Black Desert is mmo of the year. Game launched in Korea and now has expanded to Russia, Europe, Japan, North America, Taiwan and soon South America. Any other mmo has done this please enlighten me.
Just because a game is available everywhere doesn't make it the best. Though I must agree, BDO is the best MMO of 2017 (IMO)
We should have awards for "Best Troll" & "White Knight" 2016!!
This should definitely be a thing!
I think the cool Rabbit Avatar wins White Knight 2016 hands down.... Troll will be a little harder with all the competition.
Yeah.. 2016 was an off year for me. Prior years I think I would have been a strong contender but since PFO collapsed a year ago I've really only made some half-hearted attempts.
@BillMurphy You should definitely make this a thing.

Who needs game awards? I doesn't put money in my bank at the end of the day. I don't play games because they are popular or the non-popular rebel games. So why do we need awards?

Yet the official best of 2016 on this website will be WoW and Rift again

got to say wow legion, archage and black desert are the only decent mmos at the moment, fresh start server on archage will give people a few months of fun its been a week and is already getting a bit old lol. black desert is ok if you like grinding your life away every day to stay competitive though if your not near the top you'll never catch up lvl or gear wise, wow legion has boring combat system that lets it down but is an old game so isn't its fault. eve online still exists but only because of lack of competition they never made the changes needed for this to still be going strong unfortunately.
Best expansion? The final expansion of Witcher 3. Game I'm most looking forward to? Mass Effect Andromeda.
Oh you mean MMO's? Can't think of a one. The only one I'm playing right now is EQ2. And that's pretty much for the housing. Plus, it's Frostfell. My favorite time of year.
That was mean. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes. Did you never saw a movie trailer which was awesome and then you were really disappointed by the actual movie ? Ok, in this case there wasn't even a movie to begin with...
Anyway, on topic. No MMO nominee this year. No MMO deserves it, none should get it imo.
1. Best MMO : Elder Scrolls Online is the best MMO ...especially after One Tamriel. It is not perfect ..but it has the most vast and the best content on the market. ...and is growing very fast . Respect: Final Fatasy XV and Black Desert
2. Best Developer : Blizzard 3. Best ARPG : Diablo 3 and Path Of Exile 4: Most Improved Game of the Year : Elder Scrolls Online. 5.. Most Anticipated Game of 2017 : Dark and Light, Bless and hopefully Camelot Unchained , Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen 6.Best Non-MMO of the Year: DeusEx: Mankind Divided 7.Expansion of the Year: Elder Scrolls Online: One Tamriel
Developer of the Year: Crate Entertainment for Grim Dawn and their responsiveness to the community
Best NEW Game of the Year: Grim Dawn
Most Improved Game of the Year: Hex: Shards of Fate, they finally have their act together and are meeting set release schedule and dropped the second PvE adventure zone packed with great content.
Most Anticipated Game of 2017: Nioh - Team Ninja makes Dark Souls inspired Samurai game . . . f yeah
Best Non-MMO of the Year: Dark Souls 3
Best RPG of the Year: Dark Souls 3
Best "It's super popular but I don't play it" Award: Overwatch
2016 has been a terrible year for MMOs for me, though admittedly so have the previous 3. The shift to action-combat has nearly killed the genre for me and most of the older MMOs have dumbed themselves down too much for me to enjoy.
So, it's been a year of single-player games.
Developer of the Year: Ubisoft
Yeh, I know, they have many problems, but Ubisoft do at least try new things. Being a self-publisher they seem to be able to experiment with AAA games more than anyone else out there and so they have quite a diverse range of games. The 30th anniversary has meant some nice free games too. I'm mainly voting Ubi because of their new studio in Europe (Annecy) and their game Steep.
Best NEW Game of the Year: Steep
Probably the best winter sports game I've ever played. It does for winter sports what Skate did for skateboarding: put in the realism and made the core game extremely satisfying. You aren't constantly chasing new challenges or unlocks, its more about simply getting pleasure out of the experience. No need to go for crazy corkscrew tricks, just ride and enjoy the way it looks and feels.
Most Anticipated Game of 2017: Camelot Unchained
I don't expect big things from this game in terms of success or profit. However, I am expecting great, deep combat mechanics suited to PvP which I will personally find enjoyable. More, I am expecting CUBE to be a massive leap forwards for MMOs. The ability to design your own buildings and structures, nearly freeform, then sell the templates in game and actually have them built in the world.....that is a true MMO feature. A persistent world where we can actually alter the landscape in a meaningful way. Can't wait
Best Non-MMO of the Year: Steep
Best RPG of the Year: ???
I've been struggling with RPGs for a while. I hate action combat and I hate story-focused games, yet that is what the RPG genre seems to have devolved into. Gone is the deep combat and deep character progression. Gone is the focus on gameplay. I always end up feeling like I'm playing either an interactive movie (which is simultaneously worse than both watching a movie and playing a proper game) or a button-mashing seizure-inducing mess. Fuck that
Best at not spending money on MMOs Award: Kopo
Currently Playing: WAR RoR - Spitt rr7X Black Orc | Scrotling rr6X Squig Herder | Scabrous rr4X Shaman
Don't like Asian grinders that are all the same more or less, don't care for alpha quality indie crap.
They should suspend all of these so-called awards for 5 years and then come back and ask again, it will take that long for any decent games to make it to market.
I can't vote on ANY MMO this year. While there are some that could be good (maybe give honorable mention) there are none that I have been playing more then a few hours (and that is only TESO). So my honorable mention would probably be EVE Online (not for the f2p launch), SWTOR and TESO.

Never said it was.
It the best because everything else is worse.
I have played since beta so there is nothing that you can break to me.
Would love to see some links to show that it is not doing well in the West and it does not need to top any charts.
