Any good ARPG?

JSN5JSN5 Member UncommonPosts: 2
Heya, guys!

Any suggestions on a good ARPG (by that I mean hack'n'slash Diablo-type games). So far, I've played:
  • Diablo - all of them
  • Torchlight 2
  • Grim Dawn
  • Path of Exil
  • Titan Quest
  • Vam Helsing
  • Victor Vran
Any other decent ones out there? I know there are some MMOARPGS in development, which I am sooo waiting for, but until then?

Thanks a lot!

You've played all the good ones honestly. You can try Devilian.

    Marvel Heroes.

Also although it's not an mmo and its fairly old, Sacred 2 gold edition is pretty good.

Agreed. The best ones are on the list. The rest are mediocre shadows, but still Scorchien's list has some good ideas.
if the op doesnt mind participating in EA , Wolcen is a great choice .. its gonna be a great game

Thank you all for the answers.
Scorchien, have you played Wolcen? I saw some footage last week and it looks promising, but, if you've played it, is it worth trying right now? Or should I wait for the development to go further?

    Thanks!

I really want Wolcen and the new Divinity game, both in EA.  I just hate ruining it by playing games that only have partial completion.  Even Grim Dawn changed tremendously through EA to release.

    How about Torchlight 1.

Try Mount and Blade: Warband or any other series with Mount n Blade on it. If you're into mobile, you can try Torchlight Mobile, MU Origins or Zenonia.

If you don't mind a little RTS in your RPG, try Spellforce 2 :)

Completely agree.  I really want Divinity 2, but I won't buy an EA game.  I don't want to get into it and find a wall where I can't proceed through.  I'd rather have the full game available from the get go.  But I'm happy EA is there for those that like it.

    Marvel Heroes
The acronym MMORPG use to mean Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game.

But the acronym MMMORPG now currently means Microscopic Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. Kappa.

I really enjoyed Titan Quest with a good story and expansions. You could probably pick up the lot pretty cheap now.

For what it's worth. Titan Quest release an "Anniversary Edition" a little bit back. It includes the Immortal Throne so may be worth revisiting.

Otherwise, I thought Torchlight 1 (as @Hariken mentioned) was a lot of fun. Others have mentioned Marvel Heroes which is pretty neat given all the available characters (if you like Marvel).

For Marvel Heroes, I did not feel like it was too challenging to 'play for free' and unlock various characters I wanted with in game currency (you can play any character to level 10 for free last I played). On the downside, inventory management was pretty crappy. Honestly though, I've not played for a few months, so things may have changed for either aspect.

For something a bit different, there is always Bastion, by Supergiant Games, which I don't recall as being the loot-grind type ARPG that is typical. It's more story driven, but really a unique experience I thought and worth trying out (Demo available on Steam). It's a few years old now, but has aged well in my opinion and worth picking up on sale.
