NetEase, developers of Revelation Online, has named its next MMO "Justice". Said to have been in development for the past four years, the game is heading to beta soon according to 2P.com. Justice is based on Chinese martial arts novels and "will support 3D and 2.5D modes". In addition, combat will rely on realistic mechanics.

Sort of a ridiculous claim to make as realistic combat mechanics are framed by human factors such as fatigue, muscle cramps, sprains and tears, broken bones etc....

Having immortal virtual characters that never tire, never have any kind of injury - "realistic" combat mechanics? Yeah, no.
They are obviously trying to start a new sub genre in the survival scene. Survival Martial Arts simulator. You'll need to eat, sleep, train, get a job, buy a trainer, etc.

The way I read it is that there will simply be some additional (kind of) realistic combat mechanics on top of combat mechanics standardly included in every other MMO rather than that the combat will be completely realistic.
Possibly, like positioning or having the ability to target certain parts of the mob for more damage or cause a debuff.

FFXIV already has an "over-used" positional system for its melee dps, where attacks from the flank or behind lead to additional damage and status effects/debuffs.

What is up with all the word parsing. Realistic combat can simply mean combat subject to real physics. Meaning unlike other martial arts mmos with people flying, wall walking or using mystical magical attacks, this will be more within the realm of reality.

LOL Goodbye "Snail Games" Born To Fail ^^...

Simply a lot better of a game than anything they make if they do it right considering their last two failures and going on third one Dark & Light.

    Heh maybe.

Still anyone who has ever done any kind of actual fighting knows - pain is a major factor - I got punched in the throat and had a partially collapsed trachea, that shit hurt so bad for days. You get hurt like that and your will to fight just disappears.

Does this "realistic" combat simulator simulate pain, because yeah, pain can end any fight in a second.
I know but probably would hurt less than a fireball ;)
