The Red Mage is so elegant in the combat video they showed of it. Not only with the attacks, but with the special class emotes. The "spider man" shirt (for those who don't know, the producer director often wears shirts to hint at a next class reveal) is one of the most cryptic and troll like yet. The only thing people have been able to come up with is that the director of the first few movies was named "Samuel Raimi" or something. Take the last two letters from the fore and surname. "Samu Rai"

Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

a nice list of upcoming features, color me interested. Stormblood will be considered standalone? does that mean i can jump right into that content? if thats the case then im even more interested. I bought heavensward but i never got to see that content because i was forced to grind old content first and i got stuck on a forced group part of the main storyline so i unsubbed.

Important to note that they are "thinking" about RDM starting at 50, hasn't been set in stone yet. It is for sure that you won't need to go to the new area(s) in Stormblood to get the job unlocked though, like you had to do for MCH/DRK/AST, so that should make some people feel better. Other pre-reqs arent known yet though. Interesting food for thought is that since the unlock for this class will be in one of the starting cities (Ul'dah/Limsa/Gridania), then you can assume that there will be 3 instead of 2 (even though the devs did say that they are trying to see if they get a 3rd ready before the expansion). If they do three, it'll most likely be DNC and SAM to go with RDM.

So... Let's do some math, shall we?

    * Red Mage will start at 50, instead of 30 like the original jobs, or those introduced with HW. It will probably require having another job at level 50+ to do the unlock quest.

    And...

    * Red Mage is a job Yoshida/SE knows many are excited to play, and will likely want to unlock straight out of the gate... I suspect the same will be true of the other job(s) they introduce.

    And...

    * Level jumping potions will get you straight to level 50 (possibly 60), high enough to unlock Red Mage and/or other new job(s). They also know gamers are generally very impatient.

    Equals...

    How convenient.

Also, at this point, I don't even think FFXIV deserves to be a numbered entry in the series. It should be "Final Fantasy Universe" or "World of Final Fantasy". At least half the content in the game is taken directly from other games in the series - and I don't mean things like "chocobos, airships and Cid". I mean entire systems... now they're bringing "Ivalice" into it. I'm surprised FFXV hasn't been shoe-horned in yet, but I'm sure that's only a matter of time.

With each update, FFXIV has less and less identity of its own. It's becoming more of a "host" for SE to fill with nostalgia, fan-service, and more cash shop opportunities.

Hopefully the skill overhaul would be good. Honestly should try to bring back maybe team party combo skill of some sort to make every also perform better team play.
Why do people insist on making the game terrible? Team play comes through clever encounter mechanics, not archaic systems from 2001.

I'm glad to say as long as people like you don't agree with the game's direction, it will continue to be fun and wildly successful.

All borrowed systems are incorporated into Eorzea with great care and effort. Nothing is haphazardly tacked on as much as haters would want it.

I don't see how that makes the game terrible, one of the most interesting aspects of ffxi was the ability to combo with the rest of your party. Having said that, things have changed since then. Back in the day, if you missed a combo, everyone would shrug it off and continue with the battle. Now I can see a ton of crybabies raging and kicking people out of the group for not hitting it perfect.

Yes, people like me, who played from Alpha 1.0 and supported the game with my time and, eventually, money right up to 1.23b. People like me, whom backed and supported SE and Yoshida in fixing and turning FFXIV around when most others would only mock it and anyone playing it.

People like me, whom supported ARR through its development, and played from Alpha through launch and up to 3.4, before finally tiring of the direction they were clearly taking it.

People like me whom played an important role in people like you even *having* a 2.0+ to white-knight for.

You're welcome for that, by the way.

Yes, the game is clearly better off without people "like me" in it. Of course. Can't have people going around thinking or being critical of FFXIV now, can we?

If people without blinders, and cabable of critically looking at what state the game is in, not only how we want to see it are what you don't want in the game, then you're in luck. More and more of those people are waking up, seeing the writing on the wall, and leaving. Given enough time, all you'll have is an echo chamber of people whom, like you, think the game is "wildly successful"

On that note, I know it's not a popular opinion among folks like yourself, because it's not kissing Yoshida's ass, but nothing about FFXIV is "wildly successful".

Take a look around the scene, friend. There are other MMORPGs out there which, to begin with, actually deserve to have "RPG" in their description. There are other MMORPGs out there with systems in place which are working just fine, despite Yoshida's claims that FFXIV can't have them because they're "too difficult" or "not possible".

But you know, you just keep singing the praises of your so-called "Director/Producer". I'll keep laughing at him, as he spews out lame excuses for why FFXIV can't or doesn't have systems or features other MMOs have right now, or have had for years, despite having the same limitations to work with (cross-platform, etc).

I'll continue to shake my head as he puts out these hysterical explanations trying to justify, rationalize and convince people that adding stuff like "jumping potions" is totally necessary and totally not a cash grab when any non-gullible person with two working brain-cells to rub together can see quite plainly that a "cash grab" is precisely what it is. But, by all means, you just keep sleeping and believing everything Yoshida tells you. He's totally on your side, after all.

    Hmm.

I'm still not seeing any actual counter-arguments. So far it's just been "you're whiny" and "this game is better off without you". Duly noted, but irrelevant.

I've got a list a mile long of Yoshida's fumbles, failures and overall incompetence with FFXIV since 2.0, but especially since 3.0. Every one of them is known, documented and 100% based on fact. For example, there are myriad examples of things he's said are "not possible", or "too difficult to implement" that are being handled just fine by other MMORPGs, some going back a decade or more, including those with multi-platform support, etc.

    But that's just one category.

Meanwhile, all you people have are insults to throw around at people "saying mean things about your game".

So, just keep throwing the insults. Keep avoiding the facts. You're only helping prove me right.

Laugh at me all you want but I kinda miss some aspects of the original version compared to a realm reborn.

Still a good game, just preferred the environment being so hostile and unable to solo everything alone.

Why does the character representing the Red Mage feels like Minfillia in cosplay? Just the blonde hair and the animation of how she moves makes me wonder.
