One of the biggest draws to the initial design pitch of Crowfall was that its many worlds would be unique - no two sharing the exact same layout and peaks and valleys. Well, that idea is about to come to fruition in the alpha, and we spoke to Todd Coleman about what it all means for Crowfall moving forward.

    sounds too instanced to me.
how do you get to know, fear or hate your enemy?

    there is no instance.

The pieces are sticked together yes but there is no loading screen.
You can also see player on other pieces. The only loading screen you get is when you go from your Eternal kindom ( your gigantic player / guild house) into the campain world.

@Xenotoro maybe he had duration in mind. I guess couple months (each Campaign should last between 1-3) can be enough, or if not - after that, the same guilds/alliances will likely play the same "rings" i.e. sets of rules.

We will likely have a number of characters in different campaigns simultaneously, and if you "specialize" in, say, free for all / full loot ones (plus, say, on US east servers), you'll have much more chances to meet the old enemies.

I believe that the problem of an average player will be exactly the opposite: say, after losing a campaign X to a zerg guild Y, he joins campaign Z and finds out that the same guild is already there, or another branch of it (or of it's alliance), you know - like Goons in EVE.

This sounds really unique if they can make this world building tech work well, i think this could be a real game changer for the mmo genre, i'm excited for the walk throughs. Yay for innovation.

So much hype, can't wait for the test this weekend even though I won't be on it much lol.

Do not regret investing in this one bit.

This will definitely be a game a lot of people will keep installed even if they don't really like pvp or the like. Its too unique.

I think both will wind up being excellent. There's no reason not to want both to succeed.

Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

that's my opinion as well, doesn't mean i dont want crowfall to find it's niche and be successful. i wish success on any mmo that isn't copy and pasting WoW

Really? That can barely be called proceduraly generated. It's just map tetris. Whatever...

Hand making tetris pieces then having them proceduraly generate together you fix alot of the issues you get from proceduraly generated maps that have glitchy and unplayable portions cause some AI thought it would be great to make every space a giant mountain and so on.
The fact of the matter than t hese pieces will be combined in a new way on every single campaign is a nice breath of air that every campaign u got to do the whole scouting and exploring to get bearing and all that every time.

I am really not convinced about the Art Style, characters models look weird.

No, I also think it looks bad, but the fun part is getting excited about new ideas and cool concepts. We have to settle for pretending great stuff is coming.

On my opinion either this game or CU really seems to be dragging their production, aren't we going on 3 years or so?

@SirAgravaine True. but then again bad graphics doesnt mean its gonna be bad. I'd rather say that it's more of a unique artstyle. Kinda like borderlands.

I wasn't talking about the art direction...I was talking about the engine.

I'm interested to see how it will work out.

In the past, one or two campaigns usually become the one the vast majority of players want to join.. I wonder how they plan on balancing the populations across the world rulesets without one or more of them becoming, effectively, ghost worlds.

I believe that, over time, more casual rulesets will become standard (say, 3 factions like DAoC or ESO, no corpse loot etc.) with small number of hard-core FFA/FL servers surviving. That is, we will likely see some kind of history repetition - difference being that the game won't die as many before.

PS For those new to Crowfall, the main point of the game is "genetic" development of rules, i.e. server types surviving or not depending on what players like, via varying all kinds of rules and eliminating the unpopular ones - with servers lasting 1-3 months.
