the discs that I might want later and put them in a binder and I emailed all of the DRM codes to myself.  So if I ever want to install, for instance, Sins of a Solar Empire or Red Alert one day, then I can still do it without taking up half my man cave.

lack of space will never be a good reason for me to give up on physical games. But that's just me. I only buy digitally mmos and online only games because they become obsolete when they stop getting support and die. I also don't mind buying digitally other multiplayer games like Battlefield/Cod when they get cheaper. For me personally, if its Japanese, RPG, or any single player story driven game i will buy them physically and will never get rid of them.

Also, just a personal opinion of mine, if you are going to buy digital games don't pay full price. Wait for a discount. A download isn't worth the same as physical product.

My 2 cents, if i were you i would try to accommodate my games and keep buying more discs/cartridges.

Well "worth" is no longer what it used to be.
Now a digital form can be more valuable than a physical form because when you wait and get a digital bargain,it often comes with extras. As well a digital form is ALWAYS in 100% excellent condition because they utilize cloud gaming.A physical copy if you are lazy and don't make copies can wear out or get scratched etc etc.
The BAD with digital gaming is you become a slave to that business, example Steam.Steam treats it's customers like garbage, need support ...TOO BAD,go to the developer not us,we only want your money ,we don't want to help you any further.
