I can forsee Roma Victor passing everybody's greatest expectations if it stays complex and immersive as the devs said they would. There just isnt anything wlse like that out and if good word of mouth spreads then other gamers will flock to the new gem.

If you mean "what are the terms" then I have the answer. Basically, if you "gank" another player, and are caught/reported , your account is banned for 7 days, and your character is left crusified out in the middle of the city during your ban, so all the other players can laugh at you for being a cheapass killing lower, newer players.

Im currently playing Lineage II and its PvP all the time.  There are however those players that feel that a level 60+ killing a noob with 1 shot is PvP.  These perma red characters should be crucified to, that would make my day lol

Buying in-game stuff with RL money that is...

SOE will sell items like weapons and armor. RV doesnt go to those extremes thankfully because the economy is player run

From the interviews I've seen about SOEs plans, you'd be buying access to private instances, furniture, hair colours, etc

The only reason lots of people are kissing Vanguard ass is because its got some bigheadname guy involved with it, who I dont give a shit about, that 1 person cant do everything on his own, the entire team needs involvement. And it looks like Roma Victor will provide most of the things we miss from old SWG.

You've missing everything that everyone is excited about. It's not about one man. It's the way the company is being run. I'm not going to bother typing this long post explaining everything when you're not going to read it anyway, you've already made up your mind, what I will do is tell anyone interested to use the Dev tracker on the Vanguard forums. If even half of the companies attitudes and philosophies on MMO's are their true colors, you can't help but get excited about this game.

I really never paid too much attention to Romo Victor but think I'll do some reading up on it now.  That skill tree has me intrigued.   Not just a few choices but almost too many..

Its easy to make assumptions on how the devs really are when the game is in closed beta. Yes I have examined the site throughly, and so far it looks exactly like EQ2 (even the building archetecture and the way pc's are mounted on horses are a carbon copy of EQ2...and yes, I know riding a horse is rididng a horse...cant get but so unique). It promises things just like weve seen before in many games, which are eventually, sometimes later than sooner, erased *cough* swg *cough*. The entire progression system in Roma Victor is just plain laid out better than the ran over leveling system that Vanguard will be using, its "been there, done that", while Roma Victor has a system which has been extinct since swg went down the shitter.

Over/under is a betting term. I'm wanting to know how soon Riker will end up cruicified. Guess if you have to 'splain the joke...

I'm getting all hot and bothered over Warhammer. Check out the 5 page feature on this main page. Sure, it's not 40k, but MAN it looks like a blast.

How can the economy be player run if you are buying gold with real money? I know that they've stated they weill keep an eye on it and regulate it, but whats to stop some rich person from buying a gajillion gold, just because they can? I dont see how they can stop the massive inflation that comes with buying gold.

I'm pretty sure that they are talking about putting a cap on how much gold you can buy per month. I might be wrong, but I'm to lazy to look it up right now.

Which buildings and archetecture? You see, if you have really been over the site throughly you'd know that each area has different buildings and architecture that are vastly different from each other.

and the way pc's are mounted on horses are a carbon copy of EQ2...and yes, I know riding a horse is rididng a horse...cant get but so unique).

So you realize this can't really be unique, and yet slam it anyway? That means that every MMO must be exactly like EQ2 then since people look pretty much the same on a horse?

It promises things just like weve seen before in many games,

So does every game released, the difference is some games offer some things that are unique, Vanguard has promised some unique things.

which are eventually, sometimes later than sooner, erased *cough* swg *cough*.

So why are you so sure that this will happen to Vanguard but not Roma Victor? SWG started with a Skill system and switched to a level system not the other way around. If we are using SWG as a model like you suggest, that would mean Roma Victor has a better chance of removing things.

The entire progression system in Roma Victor is just plain laid out better than the ran over leveling system that Vanguard will be using, its "been there, done that", while Roma Victor has a system which has been extinct since swg went down the shitter.

I'm not putting down Roma Victor, to be honest once I learned the subscriptions would basically be payed by a modified ebay system, I wrote it off, and haven't looked at it since. I just wanted to explain that people's interest in Vanguard was more than one's guy involvment.

Its preety safe to say swg was/is a good lesson to all developers as to what to/not to do with a game, also, im "not to sure" changes like that will happen to either game, it was a nonshalant statement, not a stone cold fact.

Also dont judge me on wether or not I have been to the site. Ive told you ive been to the site, and I have been, and ive looked it over very well, if you choose not to believe that then just get over it. Im also not required to prove this to you in any way, nor will I do so for you. I dont like anything about Vanguard, so im not gonna dig on that site again to post evidence of my claim of carbon copy archetecture, if it irks you that bad, you go look for it in their gallery of cut/paste screen shots. Now that im done with you.....

Im glad there is a decent looking and sounding game on the way that is based on real-life events, The Roman Empire. The rehashed fantasy setting is really starting to take its toll on me when it comes to MMO's, with single player games (like Oblivion) I like it...for now. Also another game comming up which mirrors Roma Victor's real-life setting is Pirates of the Burning Sea, ive been folloing this one closely for awhile and I hope get into beta eventually.

You've already proven you haven't gone over it "very well" quite adequately thank you.

Which would be impossible to do, since you lied about it to begin with.

It doesn't irk me. It's typical of the posts you find here. bull$#!& statements that have no basis in fact, yet trying to pass it off as if you have some clue of what you're talking about...when you don't.

Now that im done with you.....

I can accept that, it must be rough arguing with someone who know you're full of crap.

You're one of those who just can't stand someone else having the last word aren't you?

This thread was dead, leave it like that.

SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!

Only on forums. You see if I don't respond I get assine comments later about how "They won because I left the thread in defeat".

There is also the matter of, I don't want to be someone like Wickes that just comes in here, throws some generalizations and insutls out there, and then takes off so you can't have your say. By me posting, you know I've let you have your say, and I've read it.

Since there are obviously a lot of us out there looking for a replacement for our SWG fix...I'd like to throw a couple more suggestions out there for your perusal. If you haven't already, take a look at Darkfall and The Chronicle. Both offer open skill systems with no leveling, complex crafting, and dynamic 'sandbox' style worlds. The only complaints I have with either at this point are that they aren't out yet. (Oh, and take a look at the new gameplay video for Darkfall...static screen shots don't quite do the graphics justice).
