I'd finish off World of Darkness.
    CCP already did

I would try and get the IP to Stargate and have the 'main' focus trying to unlock a 9th chevron that allowed you to access PG planets but it wouldnt be some quest where you could write a guide so everyone would get it but it would be an actual undertaking. Of course there would be the generic chevrons everyone could learn and as many planets as one could possibly imagine. MOre than likely PG in nature as well and each planet would have a race or two with their own mini game with in the game with crafting housing and rep. Where you would have to gain rep to open up certain things, and not the generic grind you see now. There would also be consequences to gaining rep with some races as in losing it with other or maybe gaining some as well.

But Stargate had the most potential of any IP ever including Star Wars because its not a closed story. It does have some limiting back story but not so limited as to hurt an MMO. And one could use that back story to piggy back off.

Sad it didnt have a better chance to get made.

I would make a VR, motion stick compatable MMORPG that is in the mold of EQ. This would include voice activated: Spells (point and speak), empowered abilities (charged before striking), and interactions with NPCs (instead of typing the keyword, you could speak it). The VR and motion sensor portion would not be required, you could still play as you do now as not to exclude players.

The crafting would include multiuple steps like VG but also use the motion stick or cursor drag, place, click to hammer, etc. Spells could be crafted including the speech pattern needed.

A player creation toolkit would be made, similar to the foundry, but there would be a dev reviewed and implimented option to add content to the open world, since the base of the world would be seemless. You could of course add player-made instances like you can currently in Neverwinter.

    Hmmm....what to do.

I'd resurrect SWG, wait for all the players to return and get settled, and then shut it down.

I want a rerun of all the screaming and crying. It was hilarious.

Because I'm a masochist, I would try to make a Star Wars MMORPG.

Rogue 1 time frame at launch, full space game, full ground game.

Non-permanent characters, I would look for something like what you have in pen and paper games where your character is not immortal but tends to have some decent ability to survive danger (luck points to escape or something). Jedi are available but if you use your abilities you cause trouble for yourself and others. Factions would actually have to succeed in economics to prevail. The Empire would be split up into governorships and Imperial Forces (NPC). New factions can be created by players but are vetted by devs.

I would not have player cities like SWG, but I would allow players to hire NPC builders to create structures either adding on to existing towns and cities or building outposts. No instant structures, they would take time to build and would be destructible/repairable. NPC's like houses, so they might try to take yours.

I would copy SWG crafting as closely as I could without getting sued, but I would allow more diversity of final appearance.

Cantinas with dancers, drinks, bar fights, secret meetings, smugglers, and player interdependence.

A character creator that makes Star Wars characters, but is CoH-like in its awesomeness.

Have you read the Neutron Star shorts by Niven? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutron_Star_(short_story_collection)

It's a really thought provoking short. The rest of the stories in the collection are are good as well, but the title story is the best. That was some deep twisty stuff for a junior high kid.

I would go with his tales of known space ring worlds and etc in space.

I would use it to recreate a SWG like game, using a mix of pre/post NGE features and add some of my own ideas. With modern graphics ofc, but focusing more on optimization then state of the art looks.

It would not become a MMO though. But a game that lets you host your own dedicated server, which lets you change the rules to your liking (a la minecraft, Ark, etc). Create a friendly PVE server for your friends and family, or publish it for strangers and turn it into a horrible FFA PVP rules server, I don't care. Whatever floats your boat.

This would make it possible to add mod support too (all assets replacable, scripts for new content etc). So people can create their own game rules and add more content through mods. Or a complete overhaul to turn it into some kind of Firefly universe.

With the communities smaller and private people in charge of the server, it is also easier to prevent the housing problems like the MMO had.

Wont have the money even with winning lotto :P but still here my list of things i would have.

    - Fantasy based this is my prefered MMO style
    - Freedom to kill any NPC and lots of factions/alignments for individual NPC that can be gained and loss via various deeds (Kinda like how Everquest 1 worked you could work ur alignment up with normal hostile mobs if you wanted too such as gnolls but that would generally involved killing human guards so they KOS you instead)
    - Open world, so 0 Instances at all including raids and dungeons which will all be open world.
    - Much much larger leash on mobs no these piddle 10m chases then they give up the mobs arnt all, they chase you to the guards where they kill them for you or far away from there camps/base.
    - No instant travel except some classes abilitys (makes the world feel small) Transport will be in like boats which actually travel between points takes like 5-15 minutes depending on distance.
    - Equipment is harder to come by, not handed out constantly every 3 seconds so equipment last longer.
    - Smaller gap between levels and equipments so you can be competative with people higher gap difference
    - PvP game not FFA though maybe 4-6 factions sounds good + Rogue faction which is FFA PvP
    - Focused on crafting and economy, localized resources would play around with the concept of local resource banks but global equipment and money bank.
    - Trade runs that can be dropped on death so risk vs rewards (This includes resources)
    - Death that means something let it be item dropped on death or loss of some XP
    - Hidden secrets and area's that are there to discover for example there a sealed wall to a cavern you wouldn't realy notice anything to off about this cliff face but there a small device or somthing that people may miss if there not paying attention. This device tell you nothing but say an old dwarf across the world may mention something about a sealed dwarven city withing the face of a cliff and may possibly hint to a lead or he may give just not enough info that you need to ask around more to see if anyone else has stumbled across more info from other NPC. eventually somone may put all the pieces to gether unlocking this cave which may yield a hidden player city a guild or faction that solved the riddle may be able to take over.
    - Sieges for factions to fight over territories, should be harder to seige city miles away from ur territory than it is to seige a city next to your territories so there a front line battle field where majority of the conflicts may happen.
    - Would want to see ship combat and ship trading aswell as pirate faction.

I'd purchase the City of Heroes IP from NCsoft and have it totally remastered in Unreal 4.

Second choice (and the one that would be way more affordable) would be to put a few million into Heroes and Villains.

The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!

I played SWG throughout its lifespan and I didn't see these "Housing Problems" that everyone refers to. I saw empty houses around some of the cities late in the game, but there was still plenty of wilderness on the build planets.

I don't know why the planets were supposed to be endless wilderness with a few NPC cities according to some people. It was made to be used by the players not as a museum.

While I am most hoping for a Superhero game that was proper (in the dictionary of Glad this means as close to City of Heroes as is possible), if it were possible in my lifetime, a VRMMORPG like 'THE NEW GATE' woul also be awesome.

In reality, even if someone won a lot of money or had a lot of money. They'd give up as soon as they read their forum for the game.

Imagine Star Citizen. But for the person who inherited/won/recieved/has a lot of money, it be just like the trolls against Star Citizen for the rich person's own game instead. And most people wouldn't deal with that retardedness.

Something that doesn't suck like 99.99% of every MMO, and something without something like Lineage, and Black Desert, but without the Third Party Anti-Cheats, and something that is more casual no forced stuff... No having to login on X number of days to do events or stuff like in BDO scroll farming or timed events like Arche Age.

    Something with Dragons too..

    Totally agree. First Niven book I read many years ago. Thank you though @Torval ;

@waynejr2 Convergent Series - the short story (was the lead story in one of the original collections) - is a very neat (fantasy) story as well.

I would imagine that if a millionaire/billionaire wanted to create an MMO, they wouldn't put out screenshots/gameplay videos until it was ready or near ready to launch. When developers aren't looking to appease their crowdfunding donors they don't normally put out unfinished media for their game for that exact reason.

Big circular city, with a huge tower in the middle, which consists of 100 floors with bosses, no solo play here, must have a party/raid, each floor has mini bosses and a final boss, which unlocks the next floor.

A few zones around the city which work as a starting zone and not really long quest chain, to explain the story behind the tower and to gear you up a little bit for the first floor. This may be used as roleplaying places and afking.

Crafting, trading and socieal features (guilds) would be really important in this game, if you can't stand talking to people, this wouldn't be your game.

Bosses should be really really difficult, i would make it difficult enough for all the 100 floors to take around 2 years to clear, in said time you can create 100 more floors, never repeating the same bosses and creating cool encounters.

I don't know if i would like a high fantasy, low fantasy but i think i would go with low.

There would be pvp, arenas, duels and maybe battlegrounds, but pvp wouldn't be the main focus of the game, PVE would be.

I would love to make the game of my dreams, but the amount of money and time it would take to develope would be absurd and there's a big chance it couldn't even happen with the current technology. That's why i think i would go with something like this, focusing on social and roleplaying aspects without a huge world, just making sure people do group together to work on their goals.

Hmmm, the problem with that is that others already got that idea. There is a Ragnarok VR in development and even Rift is getting a experimental VR patch (whatever that means).

People in Japan have screamed for a VR MMO since .Hack so I doubt Ragnarok is the only one.

You need more then just a VR MMO to make billions, but keep on pitching, VR MMOs do have potential.

Haha I think Scambug meant like RedTube or YouPorn the MMO. An adult VR MMO.
I want to help design and develop a PvE-focused, solo-friendly, sandpark MMO which combines crafting, monster hunting, and story.  So PM me if you are starting one.
