It doesn't looks too bad. Quite nice for my standards. But the game is currently in development stages so it will be long before u get news of beta etc.
Yer the graphics at the moment are nothing special, for a game thats only just in development, by the time it comes out the overall quality of graphics in the industry should be far above that which i have just seen. Yer it does look interesting though, and it's good to see the understand one thing in the style section "treadmill games: content is king" lets just hope they deliver.

I don't know why some of you are complaining. Screenies look quite good to me. Besides gameplay is what it counts. I just hope that they'll manage to create this game as planned with all the promissed features.

Now, graphics really doesn't matter much in mmorpgs. As long as u put in decent graphics(3d) and gameplay is nice, it will be a success. Take a look at AC2, now where is it? And the ninth domain screens really look quite decent. We just gotta wait for more info on gameplay stuffs.
The website is unprofessional and amateurish. I didn't take the time to read any of it. I did look at the screenshots, and found the graphics to be on par with those currently found in EQ, which are themselves quite outdated. While I agree that graphics don't make the game, they are a vital component and contribute greatly to the immersive quality of the game world.
From what I've seen, there are better games on the way. This one doesn't really get me interested.
Yes, and EQ is still the mmorpg with the most subscribers. This shows that graphics really doesn't rules over gameplay. Graphics are for u to 'wow' at the world when u first enter it. After a week or so, you will be more interested in the game then looking at sceneries. I'm not a ninth domain fanboy but i feel its graphics + gd gameplay can turn out a good game.
I think your braille monitor is broke or you need a new set of coke-bottle glasses. The graphics are pretty sweet so far, considering they are probably at the pre, pre, alpha phase of the game. Much better than EQ and thank god they aren't using bump mapping like so many of these "new games" are using. Bump mapping is crap and makes the 3d models look like toys. Mythica for example is going way overboard with it. A good art "style" can go alot farther than fancy technology anyday, and I think Ninth Domain has done just that. Who knows maybe before the game is done they'll have alot more bell and whistles to make old Theo put his glasses back on and pay attention.
Gameplay is certainly more important than graphics in making a game enjoyable, no argument there, but even in their secondary role, graphics are still vital, at least to me. I know a lot of MMORPG players tend to be less discriminating when it comes to the visual quality of their games, but I'm just not one of them. Make it look real to me.
Dude, maybe YOU need to get your vision checked! There was nothing in those screens that looked new to me. EQ's new models and zones look every bit as good as what I saw there. Sure, it's pre-beta, but unless they're gonna scrap what they've got and start fresh, I'll hold out for Dark and Light.
Well if you think Dark and Light is realism, I think I know where your taste graphics is...LOL. I bet you also think Wish and Horizons are cutting edge as well LOL....comment again when you get some taste in art. Otherwise go and play your BumpQuest.
This games got interesting ideas, and I think if theo doesnt like it , thats great, one less person to try to game.
no need to get all bent out of shape, he posted that whole comment to get responces from you guys, and thats what he got. don't give him the satisfaction of knowing that he annoyed you.
that aside, it looks like a good game, I will deffinatly try to get into beta, if not buy they game. looks promising.
after 6 or so years, I had to change it a little...

You say that you don't believe that graphics make the game, but you judged the game 100% on the look of the game/website. Id agree the website and graphics dont look that great, but this is the #1 game im following becasue of what was said in the information parts of the website.
Jira, that he is, but hes attitude was rude and childish, Sure I dont think we should dwell on it, and attack him all the time, but posts such as his should be discouraged.

A website isn't a game nuff said. I'd rather extra time spent on the game than spent on making a nice website.

A website is not a game, true enough. But I feel it represents the company, and if that's the face they choose to greet their audience with, then I think it speaks poorly of them.
Those of you who thought I was rude, I apologize. It was not my intent. Neither did I post simply to goad anyone into a battle of opinions.
While I don't judge a game entirely by its graphics, they are a limiting factor to me. I won't play a game that I feel has substandard visuals. By the same token, I won't play a game with great visuals if it has lousy gameplay. The two go hand in hand in my mind.
Someone asked my opinion of Horizons. I'm not impressed. Visually it doesn't seem to have made any great leaps, and my understanding is that the only part of gameplay that's fun is crafting. I enjoy crafting, but not enough to focus my gameplay on it exclusively.
I am impressed with Dark and Light, however. While the character models don't seem terribly advanced, the terrain is breathtaking.
Oh, and my comments about the company's website is my professional opinion. As a web designer, it disapoints me when a company doesn't appreciate the value of strong design in their Internet presence. It's an online game, they should have a strong online presence to sell it.
I agree that the website isn't all that it can be. All things considered they aren't a Blizzard or a Microsoft so I wouldn't put it past them to update the website in the future, like alot of games do.
Besides, the only thing I truly dislike about the 9D site are the buttons. The layout is standard fair and even Dark and Lights website is pretty much the same layout. Menu on the left with images on top and right. I'm not trying to start and argument, its just how I see it. I do love WOW's website though.
Yeah, DnL's site isn't anything special, but it does look professional. What really worries me about DnL is that English doesn't seem to be the first language of the company developing it. Their FAQ is a little hard to follow at times, and I'm hoping that isn't the case with the game. I also don't really know a whole lot about the gameplay, but what I've heard sounds interesting.
I admit, I didn't really read anything about 9D on their site, so I can't say I've really given it a fair chance.

My decent graphics = Pleasant to the eyes.
Jeez... Graphically I think the game looks great for the first shots released... I agree with Jir, since when did graphics make the game?
