Well if I'm that rich I suppose it would be something like Hack or Sword online with the AI going crazy and taking over the mind of people and not allowing them to log off. Well as long as we are fantasizing about the lotto why not the rest of it.
I'd finance the first ever adult VR MMO and rake in the billions.
Hmmm, the problem with that is that others already got that idea. There is a Ragnarok VR in development and even Rift is getting a experimental VR patch (whatever that means).
People in Japan have screamed for a VR MMO since .Hack so I doubt Ragnarok is the only one.
You need more then just a VR MMO to make billions, but keep on pitching, VR MMOs do have potential.
Haha I think Scambug meant like RedTube or YouPorn the MMO. An adult VR MMO.

Ah, I am pretty sure it is the same thing with those but I don't dare surf for more information. I thought he meant something like AoC or Scarlett blade.
Still, I guess that if he got some famous pornstars as npcs he could earn a lot of cash on it if he would get it out soon enough, but the porn branch seems to be good at utilizing new tech so he would have to make that game hyper fast.

I think vanilla Wow used that tech, more then one of my friends lost their job and even more got booted to the curve by their better halves.
I would make a WIldstar that actually worked. I love the humor, lore, and world in Wildstar. The game had so much potential, but there was just too many poor development decisions and bad leadership for it to really take off. It's like everything they did was designed to sink their ship
One thing is sure, It would be a completely dynamic medieval world: a realistic ecosystem, migrating animals and traveling NPCs, quests would be generated based on the actual context and you would have very little chances to get the same quest twice at the same place. Character development would be 100% skill based like UO, no classes at all. A crafting skill would not be more "important" than a fighting skill, making autonomous crafting characters possible. I would also discourage camping/farming and encourage hunting. Resource gathering, which is most of the times boring farming, would be done by NPCs under your command, like in Black Desert, even though doing it yourself isn't forbidden either. No instant teleportation or fast travel, and no "taxi" transportation either, but horse routes can be set on "auto pilot" like BDO for longer distances. No flying mounts. PvP would be between factions, but those wouldn't be limited to 2 or 3, and PvP action would happen on realm borders while not affecting PvE at all in the rest of the world. No attacking/ganking your own side, but betrayal should remain possible. No FFA PvP server either, those attract a kind of population I don't want in my game, and tend to host a vocal minority that asks for nerfs and changes all the time.
I'd play this. Let me add, no flagging system, but something like DAoC's pvp only zones on the borders. Not a zone but clearly marked "PvP happens here" lines to cross. Multiple factions not race locked, but changing(betrayal) should be a long hard process, possibly the final step assassinating a high level NPC? I've found myself also liking the node system in BDO, very flexible and lets you set up your empire and build your cozy shack with no competition a la Archeage. A robust pet system like UO. I'd love to see breeding though, with chances at special abilities from specializing in one pet. Something like Revival was planning, where anyone could breed say, pet dogs, but someone who specialized in dogs could make combat animals or trackers.
I loved Anarchy Online and liked Fallen Earth. A Dune MMO would be sort of a similar setting.

From time to time I play with the idea of a sandbox mythological ecological MMORPG where you can play one of the many fauna existing in the world. You'd essentially pick a creature and then exist in its world, with all its abilities and awesome stuff, but also its limitations. For example, maybe you pick some type of drake or dragon creature, you can fly, breathe fire, all that cool stuff -- but you also need to hunt, compete with dominant drakes, are hunted by other creatures, perhaps unable to speak with other species, etc. There would be an eclectic mix of creature types, ranging from social pack animals to solo, independent animals. Bigger, more powerful stuff would be independent (think Evolve) but would have very little safe ground, while pack creatures could group up and work together to nest, hunt, migrate or whatever else.
The game itself: The Settlers or settlement or some such..
Overall game login server: SciFi environment like Eve Online, Battlestar Galactica, Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen. Star Trek.
Each of the uninhabitable places(Asteroids, Suns, Dead planets) used as resource gathering and galactic control nodes(guild wars)
But each of the Habitable planets would have it's very own game Genre. It's own server farm. It's own Dev's. Character remains the same throughout the entire game...but when you land on say a medieval world you change your gear to fit the environment...(something like Star Trek characters would do for holodecks and planet landings)
Want to play a western...land on a western planet...same as for FPS shooter...Tank games shooters...Airplane games...Pirate games...anything you can imagine...want to play that Genre then land on that planet...
Multiple planets of same Genre but with different Planetary laws...Want to play medieval game as PVE only then land on planet with those laws.. Open world PVP...As well as First person View/third person view.. then land on planet with those laws...
Get tired of one genre then just go to the station and fly to another habitable planet...
Crafting: ALL and i mean ALL things usable by the player are CRAFTED with players name inscribed. (Ships, housing, gear everything..) (This tends to lead to alot of crap in the database....so Decay is a must....don't log in for say XX days...your crafted items have decayed away. This is where player storage is VERY important..)
Absolutely no preforms...Materials only..(with benefits based on material type.) Want to make gear out of cloth, leather and metal..Then gear stats would change based on material type and base used...(wool cloth, cow leather, and iron ore would have totally different stats for different uses than silk cloth, minotaur leather, and titanium ore.) STATS like Diablo based on material used not RNGesus roles.
Wool cloth +10 Movement -20 Defense Silk Cloth +20 Movement -10 Defense...Or some such..you get the idea.
ALL materials can be used in all Genre's..Yes you can live on PVE only
planet and mine ore all day long...place in your storage....goto Scifi
planet, remove ore from storage and craft Scifi items..
Crafting is it's own game itself...certain materials require manipulation at certain times of the process...
Crafting market would consist of several parts..Global/Genre/Monetary.. Meaning the market will be Global you can access from anywhere. Just can't purchase every item from anywhere..
Sold by Genre...can't buy laser pistol for medieval environment..Have to actually travel to a scifi genre planet to buy that item..
Monetary meaning...yes you can actually sell your crafted items through the game for real money...The Company taking a % of all sales therefore eliminating the need for item mall or cash shop from the company itself...Since everything in the game is crafted by players.
A person could make a living selling high end Ships, housing materials, gear from crafting...
And hopefully eliminating Spammer selling...ALL Trade must go through the Market...both game and cash money.
What will be sold on Cash market will be Determined by the player base....more demand can move items from game money shop to cash shop.
Housing and Terraforming...Your house is YOUR house...not some prefab made by the game...you terraform the land around your house in your very own shard...and build your house using the materials crafted either by you or other players...have to follow laws of physics though...can't place a granite block on top of another...then remove the lower block while the top remains....(ie..minecraft building)..physics in the real world same as in this game world.
Only Prefabs in game are the blueprints....You can't actually make a furnace from wood to smelt metal...So you will first need of course the blueprint...Either found or bought(player made)..Once crafted using base materials(again stats based on materials used) then you can create your own blueprint if you have enough scribing skill.
ALL skills are just that SKILL...you must use skill to raise skill...not some click button ok i have this skill now....or you can learn (slower pace) from a mentor...Mentoring would be another minigame..
Minigames that a person could participate inside the main game are ...card games...table top games..want to get together with friends for a poker game...then goto Casino and sit in a chair at the poker table which will launch the Poker room mini-game....Where you would have another set of gear, items you can access..
Want to get together with friends for a Table-top warhammer40k style game....goto Game house and join that type of table...
All casino Style games All types of Table-top games All Non casino Style Card games (Gin, Rummy, Bridge....list goes on)
One Game - Multiple Genre's, a person would never have to leave except to interact with the real world...get tired of one genre just get in your ship and travel to another genre.....no need to have 500 different games clogging up your HDD
If I will be given that opportunity I would re create MU Origin, modify the ranking system and delete the Item combine. But most especially hire people that will monitor each server and ban those bots and RMT sellers.

This concept would work fine as a single-player game; I'm not really sure what the MMO part would add, and certainly the other players talking OOC might detract from the experience.
I want to help design and develop a PvE-focused, solo-friendly, sandpark MMO which combines crafting, monster hunting, and story. So PM me if you are starting one.
Seriously it would be my own game no need to copy other games although like everything in life,i would draw ideas from other games but do it better and that would not take much effort to pull off.
A basic starting point would be to design everything in a plausible manner. This means no over sized weapons,no break neck speeds or wiping out 20 enemies with a single swing.Players would get tired, gear would eventually wither and maybe break but of course over a long period of time.Nodes would not instantly re-spawn,seasons and weather would be a factor.
There was a game i played,by some Eric dude, very small team,he had some great ideas for a game but lack of money and team meant he fell short in every part of the game.I think my game would be somewhat similar to his ideas but way over the top better.
One area to avoid,GEAR progression, the worst design to ever set foot in mmorpg's.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Ok stay with me here. Its a crime game. All the skills talents and gears all further a crime economy. From safe breaking to racketeering. Con artists and drug trafficking you name it. Local banking heists and crafting all geared with a criminal aspect. Crime factional PvP thats overly balanced.
BUT....
At random intervals a player is chosen to play Dirty Harry. You are invulnerable on a short timer. Maybe an hour. You have a 45 cal magnum to take down opposing crime player syndicates. One shot one kill. With 5 shots.

I'd love to see the sales pitch for this, with gaming under attack from everybody and their mum about too much gun influence. Great idea.
If your MMO did not have to make its investment back, it could keep its original team and keep putting out quality dlc. Nearly any type of game at all, any IP, it would be the top MMO out there.
Classless - You do what you wish. If you wanna do combat, equip a sword etc. If you wanna do trading/crafting/gathering etc, equip the item that you need for it.
No levels - Everyone is equal.
No skills/talents - Everyone is equal, no one can grind shit to beat you down easy, everything is based on your own skill.
Combat - If you've played Bushido Blade, that.
Housing - Just get the stuff you need and build your cottage/house/castle anywhere in the gameworld.
Gameworld - Huge, whole Japan.
Gear/stats - The game wouldn't have "actual" stats like strenght/stamina etc. However, your gear that is crafted by players would have dmg-meter with a counter from 1-5. Pretty much only mail/platemail would have this counter since leather or cloth can't really parry melee strikes from swords/axes or arrows too well. Every piece of armor would be placed to each bodypart and protects only that area from damage. The counter from 1-5 would determine how many strikes can you take before the armor breaks and you're left vulnerable for fatal strikes. Also, the armor pieces with 5 points would slow your character down greatly.
PVP only - PVE would pretty much be trading/crafting, mobs would mostly be wild-animals and such, no monsters here or raid bosses.
FFA PVP - Yes, I said it.
Guilds/alliances - All that.
Survival - You need food and shelter to stay alive, of course.
Politics - You can be a big shot, emperor or such, depends if people will root for you.
