Over Five Million Players Have Taken Part During Beta - Paladins News
Hi-Rez Studios has announced that over five million players have taken part in Paladins during beta testing and that the game remains on the top of the Steam
I have put about 10 hours into it. Animations are top notch, models, sounds, are all high quality. It runs smoothly, and is a lot of fun. All they need is a few more maps/game variations. In my opinion, because you can safely compare this to Overwatch, Paladins is a better game overall for the reasons I've stated.

Paladins is a great game. I prefer it over OW because I like creating a build that allows me personalize/customize my hero to my playstyle. I do like OW's maps better, but the overall gameplay goes to Paladins for me.
I like Paladins and find it comparable to Overwatch in many ways. My issue with it is that hacking is much more an issue because when they get caught, they just create another free account and do it all over again. If you get banned in Overwatch, you have to drop another $60 to get back in the game.
While that is not conclusive proof, the fact that there is much more forum activity on hacking websites for Paladins is a strong indication more people are doing it there, rather than in Overwatch.
"Sean (Murray) saying MP will be in the game is not remotely close to evidence that at the point of purchase people thought there was MP in the game." - SEANMCAD
Free.....Nothings free. If you measure free by how much money you've paid out of your pocket, then it has the potential to cost you no money, but you've paid with something far more valuable then money.
Though the game has rocky history due to suddenly changing its style of play after Overwatch's announcement and release, it's arguably more entertaining than Overwatch in regards to customization. The existing skin system and their admitted plans for it is honestly one of the nicest features in the game, and has been steadily growing since OB's start. Plus, the "card system" which is now more like predetermined buff sets to select before the match, makes it easy to design a character that fits your playstyle. That's not even possible with Overwatch.
It's free, so if you've not played it yet, it costs nothing to try it, plus the premium currency is rewarded as a part of the daily login system, so it can stay perpetually free unless you want to hurry along acquiring items by spending real money to buy lockboxes.
One of the best games i tried so far.The only thing that the game needs its a a couple more maps, more champions.I recommend it to the gamers that dont want to give money for overwatch.
I couldn't stand overwatch, but I'm already 50h into paladins and it's just better. Card system and upgrading between the rounds is nice, champions are more diverse and less frustrating than OW.
If they follow same road as SMITE (their other game) it will become much better even. Smite looked bad in alpha and they updated all the art and maps along the road.
It really comes down to preference. Overwatch is better looking and more accessible, but Paladins heroes feel less disposable. By that I mean that Paladins has much more customization, designs its heroes to be self-sufficient rather than niche, and forces you to stick to said hero for the entire match, as opposed to swapping out.
Played the game in the early beta testing for about 1 hour. Was quite fun albeit dumbed down(lower skill requirement compared to other shooters), however from the comments I see, it seems that the game has been changed quite a bit and I even saw comments that it's faster paced than OW. I doubt it, but if it's true than since it's a f2p game it's definitley worth having on your PC even if only to play it when you have nothing else to do.
Not to mention it's from Hi-Rez Studios, so we definitely know the game is in good hands.
Edit: After I read this article I felt like playing the game, so I downloaded it and did few games and from what I saw it seem that people that play with a keyboard and mouse and people with gamepad play in the same game... I'm mentioning this because gamepads get autoaim. It's fun to see how they can barely turn to face you, but as soon as they turn in your direction the aim is on your head, not that matters much cause even without autoaim it would be strange if you get less than 80-90% accuracy...
To those that say that this game is faster paced... I don't know what to say. Everything is barely moving. I'm surprised that there are people that use hacks and whatnot when it's close to impossible not to have high accuracy rating.
Yes, they are in top charts on 19th , with current 25k players, down from a peak of 56k ( last 30 days speaking ) !
They are going exactly where they belong, for their ignorance copy/paste thing they did !

C'mon, it's well documented that OW modeled itself after TF2. OW even has an engineer hero that builds a turret.
Please, let's not turn this into a discussion where those who enjoy Blizzard titles swear they can do no wrong, and everyone else can only copy and paste them. There are plenty, and we get plenty of Blizzard news pieces where that exact convo has played out multiple times.

Never wrong to copy SOME idea from another game. Actually Blizzard Dev's clearly said that they got inspired by TF2 on some occasion.
But when Palandin dev's come up and say "WE DID NOT COPY OVERWATCH AT ALL!!!!*&^@!@!" , when their game is like a Xerox of Overwatch, THAT is ignorance and must be treated with disrespect !
Nothing against people enjoying this game ! I am however against people who didn't touch OW , but played Paladins and come up to the forums and say "Paladins betttttttttttttttter then Overwatch" . I am also against ignorant players who come up with the same exact line as Paladins dev's and say that Paladins didn't copy Overwatch. Moreso , they have the guts to say that Overwatch copied Paladins...........
...and that when Overwatch first released game play video to the public in 2014 , while Paladins was announced in 2015 .
So yeah. I am not a blindly pro Blizzard fan who just seek to "convert" other players or to "defend" the almighty Blizzard in the name of the "king".
Common sense is "pricey" those days and most don't have the gold to learn that skill !

But there are about as many key differences between the two as OW had with TF2, in my opinion.
I don't feel like cherry-picking which games to deck for copying is a good way to go about it.
Paladins does not let you quick swap heroes, it has a card customization system, and has plenty of heroes that utilize different weapons/aesthetics/mechanics than the heroes of OW.
They are much more closely related than Overwatch and Battleborn ever were, and news titles were flooded with folks trying to say those two games were attempting to copy one or the other.
If we're not cool with copying, fine. Then let's bitch about BOTH OW and Paladins copying the game that really created the genre: TF2. If we're not willing to do that... Unless we have identical back stories plagiarized from one another or something, I don't see it fair to attempt to demerit this game for copying anything or anyone just because they share the genre. And if we do see that as fair, there's no logical way it could be fair to exempt one title or the other from our ire.

You really should look at Global Agenda to see what was 'borrowed' and by whom
Right! That conspiracy theory thrown by Palandins dev's that actually they got their skills from Global Agenda.
Listen , not copying a skill , nor the ...base idea of a char makes me.."hate" dev's ! Copying like .... almost everything from a game it's fucking disgusting , and then you come up to the public and say "come play our game!! is the best ever" while that's a fucking copy/paste game from A to V ( yes, not Z ) . Moreso, you come up and say "we...didn't copy Overwatch at all ...we swear ! "
A lot of those lines were also said after WoW was released and they got copied like how China is copying "everything" from the world. " But we are not copying WoW at all!!!!! We came with brand new fucking awesome ideas" .. yet , was actually a clone of WoW.
And everyone said that WoW copied other MMO's, but WoW actually plays A LOT different then the ones who they got inspired by ! Not only it plays different, but assest, graphic , you name it, are different compared to MMOs from where they .. copied. Overwatch, as with WoW, yes .. copied other games , but they added it on their OWN fashion with different almost everything, while Palandins .. yeah! They even copied the skills animations , chars, and such ! I mean there are MANY ways to make a dwarf , yet .. they choosed almost the same art as the one from Overwatch :
"Overwatch was formally announced at the BlizzCon event on November 7, 2014; the game was playable during the event to all attendees, with fourteen characters available to select from."
The game was announced on August 5, 2015. Paladins: Champions of the Realmwent into open beta on September 16, 2016, and released on Steam as an early access title the same day.[16] That's 10 months! Enough to change graphics , skills, etc ! Plus, I heard Paladins was pretty different when it was first announced, yet .. over the course of development , we got ... OverPaladins !
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy? Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
And that same Dwarf in OW deploys an upgradeable turret as his primary skill action. TF2 did it years ago. So Blizzard had years to find something new for their engineer hero to do, and all they did was remove a few other gadgets TF2's Engineer had and one level of upgradeability on the turret.
I can get on board with the aesthetic, so long as we have proof Hi-Rez hadn't developed their drwaf's aesthetic prior to realizing Blizzard had theirs. They are closely related. But I'm not on board with demanding a developer change their already established aesthetic just because another game being developed around the same time happens to use it.

Overwatch copied Paladins. Its true you cannot continue to lie and deny it.

I enjoyed Smite so I had high hopes, and I wish it well, but it's just not my kind of title.
