    I vote Jaldaan01s post actually.

Seeing as it's not "us people" who state those things, but rather those who visit. While "us people" straighten them out. ^^

And I believe the reason many people ask is that they DO know what Warhammer is, but are afraid the game will end up being a Daoc or WoW clone, games which doen't quite catch the spirit of the huge genre-spanning franchise which is warhammer (in my opinion).

Well since they won't even list what features are in the game, we don't have a lot to go on. So from what little we do know, it does look like a WOW clone.

So the only people making stupid comments on this forum are you.

So turn off your out of control fanboi switch for a little while okay?

    mmmh. let see

    - no levels

    - WYSIWYG representation, meaning no /con system

    - RvR with pvp divided in 4 main modes giving you dynamic scenarios that links together to lead to conquer of enemy capital city.

    - Char development based on Professions that gives you various skills/abilities upgrade. you can get various skills from various professions and even get advanced ones, SWG Pre-NGE style.

Enough? don't seems a WoW clone to me at all.

the  beta doesn't even start till this summer, and if you look at the races and the "custom" based ruleing of  it for zones and such it's exactly like WoW... but better.. and that is why im getting it.. it was everything WoW was supposed to be.. thats my excuse :P

I'm sorry but some people assume more than they know, yet act like what they say is fact.

First of all, WoW (Blizzard) built their own engine from the ground up, if I'm not mistaken. Anyone who thinks they copied DAoC is wrong. Partly also because DAoC copied EQ1. (Yeah, I said it.)

Secondly, both are games that share a similar type of fantasy setting. Orcs, Undead, couple different types of Elves. It's natural to compare them. People try to claim that it will be a WoW clone because a) they're ignorant and b) from the screenshots I've seen, the graphic style is VERY similar. I'm not complaining, I like the graphic style and think it's way better than the wannabe-realistic types like EQ2 and whoever else.

The truth is, Blizzard's Warcraft series and the Warhammer series have both been around longer than a large amount of the people who're reading this site. I believe Warhammer was actually created first, but that doesn't really matter at this point. And I'm talking about the Warhammer property, not the MMO duh.

Anyways, people who are WoW Fanbois (I hate that term) or who just want to hate on WAR will call it a WoW clone. Other people (like me) just want to see this game be as successful as WoW and the tabletop game are.

thats true, Warhammer did come first. .around.. i think between the late 80's and 90's never got big really.. but i've been playing the tabletop for 6-7 years now, all i can say really is im going to pick warhammer over WoW anyday.. yet i love WoW as well, hopeing to get to playing again since i was hacked into. but all in all warhammer online is bringing me new life in to the RPG world... so no one.. pelase.. if you got a heart .. don't take  my sick pleasurable bliss away : /

  • Not to mention this, but WoW is an EQ1 clone, and that's a very solid fact

Warhammer was initially released (Book/box form) in 1983.
The second addition along with the RPG book was released in 1987.

I honestly wouldn't mind this being a WoW clone... as long as it remains a pvp orientated game throughout it's life and doesn't turn into a farm fest like WoW.

I think it's going to be a Warhammer clone, but in MMO form instead of tabletop/pen and paper form considering they're working from Warhammer lore, Warhammer design ideas, Warhammer character models, and the Warhammer setting.

What is there to straighten people out about?

Mythic created DAoC.. and a lot of the stuff in DAoC was added to test systems for W.A.R.

It doesn't have to be an exact clone with slightly different skins.

There will however, be many similar systems to people who play both games.  Which makes sense its easier to test/refine something in a current game.  Then work it into your next project already working.

My fear wouldn't be that W.A.R would be a DAoC "clone".

My fear would be will Mythic screw this up as bad as they have DAoC.  If you played Dark Age much and saw what happened to the population of the game as Mythic blindly added things players didn't want.. you would understand what I mean here.

The people who played DAoC weren't the type to quit to go play WoW.

So that would be the fear I would have anyway.

That's what a WoW clone is.... a big farm/grind/instance fest. So hope this ISN'T a WoW clone. I'm happy to have confirmation from Mythic that it isn't since it is PRIMARILY pvp, and that is just awsome.

Mythic = AssHats..   I wouldn't play this game because I would be giving money to the fooktards that are mythic

I think all of the total 9 posts that you have done, were just on this forum as a newbie poster? And talking about how you hate Mythic.

Take it to a forum who really cares about your problem, here you wont get sympathy, just flamed, which apparently you'll like as it looks.

What difference does it make which game got it first? As long as both games have mainly instanced pvp, the single most retarted thing ever invented in MMO history, they both suck equally, clones or not.

Some PvP will be instanced in W.A.R. and some will not, to compare the complete design failure or WoW PvP to an RvR centric game like W.A.R. is like comparing Hello Kitty Online to Shadowbane.

There are a lot of things that will be similar to DAoC in W.A.R. Instancing PvP is not in DAoC but will be in W.A.R. Instance PvP is something that the 8v8 has wanted for a while. Mythic has stated that that design is not what there RvR is about. I agree with the poster that said some things that are being added to DAoC in recent months are a sort of testing ground for W.A.R. Mythic can be flamed for a lot of things but they do know how to put out a game and how to deliver EP's. Sure ToA was a bit much for a large portion of the user base but it was a needed EP at the time. 50's were just sitting around with nothing but RvR to do. Introducing the grind to them wasn't a mistake. Faced with players getting bored and leaving I think it was a good move to add that grind. Adding NF was a bit of a shock and a lot of people hate NF and begged for OF to come back. Mythic gave a different version of OF in the form of the central isle but it is a zerg lag fest. Bad call or listening to the players? To this W.A.R will have large area open PvP and smaller personal PvP. Mythic has learned from 3 realm balance that it is more manageable to have 2. Thats not to say a few EP's down the road, that a new faction will emerge...It will! That is the world of Warhammer. Clone is a word that can be thrown around by every player of every game. Ideas that are successful will be used by different teams in different games. If it is that the stylized art is similar to WoW..sure..Blizzard spoke with GW long ago about its orcs and gobblins..etc. Instance PvP...not a WoW original. PvP Flag decay...Good Design. Capitol City seige....Who here has voted for Home invasion server everytime it comes up on the DAoC loggin poll?!?! It was actually the most popular!!! Lets see it work in W.A.R.
