It took 10 years, but Final Fantasy 15 has arrived and is the redemption the series needed. Not all fans agree, and with the recent announcement of a year's worth of DLC plans, it's clear that there are rough edges. But what's also clear is that big changes needed to happen. This is exactly the kind of evolution the series needed to stay relevant.

    TLDR: actually were just promoting this game but to be honest its a 7/10 at best, wich is the worst finaly fantasy since 10 years (except ff13 is worse) and yes the dlcs cost 30 dollars and more. Actually you got half of the game on feature content- but hey it is what it is.

    The only positive thing you said about the game was that the landscapes and wildlife were good and yet you think this is the evolution the series needed?

    Anyone that has the box copy of xbox one version do you happen to know if it is a play anywhere title? meaning it can be played on windows 10(new feature for some of xbox one titles coming out now and in future)

    The genre comes from ridiculous villains with ridiculous stories I don't see much difference.

    You might want to remove the rose tinted glasses because most of the games of the final fantasy franchise are mostly fetch/kill quests than anything. You might not have gotten quests back then, but it was implied when you had to go visit someplace you'll be killing stuff.

    This winter, prepare yourselves for Final Fantasy XV.  Five men who work day jobs at an upscale hair salon and who have never lifted anything heavier than a pair of clippers will save the world from bad haircuts. Except for the token white guy who still thinks that the mullet is in style.

    Prepare to be amazed as they fight monsters with swords twice the length of their entire bodies (and three times the weight of their bodies) that magically appear out of nowhere right when they need them.

    Straight off the cover of Asian Hair Weekly, and into the nightmarish horror Eos.  Noctis Lucis Caelum, the man with the most ridiculous name in the universe and hair to the Lucian barber stool, goes on a quest to retake his salon and its magical thinning shears after it is seized by Niflhair on the eve of peace negotiations between the two rival salons.

    I have been a lifelong FF fan since NES. I can't tell you how terrible XV is. It tried to be something it is clearly not. Long gone are the interesting job/classes, embers, material, alternative advancement in really any form. The "AP Grid" is a horrible attempt have any sense of advancement. It forces you to be a fighter class with no option to switch to a mage/bard/healer/ etc.. Magic was terribly done in this game and seemed like an afterthought.

    I can't express enough hatred towards this game... It was a huge disappointment to me.

    Honestly the combat was pretty good. The game was overall 1000x better than 13 13-2 and lightning returns. It's going in the right direction.

    Hmm, so far XV is the fastest selling FF to date. Also, your conclusion makes no sense at all, it in no way, shape or form says the game failed. Agreeing with the entire article btw. Even the FF12 statement, I loved that one and hated X/X-2.

    'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless. 

    It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

    It is just huge resource waste....'

    Final Fantasy has been disappointing since X. Why does everything have to cater to mass audiences? In trying to cater to the masses, we got a mix of game styles. EASILY the worst open world content from a major title. Action combat thats actually decent, but takes away from the series strong points of character progression (and a camera that cant handle it). The least memorable cast of characters since FFV (well, XII maybe has a claim here). A stunning lack of attention to detail both plot/setting wise and gameplay wise.

    The game is a mess. A mess that sometimes work because the world is gorgeous and the combat and dungeons are good, but its still a mess.

    The series needs a new FFIX. Bring it back to its roots, its forgotten a lot of what makes the series great.

    I would play a spiritual successor to FFXV if they actually put effort into having compelling content, but they should drop the FF tag for it. That way they arent shackled with things like plopping chocobos in a setting they dont belong in (seriously, the chocobo rental services makes no sense at all)

    i dunno about this....frankly i've watched quite a few streams and have no desire to try this game. the style is just weird ...hipster/emo? if there is such a thing....the quests look insanely boring. the 4 guys always driving in a car was....so bromantic ?.......the dialogue...ugh.. the only somewhat cool part was the combat, but even that had cringe worthy stuff (tagging your friends in a fight? ...whaat?) the whole thing felt just weird, and effeminate, and ....kind of gay....rip FF.

    hipster emo all male friends boyband ( some trans?, the way they look maybe )
    having fun in a open world final fantasy style. meaning less style !!

    push a car and do alot of useless stuft, enjoy the open world of nothing do to there !!

    im not sure that the evolution ff15 need, but if they have find peoples who like theses type of games im happy for them, im clearly not their target anymore.

    kinda liked the more manly final fantasy style, with humour and good vilain + good style and story.


    loved final fantasy 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10, to me final fantasy end at 10,

    after they got worst and worst, they should change the name at this points.

    Indeed I watched the prequel movie and liked that quite a bit then saw it leads to these spoiled emo's....I was like what the hell?

    FF needs to get back to its roots.  Was a sad day when square became squenix

    Its wrong to say its the fastest selling FF to date since with every year more people get a console, also increased population and increased advertisement. No FF so far had THIS MUCH advertisement in history. Let me tell you this: Final Fantasy 7 remake will sell even MORE, cause it has the biggest fanbase of any FF and also will carter to the new generation of players. But it doesnt mean its good cause FFXV is lackluster in every part but combat and visuals. Also the way magic is handled is a very bad sign- this is not a ff and should not be reviewed as one.

    What I don't understand is why very few reviews, even from this site which usually does a good job with reviews, didn't really touch on what a mess the game is, or if they did somehow it still got a 9/10. Its weird.

    Its unusual for me to be able to list so many things that are totally off about a game, but for this one I seem to have written pages on it. Its so flawed at the most fundamental levels, how can reviewers just dismiss that?

    Actually, FFs biggest market, Japan, has seen console sales decline since 2007. And besides that, it isn't wrong to call it the fastest selling FF if it is just that, the fastest selling FF. 

    It indeed does not mean it is a good game, or a bad one. You saying it is lackluster also does not mean it is or isn't good. But overall reviews are good and although decisive amongst fans a lot of them clearly rate it very high with extremely strong sales to support that. That does carry quite a bit more weight than your opinion, or mine for that matter.

    Didn't FFXV sell as one of the lower end releases in recent years? IIRC FFXV only sold a meager 90k more than XIV in its first week. I don't remember exactly but for first week sales, XIV had somewhere around 600k and XV had 690k. On the other end XIII had Gorillion in sales, not sure how, but apparently it was really well hyped. I was excited for XV, only to be let down. Honestly it's safe to say that the game was released unfinished. Who knows, maybe three years down the line when everything gets worked out, maybe the game will be less crappy, but I doubt they'll re-write that shitty ending.

    totally disagree what really needs is back its roots a JRPG that have some kind of strategy ...

    bought it and is good (but NOT THAT good) 7/10 and because graphics ....

    im afraid of FFVII remake now
