My favorite mmo was Shadowbane. I like pvp loot. If you didn't play Shadowbane or Risk Your Life 1, you don´t have any idea about world PVP.
there just is too much of it I think. Not discounting pvp or those who like it, its just down right silly that every game that has sanboxish features has to be a pvp game.
that doesnt happen in the private server/single player sandbox world
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
I think every Sandbox being a UO/Shadowbane clone is for a slightly different reason than every Themepark is a WoW clone but the results are pretty much the same.
Every Sandbox is a UO/Shadowbane clone because the only successful loot based PvP game on the market is EVE AKA "Spreadsheets in space". That doesn't appeal to the fantasy crowd, and it sure as hell doesn't appeal to the action based combat crowd. Many of whom are big fans of the concept of full loot Open World PvP. This is different from WoW clones where every clone is trying to replicate the success of WoW without realizing that WoW's audience is already satisfied and they will never replicate that success.
Nobody has perfected the formula for an action based loot drop PvP game yet so everyone is hoping to be the ones that do. Unfortunately for them perfecting the formula means doing a actiony full-loot PvP game different than it's ever been done before and better than it's ever done before and the slight variations they keep making on the same formula will never cut it in that regard. Making a title like this successful means making a game that can appeal to the vast majority of players looking for something deeper than ganking for gankings sake, and who do not want to be subjected to the regular abuse of the current PvP sandbox community. Until the PvP sandbox community stops treating carebears as a threat to threat to the genre and realizes that they are actually a vital component of it's success, PvP sandbox games will never succeed. As is evident by the fact the the only successful one (EVE) has 90% of the population living in the safest area of the game. If you were to remove high sec from EVE it would immediately fail hard.
This isn't helped by the fact many carebears come into sandbox games and immediately petition for a removal of all non-consensual PvP which has a very valid place in certain areas of the map, and actually serves to make carebear driven economies function better.
So basically what I'm saying is that there needs to be a company that tells the carebears to shut up in regards to complete removal of PvP, tells the griefers to shut up in regards of complete removal of carebears, makes an incredible game that has reasons for both groups to play it and then lets the quality of it's product sell the game.

Just like Risk Your Life invented targetless action WASD, without tab targeting.
