Camelot Unchained, although i am not thinking currently that it will release in 2017, but having said that, the developers post earlier in this thread was a hugely positive thing for me, said the right things i guess. So i am increasingly optimistic about the game, its likely to be the sort of game i would be willing to pay a sub to play.
Conan looks great. I am really surprised more people are not taking a closer look. Also, Pirates looks to be shaping up well. That should be fun. Now, if I could only find time...
Also, self-editing is a *%#&@! "SALE the open waters".
More then half of those so called MMOs are crowd funded projects , made by indies companies.
Sad ...
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy? Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
Pantheon is the only upcoming mmo I have real confidence in. The developers arent shooting for the moon simply returning to a classical style of progression that some people do actually want play again with a more modern engine and better interfaces.
I used to be super hyped for Elyria until I met the head dev at Pax East last year. The demo of combat was horrendous; especially for an indie booth when your trying to attract interest. I knew already it was going for a more realistic take on mmorpgs but when I asked the dev if the game would have a few modern systems regarding crafting, class switching/hybrid and appearance he was dumbfounded about the concepts in general. When I named a few of the mmos in the last decade to incorporate those things he just replied something to the effect of " I dont play modern MMOs." Wtf? At least research the field your dealing with thoroughly before committing a ton of time and money to it. I wouldnt be surprised if its neutered down in its release.
Camelot Unchained is the game I long for but I have transformed through the years from being an avid PVP:er to a PVE/PVP-guy. I know they want to find their niche with that game but I wish they concentrated 50/50 on the PVP/PVP instead of going full PVP. With the lore and the classes they have planned for that game it would be so cool with a good PVE-system. Maybe I am just egoistic because I know I won't be able to get over my pals to this game if it is full focus on PVP.
Betas don't typically go on for long periods of time. If it hits beta before August, it'll likely be out before end of year.
B.S. marketing-hype betas are short, good betas last more than a couple months (WoW, EQ), so developers actually have time to fix things.
Testing phases of software development should go on as long as necessary and no longer. If it takes 2 weeks and a product is ready then sell it. If it takes 2 years same thing.
It seems to no longer be an axiom that a successful company is the one turning out the most ready and stable products to its market. Not sure why all you people will buy crap rather than employing your finger but what can one say?
Beta should end when the list of fixes changes and needs are met not one second before but we all know that is not what actually happens anymore. People use to be paid to do this type of testing.
If this is the best we have to look forward to, I'll be back in 2018.
Better wait for 2020+ because most of these games now a days are fast on a whim crowd funded games. If they can't trust themselves to build a game with their OWN resources, why should we trust them?
One game not mentioned and to me at least proves how bad the choices are will the FFXi mobile game, yes it will be run into the ground by Nexon's greed and cash shops but the game itself,i am sure will be better than everything in this list and sadly it is a MOBILE game lol.
I do not think i is any coincidence that all the games i rate as the best top games, were funded by the developers themselves not by crowd funding.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
i think gone are days of mmorpg trying to please everyone and thats a good thing
now we will finally get mmorpg catering to different styles
for me it will be CU
There is a lot of sandboxes in our horizon according to that list. Will be interesting to see what type of sandbox manages to grab a fair market share.
As an open world PVE type of guy who likes a strong story and solo plus group mechanics when I feel like it, there is nothing here that would take me away from ESO, WOW, STWOR, GW2, etc. Those games are all safe it seems for a very long time to come.
2017 Game im waiting for ..... Mass Effect Andromeda , Dauntless . Im big fan of Action Rpgs like Diablo , Marvel Heroes , Path of Exile . I have been playing Wow for about 7-8 years and when I download any other MMORPG they just cant beat Wow in any meaning . GAME I WISH TO PLAY : Isometric View Action RPG located in World of Warcraft universe where You can Hack and slash all those pesky minions
I'm really looking forward to Camelot Unchained, and hope it does well, but that's still to be seen.....as someone that has sunk thousands of dollars into Shroud of the Avatar early on (yeah wish I hadn't now and I do regret it, but hey I gambled and lost, it happens), I don't know how the game made this particular list, no one's anticipating it really. In your description you say "The choices a player makes in Shroud of the
Avatar will have an affect on the world more than anything and lean
toward avoiding grinding."
The choices you make really don't effect or change the world at all. In all honesty the only thing to do in the game is grind, and a boring grind at that.
I know some may say I am coming off as harsh but I think it best to give an opinion on how bad it is, given the quality of the game
going into it's 4th year now, and the hundreds of hours I played and money I spent. Knowing how the concept of the game came
about doesn't help either. The idea of Sota was thrown together quickly for kickstarter
as an effort to save the company that had been chasing the mobile app dream, with only having 3 months
worth of funds left before having to close the doors. It's no wonder the game plays like a horrible F2P app game.
Richard Garriott even tells us this in this video at around
41 minutes

32:00 – Richard talks about Portalarium’s failure to chase the social media and mobile gaming trend.
41:00 – Richard mentions Portalarium’s foray into social and mobile
gaming was a disaster and talks about Portalarium having only enough
funds to operate for another 3 months just before the Shroud of the
Avatar Kickstarter was launched. He mentions receiving advice from Cloud
Imperium Games (Chris Roberts / Star Citizen) about what it would take
to do a Kickstarter, and then goes on to say that they started from
literally nothing and put together the Shroud of the Avatar Kickstarter
in 45 days.
43:00 – Richard mentions they took their art almost exclusively from the Unity Asset Store and wrote a bare minimum of code.
44:40 – Richard admits the $1M fundraising target in their
Kickstarter was an amount they decided would allow them to “get out of
this pickle” and not necessarily finish the product (which of course
would entail fulfilling the promises made in the Kickstarter).
I would have never backed the game with so much money had I know this idea was thrown together as a desparate attempt just to keep the company afloat while they tried to figure out how and what kind of game they could do.
I tell everyone to just wait until it goes free to play eventually if they really have to try it out because it's not worth spending money on it.

You both seem to have dark and light opinions on this one? Which is it in reality? What do the facts show.
Yes I could go find out on my own but I only care enough to write this short comment and nothing else.
